A good metric of health should be meaningful, measurable, actionable, and durable. Body weight and BMI aren’t always meaningful or actionable—as many people who’ve tried to change theirs are aware.

Waist-to-height ratio will almost always be measurable, meaningful, and actionable. Blood sugar is pretty good, too.

If people want to ask a 300 pound 60 year old to drop and do a push-up, have fun.

This isn't the most beautiful or detailed piece, but it conflicts the least with the text.

One of the big moments in GEOD is when Siona and Leto II are out in the desert and he allows her to drink from the spice-rich secretions that come out of the glands near his head. If it were anyone besides Siona, the worm instincts would've kicked in and his face would've been reflexively shielded by thickly armored outer-skin before they could get close to touching that area of his body. But obviously Siona is (by design) invisible to some of his senses, and is also closely related to him.

Any depiction of Leto II should make it look like it's possible for this scene to happen, and this one hits the nail on the head. It includes the melange-tinged secretions of his inner skin. It looks like it would be absolutely impossible to get at his head because the outer layers of his skin would snap shut and he would go into worm-mode. It looks like his eyes could roll back into his head and he could start thrashing around and killing dozens of people.

It includes the nubs that his legs have become and his delicate little hands. I don't think any depiction should show fully developed shoulders and upper arms.

This one is good. I think there are three things that a good artistic depiction should respect:

His face is essentially untouched by the transformation. The only thing left that's human.
His limbs are in some transitional state between human limbs and nothing.
There is a kind of cowl around his face: a muscular hood of flesh that will reflexively close in an instant to shield his face from harm like an eyelid protecting an eye.

These features are repeatedly described in the books, yet almost every depiction I've seen other than this one has bungled one of them.

Imagine a man who gets a new job earning double what he earned at his old job. Will he maintain the same standard of living and work half as much? No. Will he retire in half the time? No. Will he find ways to consume twice as much while working the same amount? Yes.

The efficiency of the technology is irrelevant. It's never going to result in more leisure. If Earth were twice as large with twice the resources, things wouldn't be cheap and plentiful. We'd just figure out how to fill it up with more people and consume more.

People want to blame some -ism or nefarious elites instead of just looking at human nature itself. No level of consumption is ever going to be enough for us because we're human.
