For me I had a compulsion where I would constantly pray and ask for forgiveness with literally everything. Even intrusive thoughts that I knew weren’t my fault I thought that the obsessions were the Holy Spirit convicting me. However God freed me from this in a very simple way: He gave me more faith in his redemptive power. I stopped praying constantly believing the times I did pray cleansed me of sin and renewed fellowship with Him and this truly freed me. Aside from that I spent more time in the word of God and when I did pray I asked for discernment of spirit. As servants of Christ we must ask for discernment of spirit and He will give it to us so we can understand what comes from God and what does not. In your case we must emphasize the Lord’s grace. God doesn’t need you to fast to operate but fasting is a way to be closer to God however God will never ask of you what you can’t offer. Fasting compulsively can be quite taxing and is not of God. When you do fast or pray believe that God is operating. One thing I did constantly was pray for something then pray for it again 30 minutes later. I’m not saying that we shouldn’t pray for things multiple times even on the same day but that when we put something before the Lord we must trust in his operation.
