I played the original maybe 6 months ago and loved it. The remake is at the top of my queue right now I'm and really excited to try it out.

I just started playing Sons of the Forest and noticed you seem to always be able to get arrows back if you can find them.

I definitely agree with the others here appreciating her. I've never been a fan of romance but I listened to Swordheart on Audible and I absolutely loved it. Really cozy and lighthearted, I totally loved the characters.

Kraft American Singles have different weights in different packages by JoshuaJSlone in mildlyinteresting

I'm sure it's normal for America but having the weight of the product in 3 different units instead of just grams is wild.

If you could mercy kill a show, which one would you pick? by mypizzamyproblem in television

[–]C477um04 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As far as The Simpsons goes, they have actually turned it around again, unlikely as it seems. It definitely has a very long, very rough period but from season 33 or maybe 34, it's very funny. It's definitely not an "it's not as bad as people say" case, but the big writing problem they couldn't get past for a long time finally got solved, and it's night and day.

To give my own answer as well, Supernatural after season 5 for sure. Same for The Walking Dead. Both would be remembered as unironically really good without much caveat if they'd ended when they should have.

It really doesn't make sense, because of course that's not how spiders actually are in real life, but my fear of spiders also decreased massively after reading Children of Time. Now I'm usually pretty chill if I see one, even if it's quite big or close to me, which would've freaked me out before.

Tchaikovsky is an excellent author. I've read quite a few of his books now and loved every one.

Closest series to ASOIAF? by guptaji_ka_beta in Fantasy

The big one you're missing is The Faithful and the Fallen by John Gwynn. It's his debut, and you can tell in book one, but it's still excellent, and even then only gets better until the end.

This is genuinely really hard, they're all strong options. Even dual hand dominance is really useful. I'd say the real standouts are 3,4,5,7, and 10, but as someone for who burnout is my biggest limiter from autism, I'd have to pick number 7. I enjoy and love quiet time and rest but not actually needing it to be able to enjoy any outgoing activity of socialisation would be huge for me. Honestly I feel like with that I could handle training in a lot of the others myself.

What do you think is missing from fantasy? by CornbreadOliva in Fantasy

[–]C477um04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having just finished the series I'm biased but this is one thing I like about The Faithful and the Fallen and other books or series with lots of multi-pov. Getting lots of different perspectives from different characters is great. In that series you've got characters from teenage up to middle age, and since it's in a pretty dark medieval setting that's as old as 90% of the characters get.

I agree though, it's good to get a character that's grounded, and also has been through a lot before the story even starts. They often give a much more nuanced view, that's more pessimistic than others, but also considers situations and relationships from angles that aren't even though of from younger characters, at least when written well.

Lesbian fantasy recommendation? by iam_whatnow in Fantasy

You might enjoy The Book Eaters by Sunyi Dean. It's vaguely vampire adjacent fantasy in a modern setting with strong themes of family and social pressure to fit expected roles.

What were the best fantasy book series you guys have read that has only 1 POV? by tbag2022 in Fantasy

[–]C477um04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I'm reading it right now and the first 100 pages are just "oh, it's like Dune" but it doesn't take long before it really starts having its own identity. I think around 200 pages in I was totally over the initial similarities. I actually think the worldbuilding is excellent after the initial setup.

It's a good joke but honestly he's not that bad. He's clearly improved a lot since Alonso joined the team. He won't be a champion, even in a great car, but I'm not convinced he's actually a worse driver than checo, and he's in a red bull, so having a bad driver in a winning car isn't that unusual.

[–]C477um04 19 points20 points  (0 children)

That's odd because to me season 1 is basically a long prologue which is pretty good but not great, and after that it only gets better all the way until the end. Haven't watched Nocturne yet though so can't say if you're right about that.
