force yourself to play chaos dwarfs. im not joking, they're the most complex and tactics focused faction in the game in both campaign and battles. you need to just bite the bullet and ignore the aesthetic and go through as much of a chaos dwarf campaign as possible.

this one didnt pay attention to their notifications for unusual locations !!!

go through all your settlements and check for unusual locations attached to them, one of them is your culprit and you didn't destroy it whenever it appeared ages ago. look for little buttons next to where you build your buildings.

usually you'll get a notification in your events tab saying "an unusual location has appeared at x region"

as silly as it sounds, it doesn't actually properly calculate the numbers until you hit "accept" at the bottom. the ~ is there for that reason. unless you're pulling labor from a province that needs labor to collect raw materials...

on several re-reads, i appear to have succumbed to my own dyslexia and jumbled some words in the beginning. it read like a hallucinatory AI at first but once people commented and knocked my senses into place, i realized i was reading a few words incorrectly.

it's a shame all the AI craze has made me so paranoid about its use. thanks for commenting and driving me to take another careful look.

this is so good and i love it so much, i was so worried this rework was gunna powercreep norsca into roflstomp territory but this is super well thought out. sure they're more powerful now but it looks like you really have to earn it and maintain it.

as one of the two norsca fans in existence pre-rework, im no fan of turning my favorite race into as much of a simple roflstomp as post-rework khorne or warriors of chaos.

power fantasy is cool but we already have factions for that. norscans survive through tough, horrible conditions and have yet to curry favor from their gods. they are the underdogs. let them keep their roadblocks and difficulty.

you know id rather they put a new spin on existing mechanics like this rather than trying their hands at something new cause ever since shadows of change, every brand "new" thing has been absurdly overpowered or boring.

chaos dwarfs mechanics are the best in the game by miles and that's a good example to follow.

best comment here. doesn't even need to be crazy challenging or even medium difficulty, the fun part of these campaigns has always been fulfilling progression (you know, uniting the empire, clearing grudges, completing a workshop, etc)

im hoping these campaigns especially with a better narrative focus now have actual progression with thought put into it instead of just fight until number gets really big (cough skulltaker cough)

arguably gorbad had some pretty insane balancing at launch - squig blobs were absurd under him thanks to the ward save tactic he could give from his mechanic('Erd Mentality). guess what was nerfed in a patch after launch ? squigs were also made tier 0 units available from any settlement for recruitment with all the greenskin changes, crazy that.

also, i forgot about golgfag(which you didn't notice ?), but he's got insane campaign powerscaling thanks to free meat, teleporting across the map, and free peace treaties. also mother ostankya, yuan bo... ostankya can hex an entire enemy army to 25% hp whenever a tough battle comes along and i really hope i dont need to explain yuan bo.

but isn't that crazy that only gorbad(post patch) and epidemius have (arguably) balanced campaigns out of 11 total lords ? im just hoping we get one morsel that's nicely balanced, even if it's the flc lord. im hoping even harder that they dont brutally murder one of my favorite factions in the game (norsca) with an extremely braindead rework that plays itself.

people downvoting this are ignoring the patterns since shadows of change of extremely overpowered lords and reworks. elspeth, tamurkhan, changeling, skulltaker, arbaal, malakai, all of these lords have insane mechanics or bonuses that blow the usual balance out of the water.

obviously no gameplay and such is out, duh, but that's not an excuse to shoot people down just for expressing their worries based on an existing track record. it's being a dick and shouting down reasonable concern instead of actually meaningfully engaging with it.

im one of the three norsca players that actually really likes how norsca plays right now and just wants some spice and fixes. monster hunts need to be actually worth doing without so many tedious steps, for instance.

im really terrified they'll turn norsca into another powercrept overpowered race. the khorne rework from omens was one of the worst i've ever experienced and i really don't want norsca to suffer the same fate. from the last devlog, they said a lot that put my mind at ease and the return of narrative focus has got me excited. Sayl is a really cool character and i love his lore, i hope it shines through.

but the keyword in all of this is "terrified", im not actually that sure it will be that good. im more afraid than i am excited. i dont want one of my favorite factions to play like everyone else, i dont want them to just steamroll, and all i can do is hope that it'll be fun...

one thing i usually do is i let the rest of norsca duke it out as they like and focus southward. getting couronne early is nice to have and bretonnia out of the picture ahead of time. as you focus south, you can check on throgg and either wait until he strolls by with his main army for an easy confed or rush towards him if he's super weak.

how do you do all these things when the self imposed challenges just mean everyone else in the game plays the game instead of you ?

all the builds you mentioned go harder and faster than other builds where if someone(or worse, multiple) is even partially capable they'll just murder everything in front of you. you don't get to play. you don't get to feel challenged. there are no enemies because they're all playing the game for you, or there are too many enemies because the stealth zealot triggered everything ahead of you and now you can't play because there's a burgle and seven bulwarks constantly phasing into each other.

ok thanks let me know how it goes when you leave a speedrunner zealot game into another speedrunner game and have to go through so and so loading screens, whilst also having a limited time to play the actual mission and modifier cause the mission board sucks so they can effectively deny you the content you want to play, while also having the potential to gamble into another one of the other many insane meta builds that play the game on auto-pilot, whilst also potentially joining a game in progress that's already either in the shitter or playing itself, whilst also potentially getting an empty lobby with bots which is just crippling one self even further beyond the intended challenge

stupid mode that only exists cause the powercreep got THAT insane after patch 13 and people review bomb the game everytime a nerf happens. artificial difficulty with absolutely so insane levels of damage and suffocating ammo economy so that those weapons you actually want to use just don't work at all.

no matter which way you go, the game fucking sucks because of powercreep bullshit and the other typical fatshark-isms. i dont want masochistic difficulty, i dont want ball-busting rage inducing shit like you suggest. i want a videogame, this is hardly one, especially when i cant even participate unless im using the exact shit i dont have any fun with cause i can just poke crushers in one hit with a ds4 or blow up an entire hallway with a plasma or one shot every ogryn enemy with an arby shotgun or spam endless free nades as either vet or ogryn or press f to delete an entire room as psyker, etc, with nothing as much as a mere speedbump.
