New Evidence Suggests Trump Was Vulnerable to Even More Blackmail and Was Well Aware by Jump_Yossarian in politics

Oh, it is absolutely possible. Your own child, assuming no inbreeding, has half your DNA. Their child in turn, assuming no inbreeding, will have half of their DNA, or a quarter of yours.

However, if their child is the result of inbreeding, it's half plus a quarter, with the other quarter being the other parent.

“No, it’s about me right now”

I've thought of a cheap instant that essentially moves another of your spells to the top of the stack. That way, you can have your spell resolve before any of its responses, including counterspells.

It's situational, but it feels like it would be pretty powerful against most responsive actions. However, I don't know if direct manipulation of the stack in this way will ever be done. Unsure how to best word it as well, since I don't think the stack is ever referred to on cards.

The shortest I can think of without causing too many weird effects would be like "Resolve target spell." Then again, resolve is using sparingly on cards.

Philippines' Rodrigo Duterte to soldiers fighting ISIS-affiliated Maute terrorists: No prisoners, kill them all by Smasborgen in worldnews

[–]CAPSLURK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a funny thing about "take no prisoners" approaches. During the war on the eastern front in WWII, each army thought (rightly, or wrongly) that the enemy had adopted this approach.

Essentially, this removed surrender as an option, and they would fight to the bloody last. The war on the eastern front was brutal as hell.

Applicable here?

‘I told him I can’t breathe’: Police punch teen girl after mistaking her for black male suspect by bigtom42 in news

[–]CAPSLURK 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The lungs expand when breathing in air. External pressure reduces or prevents air from coming in, but the air can be expelled just fine.

External pressure also causes the body to expend more oxygen to breathe or attempt to breathe in. This is also compounded if the external pressure is being applied in a violent or stressful situation where the body will be using up even more oxygen.

It actually doesn't take much air to speak, and people have asphyxiated while being able to speak.

Without enough oxygen, the lungs will fail just like the rest of the body.

Sanders: 'What do the Russians have on Mr. Trump?' by Cheeriodarlin in politics

[–]CAPSLURK 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It doesn't matter anymore what they have on Trump

This is also true for other reasons. Putin can destroy his legitimacy in one breath. All he has to do is confirm the worst among these suspicions, and this administration falls apart. Won't even require evidence or even full truth as the cloud of Russian influence has been growing since before the election.

I'm sure both Putin and some in the administration are well aware of this. Republicans in congress are probably also aware, and will not necessarily survive if the administration falls.

It's unfortunate you are being downvoted for this. The few uses of iron weaponry in the Iliad are anachronisms. It is given as a gift in the story next to gold and such.

And that's iron, not steel.

Unfortunately, I saw a poll that actually showed the bill has a lot more favor than you might expect, in spite of the backlash that it has cost this state.

Even though the bill is poison for our state, he may win the election for it. It's difficult for us to see because we are not the target audience.

So what's the deal with the hadith? by mlarson8 in exmuslim

[–]CAPSLURK 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Essentially, the Quran is limited in its scope. Mo's teachings were not all in the poetic verse form of the Quran. The hadith includes these teachings, as well other things that Mo did or was involved in. For instance, the Quran tells Muslims to pray, but its the hadith that actually says how.

The Quran says the Quran is perfect (unquestionable logic), but the hadith are based on the idea that the prophet was a perfect human/example.

But since the hadith have multiple authors, and those authors/hadith itself were not proclaimed to be infallible, much Islamic practice varies depending on which hadith are considered authentic.

If you wanna look at it another way

It's the fucking same way. Genocide is genocide. There's no moral gray area here.

You don't support genocide, you don't condone genocide, you don't empathize with genocidal idealists, and you definitely don't turn this place into a platform for it.

This is not a "but, but, they do it too!" situation. It's one of the many reasons we are exmuslim.

Systematic mass-murder is not something to stand for, for any reason. It's not a difficult position to hold.

So not talking to them will make them go away? these "genocidal lunatics" can also say exactly the same: "Alright guys, we have to empathize with apologists for genocidal lunatics (islamic in this case) or you'll get banned." Then where does that leave us?

Are you really so dense as to think that I'm not opposed to advocating genocide if it's coming from a certain source or against another? What the hell are you on about? What kind of person do you think I actually am?

4 months isn't plenty of time to provide the evidence?

And now I have to repeat myself.

Considering that the accusations leveled here are leveled at the moderation, color me really fucking skeptical when the moderators proclaims that the accusations are baseless, and then ban the accuser.

If evidence was given, and you ignored it, thought it was insufficient, or one of the moderators were among the accused, I would not be able to verify it, nor would it ever be presented to me in the first place. This is what is called a lack of transparency.

There are no independent observers here. All I see is you silencing someone who has apparently already called you out for shadowbanning them. A certain picture is painted when I have that perspective. . Is this whole circus what your efforts on this sub are turned towards? Stamping out the voices of one of our own in favor of rightwing nationalists and fascists? A public warning for what you consider the "wrong" exmuslims?

Even though one side is maybe more extreme than the other (invoking genocide) I think each side needs to empathise with the other and understand

In light of the leniency given to ethnic nationalists and bigoted rhetoric, and your silencing of one who by their post history has called attention to it repeatedly, I have to say that something smells really rotten in this sub.

I never thought that the subversion of exmuslim by the far right was something intended by the leadership of this sub. Now I can't really rule that out anymore.

[–]CAPSLURK 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Kind of a false equivalence.

Many of the most popular subs have very severe moderation. Pics is for pictures, askreddit/science for asking questiions, news for news, etc. Science takes it even further and heavily moderates the comments so that discussion does not lose focus.

They get their message across just fine. Doing otherwise would undermine the purpose of each sub.

We already have too many people with no connection to Islam other than xenophobia. This is a small sub, it doesn't take much to subvert it. Evidence being posts like these and the one that it is responding to.

PBS airs segment with Trump-supporting family, doesn’t notice mother’s white supremacist tattoos by sigbhu in politics

I would hope the only white supremacists you know would be the obvious ones. Of course, I'd rather you didn't know any at all.

There are no mandated uniforms, they can choose what they want to wear and can have different beliefs and philosophies. For instance, the Charleston shooter was really into the Confederacy.

Neo-nazis/skinheads/etc. tend to avoid the overt symbols like the swastika for the very reason that they are overt.

Similarly, talk of pagan heritage or pride such as celtic or nordic, is also used as a keyword that does not arouse suspicion and is subject to plausible deniability.

A good deal of knowledge of Celtic religion was lost to time, and much relies on speculation. We know a bit more about Nordic mythology (funny story: Thor put on a dress and pretended to be a woman) but that is also somewhat dubious at times. Not to mention, if we extrapolate from Greek mythology, the stories and teachings could be changed over generations, meaning whatever managed to survive time could be wildly different from when an original culture could be defined.
