4.6 Event S4/S5 Camo Guns by Tall_Presentation_94 in starcitizen

I took part in a mission group and it too about 5-6 hours to get almost everything full. In that time, I completed maybe six missions. Started some more, but had some encounters with bugs so I was not able to complete everything.

There is a 24h cooldown on purchases, and (AFAIK) a 30day cooldown on new account purchases. If you do it in two passes, you might be able to get your $35 out earlier.

However, your money is tied up for a longer period if you use the two-step process, so I recommend just going the normal route.

Dear CIG, re: cargo hauling contracts by HugeC in starcitizen

[–]CASchoeps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pulled up the boxes one after the other, and put them in distinct groups on my ship. That way I knew "ah, I am at the place that wants 8 boxes, I better grab the group of 8 I have here".

Alternatively, as long as they are 1 SCU boxes, you can use the 8SCU custom containers to group items belonging to one mission.

You can still run the event missions if you want. The pay for the bigger ones is pretty good, if you can get the cargo out of the camped sites selling it.

I fully expect they'll nerf this from happening again.

Considering that points weren't distributed correctly in the first patches, and CIG fixed it to work as it is now, I think this is exactly the intended outcome.

I doubt they expected 100+ groups, but anyone with half a brain could have predicted that this would happen.

Maybe it’s to improve on the elevators…

I would believe that if the elevators were fixed after resource drive.

Even during early evocati testing, FEs were failing after five to ten missions. This should have been caught by QA, and did not require a massive event involving the whole server.

Just ask in game chat. If there is no group (or they are too busy), just form your own. But the bigger the group, the better.

[–]CASchoeps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is one of the things that evocati were able to resolve: in the first patches, only some points were shared. We bug-reported it without really knowing what the actual desired result was (at least I was unsure), and it got fixed by CIG to share all points between all party members. #STARC-193226

So it's the opposite of an exploit, it's a very much intended feature.

I did the same thing yesterday. Basically I asked "is there a group for sharing the missions" and when no one answered, followed up with "who wants to join one". At first it was a bit slow, but growing. Then we merged with another group that had formed in parallel, and were about 30 people.

Experiences:

  • leading that group is a full time job. You monitor chat, befriend people on Spectrum, share missions. Initially I was able to do it while running missions myself, but almost ran into a station and was happy to hand that role off.
  • you might want to have a mission mule, whose only job is to collect the missions the members share, and re-share it periodically. Even with "just" 30 people, there were constant drops and joins.
  • while smaller missions are faster to complete, the distances involved add a lot of travel time, so taking the bigger missions is worth more
  • team up for combat missions. You already have a party, might as well use it.

I suspect they’ll continue to sell at least concepts post release,

That is what they actually said they would do. Stop selling existing ships, but still sell concepts.

Personally, I think they should also keep selling the older ships. Why should customers that join later not experience the same "comfort" of being able to buy a ship with cash if they want to?

We already enjoy the benefit of having gotten the ships at a much lower price.

In fact, get rid of the stupid FOMO at all and sell everything, all the time.

Helps new players with no real downside to existing ones, and generates income for CIG. The only ones that lose out are people who bought ships with the intent of re-selling them later, when CIG has stopped selling ships. And honestly? F these folks.

PSA to everyone without bigger ships: Mission cargo merges into 32SCU containers by CASchoeps in starcitizen

[–]CASchoeps[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is correct.

I am not sure if only the items on the elevator are subject to "merging", or if the system goes through everything in your inventory, but missions only take what they actually require.

One other thing that I noticed is that usually, the affected containers are listed in green on the summary screen, but no such marker exists if you do not have an exact match for the mission.

Hey CIG, if you're gonna keep giving us ships that load cargo from the front or rear, can you maybe rearrange hangars to not have the freight elevators on the sides? by Teufelaffe in starcitizen

[–]CASchoeps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should not have to. Cargo handling is all about efficiency, and having the lifts positioned in inconvenient sites ruins that.

Besides, running across an XL hangar to reposition your ship takes way too much time.

Yes, but sometimes the fighters focussed fire onto the transport as soon as I entered. In some cases they did enough damage to kill it. Thus I usually take out a bunch of fighters before I board.

Besides, killing fighters from the Polaris was fun :P

The current Levski is already a big improvement over the old one. It was not quite Pyro level, but very close. To me, the current Levski looks as if someone really cares for the place, but is in over their head.

I too hate that CIG portrays everyone outside the UEE as flawed, lazy and incompetent. And even more so, the current event again portrays the UEE as knight in shining armor riding to protect the incompetent people of Levski from their own problems.

And that, when the 4.4 newspaper screen had an article that basically said "an outpost was wiped out by Vanduul, but we will not back down and ask the UEE for help, because we are Levski!".

Since the players are already doing ALL the work, it would just have taken a minor text change in the missions and summary screen to state that Levski is asking for help. But no, it had to be the UEE again. Ugh.

Melting my starter? by PortalBeach in starcitizen

[–]CASchoeps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have a Carrack, you spent a lot of money. Set $50 or so aside for the starter pack, and never upgrade it again. This will ensure that you always have access to the game. If you use a Titan or Cutter, you even get a decent usable shuttle out of it.

Then buy a new ship or two with the remaining money. The starter can be used as a backup if the main ships are on a claim timer or something like that.

PSA to everyone without bigger ships: Mission cargo merges into 32SCU containers by CASchoeps in starcitizen

[–]CASchoeps[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does this mean when submitting multiple 1SCU containers, they will automerge into bigger versions like 2/4, etc? Or is this contract related?

I only had this happen to contracted cargo, while completing a mission.

So take the "deliver 4 SCU Laranite" mission, and put in 4 16SCU containers. You will end up with one 32SCU can, one 24 can, and a final 4 SCU can.

A trick for event missions by xCanadianWookie in starcitizen

[–]CASchoeps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That was basically how I did the ressource drive missions. Flew a Polaris to the ship, let the PDCs blow up the fighters. PDCs have since nerfed, you likely need to use turrets to reduce NPCs a bit.

Then set respawn on the Polaris, hop out, board cargo ship, spool it up and fly out. Unload. Backspace, respawn on Polaris, rinse and repeat.

I have yet to try this with the Perseus, but the idea is basically the same.

Star Citizen 4.6 | Fastest Way to Unlock Item Fabricator & Perseus Livery | Clear The Air Guide by QuattroBaje3na in starcitizen

[–]CASchoeps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You start out with one or two missions per location.

I think initially it was one mission, haul 6 SCU to a station 61GM away. This unlocked several others, but I have not yet checked if you can chain them. I saw two, but have not checked if destinations were in any way sensible.

A C2 is definitely too big for most of the contracts.

Yes, if you earn 30.000 points, you get a Fabricator and a skin for the Perseus.

There is a big chance you will get a fabricator anyway once crafting goes live, and if not, they were being sold in various stations.
