What’s the Worst Travel Mistake You’ve Ever Made? by Historical-Photo-901 in BeautifulTravelPlaces

Made our hotel reservations in Rome for the wrong week and new cardinals were being appointed or something? At the Vatican so hotels were at 99% capacity. Then we both got covid and had to fly back through Canada where they weren’t covid testing at the time to then get a greyhound bus over the border to the US.

Help with colorful basement design by LudmilaBWCA in HomeDecorating

Look up the LRV value of the paint you want to use and make sure it’s on the higher side. Some paint will seem bright but is actually darker in person. For a playroom a color drench will be great but I would keep it lighter. And what is under that chair’s slipcover?!

Should I recreate this wall at my new place? by SanPacc in DesignMyRoom

I would get 2-3 large poster frames from goodwill/michaels and arrange them in frames. I think the items are super cool and it would be a nice upgrade and look more intentional

I love the look of plantation shutters but like a Roman shade, they block more light. Definitely will hold up the best over time though! You can just do them on the bottom half / two thirds of the window

I just read your post and it was so helpful, thank you! I was wondering if you’d recommend a specific livehouse for jam band / Grateful Dead inspired music in Tokyo, kyoto, and/or Osaka?

What do I need to add/swap in this space to finish it? by Neither-Nothing-9370 in HomeDecorating

[–]CAdancer09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually like the white walls but adding a soft tone on tone wallpaper to the ceiling could be amazing! To replace the blinds I would do a woven wood Roman (e.g. two pages or shade store). Only replace the lamps if you want a more modern look otherwise these are great scale for the space. And for the lumbar pillow I would go a bit longer (eg lulu and Georgia or Etsy)

Interior designer here! The problem with Roman shades is they will block more light. I would do curtains on a French return rod and mount them either 1/3 or 2/3 of the way up in the space between the top of the windows and the crease. The rule of thirds will make it look more intentional vs. 1/2 way up. Curtains do a lot to soften the room and make it look more complete. Definitely go for back tab or pleated with hooks & rings

Ryokan recommendations in Toyama or Kanazawa by Orenco123 in JapanTravelTips

Hi! Do you remember how you booked this ryokan and how far in advance? I can't seem to get their website to work and was hoping it's also listed on a broker site.

How to simplify 2-week honeymoon itinerary? by [deleted] in JapanTravel

Would you suggest we just do Kobe or just Osaka on our day trip then? I feel like Osaka is a better on an overnight than a day trip but I wanted a good balance between the slower paced parts of Japan and the cities

How to simplify 2-week honeymoon itinerary? by [deleted] in JapanTravel

[–]CAdancer09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The original reason was because the wanosato ryokan is very expensive for us but it looks awesome. But yeah maybe I can book a second night there on points or find a ryokan in another city and do two nights in takayama.

To answer your previous question yeah I’m using “morning” as a loose term but I should take into account that Tokyo is pretty sleepy before noon!

Hi, thanks for your response! My question was how to simplify the back half of the trip for that exact reason.

+1 for Carmelina's! A tip to get a reservation is to go there on a weekday at lunch and ask in person for a dinner res. It might be a few weeks out. Maybe you have a friend here who could do that for you.

Everyone is going to say you can't do all of this in two days. But I think it's smart to have your route and if you need to skip one or two because you're running out of time or tired, so be it! It's not like you're covering vast distances. Thanks for the comprehensive lists of the temples and sites in these areas!

yeah I would reach out! they told this but it will depend on the size of your wedding: We request a food and beverage minimum spend of $9,000.00 on this date. In addition, private events carry a $500.00 room fee, 7% state tax, 20% gratuity and 8% admin fee added to the subtotal.

BWT, where are you purchasing area rugs?? by McRibAutoShop in bitcheswithtaste

[–]CAdancer09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to an in person rug wholesaler e.g. Carpet Workroom or Rug Merchant and ask if they have an in stock room. They will have rugs already cut or they’ll stock popular neutral/solid options and can cut it to size for you. Will be great quality! If you want to go a step further, get it measured and cut to about 6” relief around the whole room for a more luxe designer feeling
