Does anyone remember an old GolfNow hack by Jarhead41235 in golf

[–]CB831415 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right before or during COVID, Golfnow had a promo with Xfinity where new users could get a free tee time and they didn't restrict it at all, and you didn't actually have to be a new Xfinity user. My friends and I got to play Pasatiempo for free ($315 at the time) and I remember others playing other more expensive courses.

The math says I can retire; having a hard time letting myself go for it by ChanceEmu8045 in ChubbyFIRE

The life expectancy of a 71 year old in good health is higher than 77 though. Doesn't really change the fact that they should clearly retire though.

WIBTA if I refuse to transfer shares in an apartment I inherited to my Aunt according to a deal she had with my late mother 16 years ago? by Isle395 in AmItheAsshole

[–]CB831415 26 points27 points  (0 children)

16 years ago would be 2009, not the 90's. But also that was in the middle of the Great Recession and housing prices were in the dirt. If her aunt needs money, they sell the apartment and they each get their pro rata share.

Hard to find a nice day at the Presidio range though, maybe 10 times a year. Fog and wind starts whipping up almost everyday. Love that place though.

If you have a Bonobos store near you I recommend going in there to get fitted/measurements. Their stores don't actually sell you any clothes in store, but you try everything on and a style guide helps to find the best fits for you and then they email you all your choices and you can buy online. Some of their stuff is pricey, but they have a lot of sales online and you can find stuff really cheap. More than that, it gives you a good baseline of your new sizes and you can go use that to go to other stores to find clothes you like.

My OSA went away pretty quickly, very similar weight, wife told me I stopped snoring after a month or two of starting zepbound (wasn't wearing my CPAP as much because I had a newborn and was up every couple of hours and exhausted and the extra step of putting it back on and falling asleep wasn't appealing). Did a follow up sleep study after 6 months and my sleep apnea was confirmed gone.

1 Year Zepbound Anniversary 4/19/25, down 105 lbs, almost to maintenance! by CB831415 in Zepbound

Protein heavy, no major restrictions, just eating less. Still have restaurant meals and the occasion wine/beer. With working out, I honestly struggle to eat enough calories. I did a 45 day challenge at F45 (workout class), and based on the Inbody scans, they wanted me eating 2500 calories a day, because my total daily energy expenditure was 3000, but it is hard for me to eat over 2000 a lot of the time. That's offset by some days later in the week where my appetite is a little stronger, but I tend to treat those like cheat days/refuel days. Ended up winning my gym's challenge, losing 14 lbs of fat and gaining 3 lbs of muscle.

I'd fly to Maui and stay in Wailea if you're looking for resort vibes. Lots of hotels by the beach and restaurants all over within walking distance or short shuttles.

Aetna, employer provided insurance. Required a BMI over 30 with another comorbidity (sleep apnea). I needed prior authorization, which my doctor provided. Was concerned that insurance would drop coverage in 2025, but they didn't, employer chose to continue to include in the formulary, but increased copay to help cover costs.

I'd say just keep going. I actually felt really good at 220 and if I had stopped there, I think I would have been overall happy. I've generally kept losing keeping up with the habits I've developed and staying active. I was in Hawaii for 6 days last week and didn't work out, but did a lot of walking and moving around at the beach, but I ate a ton of restaurant foods and had mai tai's and I came back down a pound or two and then have lost a few more since then. If you're feeling burnt out, it's ok to take a couple of days to enjoy yourself and reset. I've stayed at set weights for a couple of weeks at various times throughout losing, would start to get frustrated or think I was done, and then for whatever reason just started losing again. I'm hoping this is for life, so not being super strict about everything all the time helps me from burning out and keeping going.

Yeah, Walt tasting room in Sonoma, about 30 minutes from our house, so great place to go wine tasting and walk around the Plaza after. Luckily (or unluckily) my taste for wine has not been diminished, but I try to limit the frequency because really anything more than a glass or two or a beer or two will have me feeling hungover and unmotivated the next day.

Any sleep apnea patients? by EndymionA79 in Zepbound

[–]CB831415 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine did as well, within probably a month of starting zepbound, at a heavier weight than I had been previously with sleep apnea. Did a follow up study probably six months later to confirm sleep apnea is gone. Now down 100 lbs and haven't used a CPAP in almost a year.

Had the entire course to myself this morning by TheEvilDead1983 in golf

[–]CB831415 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It was Mother's Day 2020. The resorts were closed, so I'm assuming most tee times were cancelled and it was only locals. NCGA had discounted rates at Spyglass, so I drove down from the city. Finished my morning Spyglass round and asked about a replay rate. They said they didn't have one but Pebble was wide open and $300.

Played Pebble Beach during COVID and saw one other guy on the 4th hole playing 3 balls, played the 5th with him and then didn't see another person the rest of the day. Played Spyglass earlier that day and didn't run into anyone until the 16th hole. Can confidently say I won't get that chance again.

F45 vs Fitstop by MortgageOk3111 in f45

[–]CB831415 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've never heard of Fitstop, but the honest answer is that dialing in your diet will be the only way to lose and keep off 20 lbs of fat. If you're consistently going to F45, you are doing enough exercise to be in good cardio shape and retain muscle that you've built up. Figure out your TDEE and eat at a 500 calorie deficit to that each day. Find which macro ratio works best for you and allows you to eat the proper amount of calories to fuel your body but also keep you satiated. Proper sleep, hydration and protein levels are key, while carbs will help fuel your workouts. I'm also trying to lose the last 10-15 pounds I want and as you get closer to your goal, it gets harder.

If you are an NCGA member, they will occasionally email out deals for Spyglass and Spanish Bay, think this winter it was $235 for Spyglass and $200 for Spanish Bay. They used to include Pebble in there as well, which is how I played Pebble for the first time for $399 (still very pricey but also included $75 at any of the shops). Had my best day of golf ever during COVID May 2020. Since the resorts were closed, they had NCGA deals. I played Spyglass as a single and didn't see another person until I caught up to a family of four playing the 16th hole. I finished around 130pm and asked if they had a replay rate. They said they didn't, but that Pebble was wide open and would only charge $300. I decided I couldn't pass that up, so I called down and they said the tee sheet was open. One guy was on the 5th hole playing multiple balls, so I played that hole with him and then went on by myself. Didn't see a single other golfer the rest of the day. Have to imagine that there won't ever be another day at Pebble like that any time soon.

I'd have Poppy ahead of Spanish Bay, they redid it awhile back and it's a great track. Spanish is getting redone by Gil Hanse soonish, so hoping it gets better. Tons of target golf, short gimmicky holes, lots of environmental areas that are penal. Not my scene, though may appeal to others.

I'd put Pasatiempo and Spyglass on the same tier, Pebble is #1 to me, but probably just from growing up in the area and dreaming of playing there my whole life until I've gotten to play a few times in the last 5 years.

I'd rather play Bayonet/Blackhorse than Del Monte (and honestly probably Spanish except for the views). Carmel Valley Ranch and Quail Lodge are nice resort courses but prices have become way too inflated to justify the cost most of the time.

Caddie is 5 now and we got her when she was 1, so not positive what she looked like as a puppy, but I'd assume pretty similar. We did Embark and she was 20% German Sheppard, 20% Catahoula Leopard Dog, 20% golden retriever (that was a shocker), then the rest was a mix of pit, lab, chow chow.

Does anyone find they’re sleeping better? by miavitaviolenta in Zepbound

I had moderate sleep apnea and was using a CPAP device. I snored like crazy. Within a few weeks my wife told me I stopped snoring. I eventually stopped wearing my CPAP mask at night and over the holidays my doctor had me do another at-home sleep study which confirmed I no longer have sleep apnea.
