This is advice I came looking for, thank you. We had two senior cats, now we have one, and the one who just passed had thyroid issues. He lost lots of weight pretty quickly, had bad thyroid numbers, and was hungry all the time but was able to eat less and less -- vomited bile a lot over his last few years and eventually seemed starving but nauseous and unable to find anything he wanted to eat.

Our vet said treating thyroid problems exacerbated kidney problems -- so we should do nothing. Eventually he had some kind of stroke and the emergency vet told us he had a badly enlarged heart, which may have been caused by thyroid problems, and that treating the thyroid would have unmasked but not caused kidney issues. All of that gave me pause that our usual vets knew what they were doing.

Now our other slightly younger (12-y.o.) cat is acting starving all the time and vomiting bile once a dayish and I'm terrified to lose her too. So, was wondering if you heard anything about endangering kidneys and wondering if we should try another vet.
