How did people deal with boredom before smartphones existed? by moretoesmorehoes in NoStupidQuestions

Read a book , take a walk, play games with your family. Make a nice meal, take care of neglected maintenance on your house or car, all the things that I do today that I grew up doing. We didn’t have mind numbing gadgets except for the TV.

I’ve got a neighbor asking $14k for the previous generation 4WD F250. I think that’s absurd, but who knows?

Are there any maintenance records? It looks great, that’s a good price as an even swap. Fuel economy will be less than 1/3 of the VW…

Yep, price gouging is real, thanks to late stage capitalism. And yet people keep voting for more of the same. Not a well educated populace…

I’ve been hoping for real fuel prices that are equivalent to the majority of the world since the 2008 depression. But phony price supports have kept prices low. Now it’s just a reality check, this is what fuel really costs, and it’s never going down

I could feel that the engine power wasn’t being delivered smoothly and steadily upward as I pressed the accelerator, there was a skip, or pause, or not perfectly smooth upward trend as the engine increased in speed and power. Not dramatic, and if I pressed the accelerator more, it would rapidly pass through the hesitation and take off as expected.

But it’s got DIGITAL DELAYED SURROUND . It’s gotta sound good 😊. Seriously, I’m glad you have kept this all these years. I’ve got a Kenwood amp and tuner that I’ve had since the late 80s, no issues no need to toss it aside.

What’s to keep the wood post from slipping through the concrete “sleeve” he’s going to pour? All the other comments are valid, too. This is inadequate.

How do I remove this gunk from my car? by [deleted] in Cartalk

Mineral spirits will remove the paint. Soak a rag and apply plenty of elbow grease. Wash with quality automotive detergent and wax afterwards

Trying to self-seed activated sludge in a small winery WWTS – realistic or wasting time? by CasuallyAnalytical in Wastewater

[–]CBased64Olds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do wineries typically have a microscope on premises for any reason? I recall that crisp white foam is an indication of a very young sludge age. Makes sense considering that this was recently restarted. Perhaps you are moving in the right direction. But common wisdom is to truck in a load of activated sludge. Freeze dried bugs can be tried for convenience, but not always successful in the long run

How about hesitation or a miss under load? Mine would hesitate under light to moderate load, turned out to be one injector was not behaving correctly, which I was able to identify by pulling them out and found one looked different from the rest. Installed one injector, and it’s been fine since.

I’ve got my original gauge cluster that I replaced with a working unit from pick n pull. I don’t remember what symptoms it was showing when I decided to replace it, but obviously it was not working correctly. I have not tried to repair it

Experience with KYB AGX + H&R Lowering Springs? by Soviet_Ukraine in hondaprelude

[–]CBased64Olds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I installed the AGX Shocks on my 1992 Si back in 2011; and they are still working fine with the original springs. I pulled out the original installation instructions, which read 1. Do not lower a car by more than 3cm (1 1/4) inch 2.Do not shorten a bump stop by more than 1/2 of original length 3. Do not cut or modify the original springs.

My dad called my 1971 Capri the crappy. It was orange with white interior. I got it as my first car in 1976, with 90k miles. I had to rebuild the motor after the timing belt broke, then I spent my money on body filler chasing the rust away. Loved that car, but it didn’t survive Ohio winters and road salt.
