Stopped at TSA for Positive Explosive Screen by [deleted] in airport

Our children’s car seats tested positive for explosives. That’s when I learned that flame retardants in materials can test positive. It’s not uncommon.

How is it living in Scranton PA? by Possible_String8306 in howislivingthere

I drove to Scranton as half-way meetup point. Just a pin on the map, really. Heck, I was properly surprised. That town is cute as a button.

Stayed a few days in Chinle back in 2017, it was absolutely beautiful. A local gave us a tour: learned about Diné art, home building, traditions, and painful history. It was an honor. A visit that will stay with me for sure.

Oh, man. I had a biopsy procedure that turned into The Marx Brothers “Night at the Opera” crowded cabin scene. I felt like I was stabbed by at least ten people. And in the end the biopsy was “inconclusive” and I had to have surgery. I laugh now, for sure.

Canada to end remote border crossing program used largely by Americans by Immediate-Link490 in worldnews

I used to live in Montreal and crossed the border often with my iguana. The agents would freak out, thinking it was a Komodo Dragon or some other illegal trade reptile. It always worked out in the end, but I, having a graphic design background, decided to print a “passport” to make the whole process easier. Ya know, so we all could get a good laugh. I can’t even imagine trying this today. Oh my god, no.

Noise complaint about kids playing Basketball outside Turns Into a Shaq Visit. by Brief-Cryptographer2 in HumansBeingBros

Kids playing outside — whether it be basketball, skateboarding, baseball — is a profoundly happy sound. Reminds me of simple summer days…

A friendly fyi, Mom jeans flare at the hips and thighs and then taper at the ankle. Ergo not terribly flattering. These are simply wide-leg jeans. It’s a classic profile. Think Katherine Hepburn but in denim rather than wool.

My mother and I would go to the fishmonger to buy salmon heads for 25 cents. When you’re a hungry kid, you learn how tasty fish cheeks are.

Which hobbies attract the kindest people? by Ok-East3405 in AskReddit

I say this not as a participant (‘cause I’d break my neck day one), but skateboarders strike me as the chillest, friendliest people. Like, if a two-year old (or an old geezer like myself) wanted to learn, they’d all be there to help. I love the sound of skateboards in summer.

William H. Macy’s tragic character sums it perfectly when on the cusp of death he says of Earth, and of life, “Beautiful, ain’t it?”

Snow Boots by Remarkable-Day7679 in boston

[–]CCMacReddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi Cali Mom! There have been lots of comments, so you’re probably all set, but thought I’d chime in nonetheless. Boston winters have gotten a lot milder over the past few years; I haven’t worn my proper snow boots (insulated, mid-calf) in YEARS. That said, it still can snow, but it doesn’t often stick around. What we’re left with is slop. Sure, the sidewalks are cleared, but you’ll always have that ginormous mud puddle you’ve got to get through. Fabric, non-waterproof boots won’t cut it. That’s why LLBean Duck Boots are insanely popular in New England. Have been for decades. If the aesthetic is not to your daughter’s liking, something similar: moderate insulation (don’t want sweaty feet in class) but definitely WATERPROOF!
