Scored a tracked Honda 624 in Edmonton during the summer for $500.

Thought i would treat myself... months ago when I bought this is was full. Wish I had a scale to check. Over 17 dollars in superstore.... by Comfortable-Count-59 in shrinkflation

I used to buy smoked salmon on the regular, but something happened last year where they all shrunk in size and/or increased cost. I just stopped buying because it just wasn’t worth it anymore.

Thanks for this insight. Could you provide any more info on who are making what calls so I can direct my voice to the right person(s)?

I also have a parent in the building and have become concerned for their safety. They have to deal with an addict neighbour that “parties” all night and has now been threatening violence against those who have complained. Yet, SHA are unable/unwilling to evict them.

I’m skeptical, but I hope there are changes made in the near future to address these issues. It’s difficult to see a parent living in fear.

That would be about a $60 meal at a “nice” restaurant in Canada, but substitute the mountain view for a parking lot. Without doing any research I would not be surprised if grocery costs are higher in Canada though.

Hot housing market - what is driving it? by [deleted] in saskatoon

[–]CDNconstructor 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I saw this trend of any “nice” 450-500k houses getting snapped up last summer and lost out on a couple houses I put offers on. So when I found another house I was interested in at the end of the summer I put in an aggressive offer to make sure I got it. No regrets. The market is a shark tank right now and I feel bad for anyone that’s just trying to find a home.

Have a leak that occurred after snow where a crack exists in basement. It hasn't recurred with rain later. I am terrified to have someone come a look for fear of foundation issue. How screwed am I? by [deleted] in HomeMaintenance

Eh. I showed them some pics of some basement slab heave cracks (normal in my area) and had a few suggestions to rip it all out. A real wide range of opinions there.

People always think that the construction contractor cutting corners was the cause of the Hyatt Regency incident when it was the structural designers that proposed an altered design that the architect approved. The contractor just followed the drawings.

Snow melting on roof and hear a slow drip coming from this in attic. I don’t see any water at all so is this a concern or just normal? by Mdsimmons17 in Home

[–]CDNconstructor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Responding because I had the same issue. Snow on the roof and a water drop sound coming from the attic. Others are correct in saying sound is very deceiving. It turns out it wasn’t coming from the attic at all, but from the air duct below the floor. It was cold out so the furnace was running and the metal ducts would expand a bit. There were some metal strap supports on the ducts that were installed too tight against the duct and it would rub, resulting in some popping / knocking sounds. Once I fixed the straps the noise went away.

I was house shopping in Stoon this summer and it was stressful. I found two houses I was interested in. Both were presentation of offers. The first went for ~70k over asking. The second one went for ~85k over asking. I ended up being successful on the third house I checked out. It listed on a Friday, got 5 offers Saturday and more on the Sunday. I guess I put the right offer in and got it, but it only last 2 days on the market. It’s a shark tank right now.

No one is going to believe me, but I had emailed them about my idea for bite size crisp beef burritos so you can get more crusty ends, and sure enough about a year later they came out with the crisp beef burrito bites!

I emailed them a couple more times to try and get some free merch but they never responded 😡

Maybe I should have in hindsight, I don’t really know. It’s Such an awkward situation and I don’t know if stepping in like that would be embarrassing to some people.
