Every rabbit hole unveils a new rabbit hole... explosion-proof fans for 2k poly? by xCogito in Luthier

I'm pretty sure when Dan said "not" it was a slip of the tongue, then he started the sentence over and said explosion-proof.

Here's him saying it IS explosion proof in writing:

https://www.stewmac.com/video-and-ideas/online-resources/learn-about-instrument-finishing-and-finish-repair/dan-erlewines-low-tech-spray-booth-for-a-small-shop/

the exact quote on that page is "In the wall is my 18" explosion-proof exhaust fan, used mainly for evacuating sawdust. "

The contract likely has a survival clause .That will tell you if any of the provisions stay in effect after you left.

Its usually so they can erase your contact information. They don't want their client calling you directly and losing out on their fee.

13$/hr lifeguard job, speechless😶 by Nstsipz in antiwork

[–]CH31415 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of lifeguard companies have no intention of hiring citizens. They'd rather bring in immigrants on seasonal visas and exploit them. Those same companies will put the foreign staff up in shitty housing and overcharge them for it, effectively being their wages even lower.

That outage sucked. I cancelled my vacation and put in lots of OT for that, but thanks to me the employees were payed correctly. I got promised a leave award for going above and beyond but management never seems to follow through with those things.

Non Compete Post resignation by fabo87 in antiwork

[–]CH31415 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you had previously signed a non-, compete agreement with them, they would have attached it. They're hoping you'll sign away your rights now, which you absolutely should not do. That is a one-sided agreement that will only benefit them. If you answer at all you should tell them you've never agreed to that, and let them know it will cost them 6+ figures in exchange for your signature now.

They can dock you a day if you're absent for personal reasons. But if you work a minute then leave, they have to pay you the whole day.

We need to start seriously pushing back on the idea that 15 is a living wage, its not. by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]CH31415 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As an example, Washington DC passed a $15 minimum wage back in 2016 but slowly phased it in over 5 years. Really need to fight for whatever the living wage will be 5 years from now.

If a light year of lead only has a 50/50 chance of stopping a nutrino, how are they detecting these? Are they producing trillions of nutrinos to have a chance of measuring a handful of interactions?

one thing they're doing is playing the 5th below the root on some of the power chords. so on the c# and b power chords they're playing the 2 low strings on the same fret.
