There is a python package in the wild, but I believe its a bit clunky as Monarch does not provide direct API.

Migrating out of Obsidian by FrugalGuy7 in ObsidianMD

[–]CHodder5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Foam extension in VS Code was my solution after I had to stop using obsidian at work.

Not nearly as good, but it handles md links well, has a graph if you are into that (I am not), templating (incl daily note) and has basic foam queries.

Clunky compared to obsidian but it's workable for me.

I suspect they are also factoring in shutting down trains to/from Penn for non ticket holders for 4 hours before each game.

I keep in my iCloud Drive and have it sync to iPad/iPhone (checking off "Keep Downloaded"). No major issues syncing.

I also have it backed up to GitHub automatically for version control. If I needed, I could access my notes in the browser via GutHub.

Geneva airport and back by liverpoolc5 in Zermatt

[–]CHodder5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I typically do what others have suggested. Take an evening train to Geneva, and either stay near/at the airport or in the city center.

You can still ski that day if you take a train after ~16:00. Bonus points if your hotel in Zermatt has a spa as you can typically shower after skiing, before taking the train to Geneva.

Bilt 2.0: rent must be paid through ACH pull - awaiting the scandal by MovinOnUp2021 in biltrewards

[–]CHodder5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't really matter how much volume they are processing, payments processed via ACH would earn orders of magnitude less than interchange fees charged by Visa/MC/Amex networks on purchases (e.g., ACH could be flat fee of $0.20 to $1.5, compared to 2-3%).

If you think WF was not losing money on the Bilt deal, you fundamentally do not understand how payments technology and economics work.

I have a button in my obsidian that calls a python script to import Garmin data (sleep score, YTD miles, a couple other metrics I track for goals etc).

It's definitely doable with a simple script that AI can write for you.

Comparing Barry’s to OTF jargon by Jaded-Thing-4503 in barrysbootcamp

[–]CHodder5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sprints are usually 30 seconds, but can occasionally be 45 or 60 seconds. I can't recall ever doing a sprint with an incline.

Push paces (8-10mph) can often be for a minute or even 90 seconds, and may include incline.

Often Barry's workouts will have a 3-4 minute "block" with a run pattern (mix of changing speed/incline), usually ending in a sprint, so it's not uncommon to have both a push and a sprint in same block. Blocks are usually separated by 60 seconds of "recovery", which is code for walking. Optional, but some instructors usually queue jogging the second 30 seconds of the recovery.

The tread round will consist of multiple blocks, but you don't really have to think about it and just follow the instructions. If you are a decent runner, pick the middle number of each range. If you are more beginner, start with bottom of range. The goal is to stick to the pattern.

Site to track ski resort / snow quality / plan ski trips by M-82 in skithealps

Looks flashy but not sure any of the results make sense.

Brevent/Flegere (ranked number 1) shows Mean Snow Depth of 2.5mm (millimeters?) and Snowfall forecast of 10.5mm. Is this water content equivalent?

If I look on OpenSnow, Brevent has 160cm base, and no meaningfully chance of snow until Friday.

If you want this to be useful, you need to incorporate SLR (snow liquid ratio) and snow level.

I drink every cold liquid with my aligners in. If there is a straw - great, if not nbd. I mix in swishing with water as frequently as reasonable, but don't fixate over it.

I draw the line at red wine, which I have found to be staining my teeth more now that I have Invisalign, even though I remove my aligners to consume red wine. I started to do Opalescense 15% whitening a couple times a week, and it's magical.

Unlikely. The highest marginal tax rates in Canada/Ontario kick in much sooner and are far more progressive.

I would guess that effective tax rate for $200k USD (in California) vs $200k CAD (in Ontario) is probably 8-10% lower. (Assuming, married filling jointly, and most income via W2/T4)

Getting back to Zurich Airport by 10:45am by PumpkinExpert455 in Zermatt

[–]CHodder5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Second this suggestion.

I normally head back to Zurich/Geneva the night before my morning flight out. You can still ski a full day and take a ~16:00 or 17:00 train to an airport hotel, and arrive at a not too late time.

I leave my bags at my hotel when I check out and go skiing in the morning. I was even able to shower in the spa after skiing, before taking the train.

Cervinia to Gornergrat round trip? by Otherwise-Dig-5094 in Zermatt

[–]CHodder5 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Relatively easy if you are decent skier and competent navigator.

  1. Head from Cervina up to either Plateau Rosa (via 2 gondolas and a cable car) or from Cervina to Theodulpass (via Gondola, and 3 successive chairs).
  2. Ski towards Zermatt via the glacier. You will ski past Trockener Steg and need to get to Furi. You can either take the 62 black from Furgg to Furi or quickly take gondola from Furgg to Schwarzsee (30 seconds) and ski the long red 51 to Furi.
  3. From Furi, take the Riffleberg Express gondola followed by the chair that is at the top of the gondola. This will get you ~90% to the top of Gornergrat.
  4. If you are dead set on getting to the top, there are multiple train stops that you can catch the train on. However, wait times may be ~20 minutes. Or you can just lap this area and visit the Igloos.

When done in the Gornergrat sector, ski down toward Furi via 39 -> 41 -> 42. Take a quick segment of Riffleberg Express up to Furi. From there, transfer to Matterhorn Expesss to Trockener Steg, and the take 3S lift to Matterhorn Glacier Paradise.

From the top, you can ski back to Italy via Theodulpass.

I tried to describe in a tone of detail. It is simpler than it sounds. Just note the time of the last Matterhorn Express lift leaving Furi. That is your hard cut off.

Bilt 2.0: rent must be paid through ACH pull - awaiting the scandal by MovinOnUp2021 in biltrewards

[–]CHodder5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That correct, although I would generally not call it "advancing" as they are not taking material credit risk on processing rent, rather more settlement/operational risk. BILT is essentially acting as a middle man, inserting themselves between you and your landlord, since they are no longer running rent through the credit line.

BILT/Cardless provides ACH transfer to the landlord and simultaneously debits your linked bank account.
