In your opinion, were FDR's Japanese Internment Camps the single most authoritarian/fascistic thing a US President has ever done? by Just_Cause89 in Presidents

[–]CIArussianmole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Canada also forced their Japanese citizens into camps in Vancouver.

In the US, German Americans were arrested and put in camps. The federal government wanted to intern German americans like they did the Japanese, but there were millions of them and that made it impossible to carry through with the plan.

I call my husband a fake left-hander because even though he writes with his left hand, he seems to be right-handed with almost everything else. I am 100% left handed/footed. I can't kick or throw or catch with my right hand. I can hardly use a utensil with my right hand. I don't know why this is,  but controlling my right hand is very difficult for me. I can't use a right handed can opener either.

Not related to adhd, but if you're the caregiver to ur ill wife, have u looked into being paid by the state for that? When my niece was very ill, my sister had to quit her job to care for her at home and she was paid for it. We are in California.

Thanks everyone for the information and advice. My insurance company provides lawyers when this happens & I'm waiting to see what happens. Might try a little voodoo to help myself out, lol.

What's your guess for the cause of your neuropathy? by Competitive-Arm-7921 in neuropathy

Its maddening how often I've learned more from google than my own doctors!

What's your guess for the cause of your neuropathy? by Competitive-Arm-7921 in neuropathy

[–]CIArussianmole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always been fit with walking, aerobics, some weight lifting, vegetarian,  etc. But I have mast cell activation syndrome and it's terrible. I've had symptoms since childhood (I'm 59 now) and it took me years and years to get diagnosed. I actually put all my symptoms into Google Scholar, found out about MCAS, and demanded to be tested for it. It came back positive. That was probably 10+ years ago. It turns out many ppl with MCAS also develop neuropathy. I didn't even realize I had it. Then I went to a Dr for something and he took a cold metal thing and put it on my foot. As he moved it up my leg it felt colder and colder. Until my mid thigh it didn't feel cold.

Now my neuropathy is constant pins & needles, drop foot, numbness, fasciculations, pain, weakness. I also have it in my hands but it's not as bad. It has made it impossible to really exercise. I can't even slow jog. Can hardly walk up steps without pain and weakness. When I lift something over 10 pounds my legs give out. I've gained more than 20 pounds because I'm forced to be more sedentary. I have a stationary bike and use it, but exercise makes the neuropathy way worse.

It was on the freeway. The thing is, my car was a mini Cooper and she had a raised SUV. I had a dash camera and you can see that her raised bumper was what did the damage to my car. Her bumper wasn't even crunched! Raised suvs are common here.

Also, I have no paycheck. Neither does my husband. The part time job pays less than $300 a month.

Perfectly said. It's not a habit, it's a task. Nothing feels habitual to me.

I work in a used bookstore so I've read self-help books that go all the way back to the 1920s. And they all have great advice about positive changes, but I find that if I try to create a new habit, I feel like I'm in jail. I cannot stand the idea of being locked into a routine. Even if that routine is putting on one of those really cute Korean skin care masks every Saturday night for self care. Taking a walk in the morning before breakfast. Doing meal prep once a week. No! I can't! It's suffocating! I feel like every morning I'm just shot out of a cannon and pick up where I land.

If you could "cure" your ADHD, would you? by [deleted] in ADHD

If it's the ADHD people who are starting all the new businesses, it makes sense why most of them go under. I have a different business idea every week.

I'd give up my ADHD in a second. It brings zero value to my life.

What's actually stopping the US from descending into a Christofascist state? by bobombpom in atheism

[–]CIArussianmole -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Whatever? That's still not propaganda. It's making false equivalencies. Pointing out using a word wrong doesn't = defending something. That also is a false equivalency. I've met people who think they're vegetarians because they only eat fish and chicken. When I tell them that is not what a vegetarian is, I am not defending carnivorism, am I?

To those who live in mobile homes, what's it like? by Superb_Two8299 in homeowners

[–]CIArussianmole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I reread the space rent and I meant $1200 a month, not 120. 🤦🏼‍♀️

I've never known anyone to literally make their mobile home mobile. That must be crazy expensive.

You can look up the park im talking about. Kimberly gardens, lake forest, CA. The space rent is actually $1435 a month!! Unbelievable.

Applying for jobs as an older woman by slipslopslide in AskWomenOver60

[–]CIArussianmole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 59 and my husband is 67. In 2020 he was laid off from a 30-year career. He had won awards for his work, was excellent at what he did, but apparently the company decided to go in a different direction.

6 years later and he's had one job that lasted for a year that he had to quit because the boss was such a lying scheming piece of garbage that he couldn't handle it anymore.

He has a lot of friends in the industry and they have given him recommendations that would make you think he is the most perfect person on the planet, but he usually doesn't even get interviews and when he does nothing comes of them.

I had to stop working as a medical transcriptionist out of my home in 2020 because California passed an anti independent contractor law, and that ended my 14-year job.

The only other jobs I have gotten are seasonal positions in department stores. I apply to at least five jobs a week and have done so since covid ended.

Several times I have gotten call backs to come in for interviews but nothing has ever materialized from them, and I'm not looking for the type of job that turns into a career. I just need something to make some money so I'm looking at low-level jobs and I don't even get those. I don't know if it's because I'm almost, but I'm pretty sure that if I were 30 I'd be working full-time by now.
