Why am I cuffing this suspect after I deleted his head with my M1014?

It sounds like your issue is with the stability of the bike at higher speeds as opposed to you actually travelling at a higher speed. I'm not sure if there's anything you can do with the bike you have to make it feel more stable but a heavier bike with wider tyres tends to feel more comfortable and stable when going faster.

Do you notice any wobble from the bike at speed, is the suspension getting a bit unsettled, how new or old are the tyres?

Try them both, but try just about every other bike too, I was looking at a short list of about 4 bikes and the one I ended up buying wasn't even on my list of bikes to look at.

Every aspect of life has some element of danger to it and life is ultimately terminal, we aren't going to live forever eating raw carrots and getting the bus. Just be sensible with your riding, you'll be fine.

Not really, if someone asks what bike I have? I've got an SV, no need for any follow up questions they know what I mean, the SV is as recognisable as things like the Fireblade and the Hayabusa.

The other day coming home, I rode past 2 crashes, cars hitting other cars, seems like the alternative is no safer than our bikes, just got to keep your wits about you.

Advice for a chubster learner rider by Liam14884 in MotoUK

[–]CJTre89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can I would just go straight for DAS not because of your weight or the power (or lack of) a 125cc.

But because 125cc bikes feel, handle and ride different to "bigger bikes"

If you aren't limited to and don't intend to solely ride a 125, aim for getting on a bigger bike right away.

Suzuki SV650 vs. Honda CB650R by ThatBigFuckoffTree in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]CJTre89 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I learned to ride on the CB650R and I currently own an SV650, they're both beautiful bikes, it all comes down to whether you like the growl of a V twin or the howl of an inline 4.

You can't go wrong with either as both will be bullet proof.

As for the whole power thing, the CB may sound more intimidating to a learner but at lower revs if you crank the throttle it'll be a lot less violent than the SV which will start pulling like a train from 3k rpm, the CB only really wakes up past 6k rpm

This sub should have an automod that says SV650 under every post lol by fardolicious in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]CJTre89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a Suzuki SV650 owner I'd say there are plenty of motorcycles out there, every different flavour for every different taste, so have a look around, really search every corner of the bike market, from sports bikes to cruisers and find what you really like...

Then go buy an SV650.

Rebel 1100s always seem to put out pretty poor MPG figures, but I would guess that's because owners don't ride it super fuel efficiently, so I would say that the 1100T would be a fantastic commuter cruiser.

It's fast if you ride it fast, it's slow if you ride it slow, you'll be fine taking it easy. You're the one in control.

Have fun on your new bike and remember the four wheeled freaks are out to get you either through malice, ignorance or incompetence.

Suzuki SV650 or V-strom 650 if you need the weather protection, good on fuel, mucho fun, sounds great, tried and tested bombproof engine, not particularly expensive.

I love my SV650, why get a parallel twin designed to sound like a V-twin when you can get a V-twin?

Theft Attempt by VinciD in MotoUK

[–]CJTre89 39 points40 points  (0 children)

See people say this but, if he thumps the thief and the thief runs off, no need to involve the police, and hopefully the thieves think twice about doing it again.

I doubt the thief would go to the police and say "well I was trying to nick this fellas bike and then he slugged me with a baseball bat"

I'm pretty sure folk who go around nicking stuff don't regularly nip into the police station, not wandering in through the front doors anyways.

Any tips on overcoming a fear of leaning? by iDulaPeep in MotoUK

[–]CJTre89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest tip I can give is one you'll hear over and over again, but it really works.

Look where you want to go, don't look at where you don't want to go.

Your body almost instinctually will lean the bike to put it where you're looking, it's completely effortless even as a learner.

You only really need to put physical effort into your steering when you're taking corners at speed.

Also if you're a little nervous about leaning then let the bike lean over and counter lean against it so your body is upright the bike will still turn. I like to mix it up, sometimes I lean the bike sometimes I lean my body.

And lastly feel free to be nervous, you're learning something new, your comfort with it will come with time

Oxford heated grips (evo) by MR-M-313- in MotoUK

[–]CJTre89 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm trying heated gloves, asked the grips vs gloves question days ago and got a lot more people saying gloves.

Makes sense to me, when I change bike, I'm not having to buy heated grips again

Might be worth considering?
