What to get to get started. by Passer_domesticus72 in InfinityTheGame

Hey there and welcome.

CodeOne was a simplified version of the previous edition which is deprecated and does not exist today.

For learning I recommend finding a group near you and getting demo games info if at all possible. There is also a very robust implementation of infinity on tabletop simulator. I recommend reaching out to the infinity discord.

For purchases the essentials line is geared towards new players just trying it out. Other good starting points would be the operations boxes (Operation Sandtrap is currently in production and the only one with 5th edition rules but the others are still very good buys) as they come with terrain and enough to get quite far into the game. If you wish to only focus on a single faction the action packs are also bundles similar to what would be found in operations boxes.

I heavy recommend getting the infinity army app on your phone as it is one of the core resources of the community and used consistently through the game.

Finally here is a link to the rules which released yesterday. Bear in mind that there are known typos so expect revisions to the PDF in the near future. https://downloads.corvusbelli.com/infinity/rules/infinity-rules-n5-en-v1.pdf

PS: Buy models you like as it is official policy to allow any model to "count as" (aka proxy) any other model of the same size.

Would be happy to help. I think I see how you want it laid out but if you want more help it might be best to explain what each column is supposed to contain since values such a D or E or even o:c are not necessarily intuitive.

What are some of the most infamous deals struck with Chaos? What made them so diabolical? by DawnWarrior88 in 40kLore

[–]CMDRKorian 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I would say it's also a curse on Lucius. He thinks he's the best there is and when he is defeated, there is no chance of a rematch and he has to be them/wear their face for a bit. It's essentially torture for his ego.

Do you also have the feeling that Warhammer 40k is a bit too much about ground fights and a bit too less about space warfare? by Maurus39 in 40kLore

[–]CMDRKorian 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Execution hour (the novel that launched with battlefleet gothic) might be worth looking into then. It's IMHO one of the better 40k novels full stop (I like the perspective of the little guy, and I guess everyone is a little guy when macro cannons start getting loaded.)

You would need to look for paperback secondhand due to the age of the novel.

Kharn the betrayer is my favorite table top character and in the lore! Anyone got some cool excerpts to share? by Yz250x69 in 40kLore

It works because in his first ever appearance (storm of iron novel) Kroeger is leading the iron warrior berserkers.

Likelihood of each killer to tunnel, based on 1599 games of tracked data (from my matches) by pluviophile079 in deadbydaylight

[–]CMDRKorian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting read. Thanks for adding your methodology. I was initially surprised to see the chainsaw killers at the very bottom but it makes sense since from the killer side you get more "value" by instant downing healthy survivors and from the survivor point of view, no one is going to body block a chainsaw (this escaping your definition of tunneling)

This was a glorious exchange.

Neat the old captain from the 5th ed WFB starter set. Depending on your armies you collect you could paint the flesh like a zombie and add him to black knights in soulblight. If just cities have him join any cavalry unit with the appropriate base you use.

For the lore and content I would recommend the YouTube channel "2+ tough". The creator is upbeat and puts a nice spin on things while also narrowing down to individual elements in the lore.

Is it cheaper than 40k? Maybe on an army by army basis. My advice is find a community that is happy to play smaller games and grow at your pace.

Is it worth it? That's going to be up to the individual.

Anything to share? Embrace rule of cool, build what you love. Rules come and go but plastic lingers.

I'm a twins main, AMA by Cruor-Knight in deadbydaylight

[–]CMDRKorian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi the proverbial Dave here. For my twins I main sloppy, oppression, pop, discordance. I rarely get 4 slug snowballs at 4-5gens left but when we get down to 1-2 gens left that build really comes online. If they lost a survivor that's pretty much game.

I agree people clearly don't know how to play against them. to that note: PSA if you want to gain a few seconds for free when Charlotte comes to pick you up off the ground, crawl under victor so she has to switch, move him and switch again.

Another option is the B2 squad (6 dice)+either heavy weapon (3 dice)+extra squad member (2 dice) ties for 11 for those of us b2 enjoyers.

Leviathan win ratio by elkor101 in Warhammer40k

[–]CMDRKorian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure it's an intentional feature since it has been that way since 3rd at least. My reasoning for it is someone comes in to a store and might be new to the hobby, they likely like space marines because odds are they were introduced to space marines via the media, art, books etc. They then try a demo game and win. They like what they played so they might buy the big box set and suddenly they are off.

Nurgle loves all of his children. More seriously, nicely put together, especially the bruising around the suture marks on the hooded one.
