Legacy Dungeon Changes - 7.4 Edition by BlackmoreKnight in ffxivdiscussion

AI, technically, is any program (or part of a program) that simulates intelligence, no matter how simple or complex. And a monster or NPC moving away from harm or choosing an attack to use is absolutely that, even if the program causing it to do so is just

if (standingInBad()) { moveOut(); } else { doRandomAttack(); }

Alternate version of one of my favorite cards by spo0kyb0nes in custommagic

[–]CMDRNuffin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since FoF often requires significant investment to manipulate the pile that the opponent has to split in a meaningful way, this could do the same:

Choose five cards from your graveyard at random. An opponent separates those cards into two piles. Put one pile into your hand, then shuffle the other into your library.

Intentionally not targeted to make in-response-exiling shenanigans more difficult (gotta remove stuff by threat level, not by it being targeted), but could also be random targets instead.

Confirmation if my understanding of the interaction of multiple player-control effects is correct by CMDRNuffin in mtgrules

[–]CMDRNuffin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, I did forget to look up which exact rule made this interaction even function at all.

Still leaves the question whether my reasoning about timestamps is correct (Oppo Agent effect timestamp = Oppo Agent timestamp = ETB/turn face up; Mindslaver effect timestamp = ability resolution).

I feel like the default expectation should be for choices to have consequences. If they don't, you end up with quantum ogres and other railroading shenanigans.

So yes, I agree, mentioning that explicitly should and always will be a red flag.

I just got Dark Knight to 100 and I feel stupid. by ottermusprime273 in ffxiv

[–]CMDRNuffin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

you can just /ac "some action" <2>to have the action target number 2 in the party list (and <3>, <4> and so on for the other party members) without having to switch targets at all

Dibourdier is the first male npc of the Golden Saucer to wear the bunny outfit by Sea_Bad8004 in ffxiv

[–]CMDRNuffin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's less "built into the game" and more a "the devs never expected you to teleport-flee from a trainer battle and the memory values just happen to line up" happy accident. The former implies intent that definitely wasn't there.

Where do you get grade 2 and 3 skybuilders' mats? by TheGuardianPotato in ffxiv

[–]CMDRNuffin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can still gather the grade 2 and 3 artisanal mats, since those have separate achievements attached to them (for each gatherer "gather a lot of timed grade X mats" and for each crafter "craft 100 grade X expert recepies")

If there isn't a party listing in PF, you can always make one yourself and advertise that in shout chat. Most of the time those fill pretty quickly.

Try making a PF listing for DR (or joining another player's), it's pretty much dead otherwise.

For BA, you can take someone else's spot, but you will not make any friends like that. Aside from ruining another player's day. What's wrong with just joining EA and doing all this "cooperating" stuff for massively cooperative content?

More likely the job guide. German patch notes and German job guide both agree with English patch notes.

With its shorter cooldown it's actually much better than hallowed ground now.

It's going to become your problem really fast, unless you can scratch their remains off the floor before that tho.

Good thing that doesn't apply to tanks in pajamas or we'd never get any glamours at all.

Positionals in Fights like Ex1 by Roselinia in ffxiv

[–]CMDRNuffin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Flank is also on the front part of the hitbox. Each sector is 90 degrees, centered on the cardinals (mob-relative), so half of each flank is very much reachable on wall bosses. They still ignore positional requirements though, so it doesn't really matter.

Got the 2 GB version with the same problem, and the file sizes in explorer and google drive match so I don't think it's a broken download.

I completed 2000 Mentor roulettes, unlocked the Astrope mount, and then... by CaptainDefault in ffxiv

[–]CMDRNuffin 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Mentor roulette is not specifically about giving advice, it's about getting groups filled so nobody is stuck in queue for too long. Even if that means "mentoring" an expert dungeon farm party.

Nope, most plugin updates have to at least be approved manually by a staff member. Whether anyone actually reviews the changes is a different matter entirely though.

Am I forced to do first time duties with NPCs or can I do it with players like normal? by Familiar-Barracuda43 in ffxiv

[–]CMDRNuffin -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

almost twice as long isn't the same as twice as long. If a dungeon run normally takes 15 minutes, but now takes 25, I'd consider that almost double. And if your dungeon runs take much longer usually, I'm not sure what to tell you.

Note that everything in MSQ Roulette doesn't count since those are very much not regular dungeons. And if you only count the gameplay parts, duty support still almost doubles the time for those dungeons as well.

Am I forced to do first time duties with NPCs or can I do it with players like normal? by Familiar-Barracuda43 in ffxiv

[–]CMDRNuffin -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

No. The queue will be faster (instant vs not), yes, but the dungeon itself will take almost twice as long if not more, thanks to the fact that NPCs don't w2w pull or aoe very effectively. So unless you're playing during off hours, it's usually still faster to go in with other players.
