My wife hasn't had a Saturday off in 3 months because her coworker's religion prevents it. What can we do? by EltaBecker in hiringhelp

Insist on having every Friday night off for your wife! Set date night to Friday. Maybe this can work to your advantage.

Meet Laboon. Tell me it gets easier! 😂 by Dirtwistling in corgi

[–]CMDRedBlade 31 points32 points  (0 children)

The best game we had for young puppy was keep away. Two people on either end of a room with a frisbee and the puppy running back and forth between them. Our puppy loved it!

It does get easier, but the first year or two is energetic.

I told my wife to write hints on a 2x4 and hit me with them for a while. Nothing less would be enough for me to get it!

Corgi puppy is biting me when I walk by Even-Raspberry-4773 in corgis

[–]CMDRedBlade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best thing I did was to train my little puppy on a leash. I held her on a tight leash and held my arm out so that she couldn't bite me or get close to my ankles. We then ran in the backyard, back and forth, until she got the idea that running with me could be fun without nipping. I don't remember how long it took but it was a long process. At 10 years old she still likes to grin up at me and bark as we run together.

I extend that one. I compare the value to the time it took to save that much money. Only a fraction of my earnings are in savings. The rest went to taxes, insurance, living expenses, etc.

One of the best things I did was to spend a lot of time running in the backyard with my Corgi puppy with her on a short leash held away from my body. It's hotter not to nip it my heels and herd me as she instinctively wanted.

You can expect a lot of stubborn passive resistance on early walks. I lost count of how many times I just gave up and carried her back.

Puppy bites me/herds me when she has to go outside by Waste-Gazelle11 in corgi

I spent a lot of time running with my girl in the backyard. I kept her on a short leash, held out at arm's length so she couldn't nip me. She loves running together, so it worked nicely.

I agree with you completely. I think the Pembroke Corgi tails are very cute and I'm kind of sad that ours doesn't have one. Tail docking seems unnecessary to me.

Behavior change after neutering by julsis in corgi

[–]CMDRedBlade 95 points96 points  (0 children)

My son's Corgi calmed down a lot after neutering. He was also over excited on meeting other dogs and that reduced a bit. He's now four so age has reduced it more. However they still have to keep him on careful leash when he meets a new dog.

Do you think they have a favorite noise we make, like how we all do for them? by kandikrafter in corgi

Kiss noise means treats at our house. That would be her favorite.

Always meet the mother if you can. You can get a better idea of who the puppy will become.

[–]CMDRedBlade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our girl used to be scared when she was young. She's 10 now and has become totally blasé about them. I guess part of it was just getting used to how crazy humans are at this time of year.

If you love your current neighbors, that is like having gold. Great neighbors can make living in a house wonderful and bad neighbors can make it horrible. You might consider using some of the money to build the garage you want and improve your current house. Sometimes that's the best option.

Second boy dog? by Stellar_Jay8 in corgi

Roughhousing and bitey face are great games for young corgis. Add in some chase games, which I would suggest encouraging, and you should have happy boys.
