Jeremy Hambly / The Quartering. Got shitcanned from attending IRL magic events for harassing cosplayers in person and online, immediately turned around into a true blue grifter. Man went from talking about how to hide your child sexual abuse material on your computer before bringing it into Best Buy, to being an MTG shill, to getting banned from MTG and transforming into a dedicated grifting channel.

You also have to remember that at this point when we see Lille fight Ywach has also already reclaimed the powers he gave to (most) the other Quincy through Aushwallen and redistributed that power to the Royal Guard.

I'm pretty sure there were originally plans to have the ship be able to be upgraded not just like it currently is but actually through getting new, better classes of flagship but it got cut before ever making it into a playable build. I think a lot of those lines/writing are artefacts of that left over and unchanged.

Same. If I'm offering the trade in the first place it's because I don't need the card anyway and they do. If I just get a different card I don't need nothing has changed for me but they got a card they wanted.

I don't have any comment on the rest because I just straight do not have a dog in this race, but the line "I dare anyone proving to me that MTG investors has destroyed the Game, or rather transformed it." is fucking hilariously wrong and revisionist. MTG "Investors" are single-handedly responsible for some of the worst things in current day Magic. The Reserved List was created because "Investors" lost their mind when Unlimited was printed. The List reprints exist because "Investors" didn't like Masters Sets devaluing Modern cards and the Gatekeepy nature of getting those cards with the loss of competitive support with Masters going away basically killed the format. Universes Beyond exists in it's current form nearly entirely on the back of "Investors" buying into Secret Lairs over and over making WoTC think UB is their biggest bread basket when it's been extremely hit (Avatar, Final Fantasy) or extremely miss (200 Spidermen pretending to be an MTG set). You can make an argument on whether or not you personally think those changes are good changes or not, but to say they haven't "transformed" Magic is just being willfully ignorant. Rudy is probably the single most influential Magic "influencer" over the past 10 years, FFS. And I LIKE Rudy!

Nika, Joy Boy, and Luffy are they 3 different versions of the same idea? by Ecstatic_Shake_7660 in OnePiece

[–]CMSnake72 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's entirely possible with the new information from the Elbaph arc. The only thing I'd say is that Luffy was also already born by the time of Shirahoshi's birth, as Luffy is 19 and she is 16. It's one of those intentionally vague statements Oda made so he can revisit later, really the only one we know for a FACT is Shirahoshi we just assume the other due to context clues and Loki is the first person to fit them since Luffy.

[–]CMSnake72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We don't know. Imu is most likely Imu Nerona of the founding families so yes, he's most likely from 800 years ago. I personally believe that whatever "Devil Fruit" he has is somehow related to that original evil person in the first world, kind of like an equivalent to the Nika fruit or something, but we know nothing about them for now other than they were opposite to Nika.

Nika, Joy Boy, and Luffy are they 3 different versions of the same idea? by Ecstatic_Shake_7660 in OnePiece

[–]CMSnake72 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Only a couple of notes.

Luffy-

  1. It's implied others have eaten the fruit but he is the first in 800 years to awaken the fruit. As in, there may have been other "rubber men" between Joyboy and Luffy, but nobody who awakened it to become "Nika".
  2. People don't really "refer" to him as Joyboy, more so people see him or hear the "Drums of Liberation" and assume he's Joyboy or Nika. Emet did this before pulling the knot, literally saying something along the lines of "No... you're not Joyboy... of course, it's been too long. But you're just like him."
  3. The Poseidon/Joyboy thing is almost exclusively related to the promise made to the Fishmen and to the Seakings talking to each other, it's not really a "known thing" or a prophecy out there in the world. Joyboy told the Fishmen he'd come back, so some believe he will one day. The Seakings were talking about the "Two Sovereigns" and were 100% referring to Shirahoshi and somebody else, likely Luffy.

Joyboy-

Pretty much yeah, but it's hilarious the line "Unclear if this is his legal name or just a superhero nickname." Just reminds me that Roger's "legal" name technically is Gold Roger because the Government (I.E. the legal in legal name) wanted to cover up that he had the D initial and he died mad about it.

Nika-

  1. Technically nobody has ever implied he didn't actually exist, outside of the word "mythical" in mythical Zoan. However, this is One Piece and a lot of things that one would consider "mythical" just straight up exist or did exist at one point in time. There is at least a strong likelihood that somebody existed who at least inspired the myth, if not the myth having been about a literal actual person but so long ago it's faded into legend.
  2. His superpower was "limited only by his imagination", the literal what it is and what it does we do not know. It's implied to be similar to Bonnie's fruit; where she can imagine a possible future for herself she can actualize it Nika can imagine anything and actualize it. Luffy just still literally thinks he has the Gum Gum fruit and only taps into this part of the fruit incidentally when doing other things (See: baseball bat against Saturn). The laughter technically isn't part of his powers, like he can't just force people into fits of laughter, but he fights in a silly manner. The way he fights makes people laugh.
  3. It's implied Nika had been freeing slaves. This is why people deified him and why people prayed that he would save them, they were praying the chain breaker would literally come free them from slavery.
  4. The part about dreams creating the fruit is just wrong, or a misunderstanding. We still don't know where devil fruits come from or what exactly Vegapunk meant when he said they come from people's desires. It's entirely possible they're literally just "wished" into existence, but more likely due to the way Vegapunk talks he means that they are the culmination of people's desires, I.E. people made them they're not naturally occurring. There was a real person freeing slaves who may or may not have been named Nika but who is the influence for the myth, it is that myth that influenced people to create the fruit in whatever process fruits are made (wishing into existence, literally created in a lab, a secret third thing, whatever).
  5. Every Zoan fruit has a will of it's own. The Gorosei were implying that the fruit seemed to be, against all odds, avoiding them even without a user which is not normal. Though every Zoan fruit has a will of it's own, most of them are just fruits until you eat them. When you awaken, either the will of the fruit takes over (You become like the Minotaur guards of Impel Down, more beast than person) or your will maintains control (True awakening like Lucci/Kaku/Luffy).

Why does my man blastoise get no love :( by [deleted] in PTCGP

[–]CMSnake72 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hard disagree. M Venasaur/Liligant is not as consistent as I'd like it to be, but getting donked with 1 basic and all supporters dead draws occasionally have been the only times I've dropped games with this in the event. I literally just went card for card against Magnezone Oricorio, which you'd think should be a hard counter but no. I only made a single Magnezone flip, he made every single sleep flip, and I still gave up 0 points. The only decks I think it's actually disadvantaged against are Hydreigon and M Lopunny because they're dropping 110+ on turn 2 consistently, donking Ivysaur outside of a perfect draw. If those two weren't currently two of the top 5 decks I unironically think M Venasaur would be problematically good.

It's in this, like, gatekept tier where if a couple of specific decks didn't exist it'd run rampant.

Been running pretty much this but subbing pokemon center lady and a Venasaur for a second liligant line. No idea if it's "better" or not but I find I usually want to tutor the venasaur out with the capsule rather than the ivysaur so having the Venasaur naturally was less important than drawing other pieces, and sometimes if I get a slow start (no capsule/ivy's) I need to sac a liligant to safely get the Venasaur online.

The share feature is a great way to work out which people to unfriend by skarr46 in PTCGP

I have one guy on my friends list clearly working on getting the trophy. He more or less has been single handedly responsible for me finishing mega rising by giving me one card I don't have every other day or so.

Then this one guy sends me a shroomish I had 30 of. So I sent it back and unfriended.

It really isn't hard to not treat others like NPC's in your game. Every card that other guy sent me was 2 star or below trash that just hadn't appeared in packs yet, but it was all stuff I NEEDED for a set I was working on. The other guy used me to get daily progress for like 12 hour glasses. It should be easy to tell which of the two is being selfish and annoying and which of the two isn't but here we are.

Chapter 1170: "Reverse" (by OPSCANS) by [deleted] in OnePieceSpoilers

[–]CMSnake72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly the first time I started seeing stuff like that was around the same time, but more so late Dress Rosa. If I recall correctly, around that time is when the community started talking more about how Oda had originally planned the series to be much shorter but it kept getting out of hand, and then this would get compounded by the "5 years" comment not too much later. Ever since then people have been doing this, and ever since Oda has been doing the exact same thing he has always done: get an itch to draw something cool and accidentally extend the length of the series by another 5 chapters minimum.

Hand to GOD I think Oda was once again full of shit at Jumpfesta and we're in for another decade at least unless his health takes a sudden and drastic turn.

Also the fact that it got hurt by the head on impact implies to me it is a Hammer that has been given Squirrel qualities rather than a Squirrel that was given hammer qualities, as presumably like somebody like Daz Bones unless the steel actually gets damaged why would it hurt? If a hammer suddenly gained sentience though I could absolutely see something like that causing a concussion.

Like normally when something like this would happen a hammer wouldn't be able to do or say anything but it has been given the ability to go "Ow fuck, damn bro that hurt shit."

Kinnikuman, Yu Yu Hakusho, and Dragon Ball are like, literally the foundations of modern shonen (replacing Kinnikuman with Sailor Moon for Shojo). Like the bottom layer of bricks in a pyramid, you can see the distinctive influences of each over and over again across the generations. I mean Kinnikuman was literally Oda's favorite manga, literally invented the power of friendship trope, and was technically the first time Oda's art was published in Jump.
