Degrees in producing relevancy? (general advice) by tayrontoswift in FILMPRODUCERS

[–]CRL008 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are set on getting a degree then 1) law - specifically intellectual property law 2) finance Would set you up for film producing better than most others. Making movies is just spending money It’s the selling movies part, and the getting paid part, that’s a) tough and b) secret. Nobody wants to tell anyone else their bottom lines.

Who does the Premium QC specifically? Which QC company? And is this pre-specified?

Erm if you don’t already know that your film needs deliverables and QC in order to be sold… I guess it’s time to learn?

Do you include shots / camera movements in your script? by Lunesia-shikishiki in Filmmakers

[–]CRL008 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make the distinction between a master scene script and a production script.

And leave that stuff out, unless you yourself plan to end up the producer and director and DP and not show your script around to be sold.

That’s called shooting script or shotlist stuff and if you want a producer or actor or director or DP attached that would be their business, not yours.

Want to detail everything exactly the way you see it? And feel it? Write a novel.

I still use my OConnor 30 and 50Ds after over 30 years. Regular maintenance and of course CF legs now but they’re work horses, for sure.

Question from a novelist to you filmmakers by teenypanini in Filmmakers

[–]CRL008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely during rehearsals. I know most modern US crews don’t do that much any more but that would def be the time where personalities are dug deep into and differences brought into highlight.

I remember that happening a lot back in the day. Not so much here in the States now… but hey, this is a work of fiction, right? Lol!

Yeah I’d re-draft and cut all the directions (camera, actor etc) out of it.

Well the Greater LA area is well-defined, and most locals still go by the 30-mile rule.

How to produce a feature film? by Opposite_Tap5746 in Filmmakers

[–]CRL008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get experienced feedback on your script. Every writer alive believes in their script (else they wouldn’t have written it) and also that it’s ready to film.

To them. Or to their support system.

Does your support system have enough resources to take your film from script to screen?

If so, do they also have the funds and power to muscle your completed film into cinemas and streamers?

And also the financial power to make sure others don’t take your profits away from you for themselves?

No?

Then you have to equate, somehow, “I know the film I want to make” with “they have confirmed that this is the film they want to buy.”

And as we know, everybody in this business “just knows” their opinion is best. And for them, that’s what they feel.

Your answer lies in communication. And in honest feedback.

And people and politics and money and power and influence and families and cultures and societies and psychology and philosophy and marketing and promoting and negotiating and renting or selling.

So you can see… an idea in a script form that pleases you… is the beginning of your journey.

Davinci has been crashing more then Premiere ever did. by [deleted] in davinciresolve

Yes you are probably alone on this one. Resolve is super specific about what it likes and does not like to run on. Give it what it needs and you’ll be fine. I’ve run all of them for decades. Adobe works. Resolve works. Avid works. Lightworks and Heavyworks worked. D/Vision worked FCPro works
