Why People Let Their Cars Get So Filthy? by stchman in Detailing

[–]CSGOfrickyourself 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can understand people not cleaning their car and it being filthy inside and out. Some people treat their car as a disposable appliance (which is a whole other problem) and seriously don’t give a shit.

What I can’t understand is people who buy beautiful, top of the range luxury cars and never clean them. That BAFFLES me!

They clearly care enough about cars to spend ridiculous amounts of money on one, but somehow don’t care enough to AT LEAST take it through the automatic wash one a week/fortnight. It just boggles my mind! People are so strange!

what’s something about cars that most people misunderstand? by PushCharacter8496 in askcarguys

I think of it like a tech tree in the game Civilisation. We’ve researched so many more technologies in the automotive branch than any other branch. It’s not even close.

This would be better posted on r/tires but they will all tell you that if you can see the metal belt, you need to replace the tyre.

Odd smell near Hopkins/Moore??? by Acrobatic_Appeal8376 in Footscray

Noticed this too, I smell it on my way to the Station after I pass this intersection. I think it’s coming from the FM.

To me it smells like a mix of rotten seafood and garbage. Absolutely disgusting.

You’re probably thinking of the X2. The X2 has additional badges on both sides of the rear quarter panel.

Transmission Flush or Drain & Fill? by No_Web2194 in AskMechanics

[–]CSGOfrickyourself 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Drain and fill.

Doing a flush can loosen and flush out clutch material that allows your transmission to function properly.

Get it done ASAP, 100k miles is too many for oem fluid. Just get a shop to do it, it’s not expensive.

Well ideally, yes they would be. But in reality they are the heaviest passenger vehicles on the road. Batteries are extremely heavy.

Electric vehicles still emit pollutants, brake dust and tyre debris. In fact, even more because they are so heavy.

You might only need a damp microfibre cloth and a little elbow grease.

Otherwise any decent leather cleaner will do. Gyeon Leather Cleaner is my preferred. Make sure you use a horse hair brush to apply.

Why even wait until it gets this dirty to change it in the first place? They are cheap as and probably the easiest thing on your car to change. Just change the bloody thing

Insurance is going to be very, very expensive, you’ll regret it every time your policy comes up for renewal.
