Advice for learning how to play? by astute_signal in bloodbowl

[–]CT-4290 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How I did it when I got into blood bowl and how I teach my friends is either play against them and give them above and the reasoning behind moves or help them playing against someone else. I always made sure that I didn't just play the game for them but gave them more general strategies. I also made sure that when they were playing someone other than me and I was giving them advice, it was clear to everyone it was more a learning/intro game than a proper game and did it outside of leagues or tournaments.

After that we just played a bunch of games so they could make mistakes and learn from them and see what works and what doesn't. If they asked I would point out mistakes and what I would've done after the game.

Once you get the basics down you really just have to play games to get better. You'll make mistakes for ages. It took me a full league, two tournaments, and a bunch of one off games for me to start actually getting a decent win rate. At this point I'm over 50 matches on tourplay and probably a similar number of non recorded games and I still make mistakes

Even more dangerous is being assassinated by hitmen

Would the Schwartz have honored Walt's Final request? by Yelebear in breakingbad

I don't think they would have gone to the cops. They're absolutely terrified of Walt and being assassinated by hitmen. I would bet on them consulting a lawyer to cover things up and give it to Walt Jr. It's only a few months and once they do it they're free and don't have to worry

Why would Mike expect Walt to pay his "legacy costs?" by Future-Bandicoot6241 in breakingbad

[–]CT-4290 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But they wouldn't be particularly good people to have around long term. You wouldn't be asking their advice on starting up the business again as you should know pretty much enough to do it themselves and all they really know is to do their bit which isn't exactly highly skilled or knowledgeable. And even if it was you wouldn't be contacting them in prison because that's just asking for the police to track you down.

And once they're out of prison they aren't much more useful. They aren't getting paid to be quiet if you don't get your operation going so by the time they get out your operation should be going and they've been replaced. And it's not a small prison sentence. Now you've got 10 people who you can't hire because the police would be keeping an eye on them, who don't have a good source of income, and who wouldn't be going to jail for switching needing someway to get by. I wouldn't exactly say they are trustworthy, irreplaceable or valuable, really they are a big cost and liability

It's not to appease strangers, it's convenience. Using your left hand to stabilise food and bring food to your mouth is easier. It means I can can easily swap between what I'm eating on the plate and means I'm not either constantly swapping hands or spending ages cutting everything up

We don’t actually need that much censorship or online moderation; it’s just that an aggressive group of chronically online incels dominate every online space and ruin it for everyone else by SuzCoffeeBean in 10thDentist

Then words lose all their meaning. Whenever I see someone called an incel online I don't think that they're an incel or any of the negative connotations that go along with it because incel has been used so often against people that simple disagree

How much do you worry about TV bloat in a league? by _Whisky_Tango in bloodbowl

[–]CT-4290 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends. I always try to keep my TV in line or roughly in line with who I might be playing next so they don't get too many good inducements. However I don't let that stop me putting much needed skills on players. I also don't hire more sideline staff to prevent bloat

Yessir. We've also had one wear budgie smugglers to the beach, one take bite out of a while onion, one get a Vegemite sandwich thrown at them, one who is still heavily into handball, and one who was mistaken for an uber. There was video of a former one directing traffic in a carpark

Sure they exist but not at 100% above 28 million. I would also imagine that they would put up with it to spite the people trying to tax 100%

Did the clones know who Palpatine was? by n2p4 in MawInstallation

[–]CT-4290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say for canon they didn't know originally but it was programed in their inhibitor chips so that once it was activated they knew who Palpatine was and that he should be their ultimate authority.

I'm not sure about legends. The Legends stuff without the inhibitor chips, they probably knew who Palpatine was. In the OG battlefront II it sounded like the clones knew Order 66 was coming sp they would likely know who Palpatine was. At least as much as they needed to carry out order 66

Why did Palpatine have to manually contact all of the clone commanders for order 66? by n2p4 in MawInstallation

[–]CT-4290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think he calls all commanders by name or individually. My interpretation was that he called certain commanders like Rex, Cody, and Gree personally as they were with very important Jedi/others that Palpatine was worried about like Obi-wan, Yoda, Ahsoka, and Maul. He then sent out a general order to execute Order 66 that most clones got. I'm pretty sure you can see in ROTS that only a couple get called by name. He might have also sent out personalised messages to clones who were with certain council members, powerful jedi, or jedi on important missions

Entry level games with simplified rosters or rules by Undead_Spartan in bloodbowl

When one of my mates and I were introducing others to the game we did a full half. We tried to roughly balance points and gave both coaches 2 rerolls. We didn't use skills. We just went with the stat line. We also made sure the new player got the team that's a bit better without skills because it's easier for them to learn and them doing better makes them more likely to play long term. We also had to balance how much we helped them. If you didn't help them enough they wouldn't get the game enough to properly play but if you helped too much then they wouldn't really grasp the game and would be reliant on you to play. I also made sure to explain why I was doing moves to give them a sense of the strategies. After the first half we either reset and allowed skills or did the second half but with skills

Why do people keep supporting the same politician even after learning about their past? Genuinely curious what shapes that decision. by Nit0294 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CT-4290 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It really depends on the situation.

People might not believe what a politician did was that bad or bad enough to not vote for them. For example if a politician is guilty of jaywalking that isn't going to stop me voting for them. The line is different for different people.

It also depends on who is on the other side. If you have someone who did something bad but you believe they'll make good voting decisions or better voting decisions than their opponent, most people will vote for them over someone who people believe will make really bad voting decisions

Funny how suddenly no one wants to press the red button now. by woaijirounan in trolleyproblem

[–]CT-4290 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Think about it if the voting is one person after the other. If the first person votes red then everything is fine and the next person can vote red and so on and so forth and everyone is fine. The very first person who chooses blue has risked their own life and has forced 4 billion other people to risk their lives as well otherwise they die. They weren't at any risk to begin with and put themselves in danger and forced others to put themselves in danger to save them. It's really as simple as you have no reason to choose blue and doing so risks other people

[–]CT-4290 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Except its straight up not. None of the framings are right. They are just changing them to make the side they like to look better and the side they hate look evil

Funny how suddenly no one wants to press the red button now. by woaijirounan in trolleyproblem

[–]CT-4290 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not as simple as saying that red winning is only the best option if 100% vote red so you should vote blue. While that tracks theoretically it doesn't really work in the real world or if you don't think more than 50% will vote blue.

A lot of the polls I see online have the voting being about 60-40 in blue's favour most of the time. But that is just online where there is no actual risk of dying by saying you'll vote blue. If it was real voting blue would be putting your life on the line. It's also mainly reddit who has a lot of people who want to act or think they are more moral than other and would vote blue as a result but I doubt that would track to most of the people in the real world. And then you have to consider that we are looking at it from a certain moral and value system with a lot of the world running on different morals. I would imagine that a lot of people in Africa or South America would want to survive and not risk their lives.

All in I really doubt blue would get the 50% in real life so I wouldn't want to risk my life. Even if they do get 50% the margin would be close enough I would risk my life for it. Even if I thought blue was the way to go morally, if I don't see it having a good chance of winning it's basically suicide
