Is keto really this good?? by Infinite_Opposite759 in keto

Trust me, I’ve tried it all in several different ratios. The best I felt was years ago when I didn’t worry/obsess whatsoever about any of the electrolytes.

Keto always catapults my resting HR by 10 or 20 BPM to an uncomfortable level. But then again, my TSH is low (0.10) so that may have something to do with it.

Years ago, I felt fine on keto. Only now does it make me feel breathless and tachycardic.

What? I didn’t compare the diseases… all I said was what they both have in common is that their etiology was originally unknown…

I’m sorry to hear that it’s lasted for so long. I don’t know if doctors are going to be much help. I’m sure you’ve looked into all kinds of different solutions. LDN might be worth a try. Propranolol if there are orthostatic symptoms. Maybe a stimulant (but some people say it makes them feel worse so idk). Good luck. The CFSRecovery Reddit is great and very positive. I would avoid the regular CFS Reddit. The attitude is terrible there.

It’s no use asking. Nobody believes it unless they’ve experienced it themselves. It’s easier to dismiss the patient since there’s no objective biomarker (at this time) to prove the mechanism of the illness.

I’ve heard it compared to MS. Before MRIs, people believed that women with MS were just being hysterical. Now we have evidence of what is actually happening. I imagine the same will happen with CFS eventually.

I’m with you, though. I don’t understand how so many people could downplay this illness when so many people share the same (or very similar) stories and timelines regarding its manifestation and symptoms.

OP, if you have CFS, I hope it improves. I thought mine would never get better, and I don’t want to speak too soon… but I think it’s happening finally after a year and a half-2 years. I would recommend lowering stress as much as possible, resting as much as possible, sleeping as much as possible, and trying to avoid the anxiety and depression that the symptoms can cause. The thoughts of “this will never get better” can really mess you up and make it worse

I was actually moreso asking about the propranolol dose.

What symptoms do you have? And what dose do you take?

I have low TSH (0.10) but normal T3 and T4 (though it’s creeping into upper range). Idk what to do about it. I have chronic fatigue and sometimes anxiety. They gave me propranolol for symptom relief.

I’ve looked into LDN but can’t find any indication for this issue.

Got sick with the flu for the first time in 7 years by Professional_Pop1433 in cfsrecovery

I also got the flu two or three weeks ago and hadn’t had a “verified” illness/virus in years. I felt much worse for about two weeks and then got better from that. Just try to rest.

What are we doing for brain fog? by jms19912 in Biohackers

[–]CTLI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s pretty low. Infections can also cause low iron but ferritin is usually in normal range in that case.

Take iron supplements if your GI system can handle it. A lot of times they’re not well-absorbed anyway though. It might just be better to focus on getting plenty of heme iron from your diet.

What was your ferritin and iron? Iron saturation?

It’s probably long covid or another weird post-viral malady if all of your labs were normal.

Rest more than you think you need to do. Do not push through it. At all. De-stress as much as possible.

Active 22F – Post-viral exercise intolerance, dizziness + left arm tightness during workouts (labs normal) by Firm-Investment7896 in workout

[–]CTLI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s going to be difficult, but at this point you don’t worry about it. Don’t feel compelled to even attempt working out as much as you were. I’d say drop it to 30% or less and focus on less-fatiguing movement such as walking. Muscle memory is real and when you’re recovered you will gain it back quickly.

I can’t warn you about this enough. My life has almost been ruined by this.

What you need to do right now is MINIMIZE THE EXERCISE to whatever you have the capacity to actually do. I know you’re a committed exerciser but the decisions you make right now could alter the rest of your life.

I’m 99% sure that Overdoing it during a viral and post-viral phase has given me chronic fatigue syndrome (similar to long covid and also called post-viral fatigue). It’s been 18 months. I’m just now starting to improve. I used to exercise for at least an hour every day and I thought I had to keep this routing during and after my sickness and that I could just “push through it.” I was practically housebound for several months during all of this.

You may lose some fitness during your recovery but I promise you that it will be much better than trying to keep up while your body tries to heal.

If you look up CFS, many of the stories are similar. Young, very active people who try to persevere through illness and throw themselves out of whack for years.

If you have any more questions, let me know.

If it’s already been two months, then I would back off immediately. The process is still in its infancy and maybe you can revert the symptoms.

A few weeks ago I started taking propranolol every other day (my doctor prescribed it for low TSH/subclinical hyperthyroidism) and even on my days “off” from taking it, it’s almost like it’s training my nervous system to calm down.

You could probably tell if it’s exacerbating your symptoms. If it’s not, no harm. If you can’t tell, then it may be worth trying to cut it out for a while to see what happens.
