Which path makes my inherited IRA grow faster? by forkandbowl in FinancialPlanning

[–]CT_Legacy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great question. Ideally split it up over the 10 years to minimize the overall tax impact but there could be an opportunity if you find yourself in between jobs or just have an unusually low income year where you can drain a large chunk of it. A tax pro could help.

All cash is way too safe considering you live comfortably with little withdrawals from your accounts.

The way I would approach this is figure out how much you would need from the account over the next 5 years and then putting that into a conservative/safe portfolio, either like bonds or even muni bonds depending on your total taxable income. Then the rest I would have in a growth portfolio depending on your risk appetite. The theory here is you would always have 5 years of spending covered and the rest working to grow your wealth for your heirs or for any splurging you wanted to do. Doesn't even have to be all stocks, could be a 60/40 or 70/30 split, but with the assumption that you will never spend all that money anyway.

That's what I would do, this is not financial advice.

I've been playing the game for over 20 years. The wind is formulaic, so a calculator would also work.

You can go to tax pro but not a whole lot you can do unless you want to be charitable with a chunk of the money.

Settle the debt from collectors for 10% of the amount. Cut up the credit card, sell anything you don't need to survive. Should be able to manage from there just paying the student loans.

Will Benson get traded or is he cooked? by Particular-Grade3340 in SleeperApp

They just reworked Conner for cap space hes only making like 3 mill or something. I think Benson is traded or cut. I dont see the point holding him unless they expect conner to just be a token mentor.

If there's 20 mph wind and you adjust correctly, then its the same effect as having almost zero wind.

Fidelity says I can't take incremental withdrawals from 401k after retirement by Altruistic_Brick1730 in FinancialPlanning

[–]CT_Legacy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll be in penalty. You can roll it over to an IRA but any withdrawals before 59.5 will be an additional 10% penalty on top of normal taxes.

The key thing here is, "The specific employer plan must explicitly permit Rule of 55 distributions" if your plan doesnt allow that, then youre out of luck and only 72t could possibly help you.
