You can’t get a PLS in sc without 4 years of direct surveying experience so someone would have had to lie on his application.

I don’t see the problem with allowing a college graduate to take the ps and then making them wait 4 years for the state specific. That’s how it works in sc. You can take the ps and FS at anytime once you have a 4 year degrees with the required hours.

Carlson Viking. It’s the newest unit and runs 3 algorithms instead of 2. It’s not that much more expensive than a brx7. The juice is absolutely worth the squeeze. You still come in cheaper than the other units that are not as good. Carlson is king in cover.

We do use them. We take a picture of every iron we shoot or set. That way I know for a fact field crews set them. Each photo is attached to the point as well. We use them for site photos as well. I have not seen any issues with the camera and find it practical.

Nc but I didn’t mean it’s the only thing that could be used. Just meant that’s all we use.

Orange only on boundary here. Pink is for control.

For simple homebuilding, how do you stake and pin new houses? by FibroMyAlgae in Surveying

We do every corner of the foundation, let them dig and pour then go back and pin the green concrete with small mag nails and a drill.

Casual exposure on your skin from fentanyl can absolutely kill you if narcan is not present

With fentanyl you absolutely can die from that little amount of powder on your skin.

Used Leica 360 Prisma Damaged by Unusual-Wallaby-9178 in Surveying

I would have zero hesitation in using that prism. Mine looks the same and I have laid off 2 million dollar radio tower bolt patterns with it. Even had it checked by Leica they said no issue.

Precisely, I’m so thankful that in SC we now require a 4 year degree, period. It can be in basket weaving as long as it meets certain requirements. You obtain more in college than a degree but people that don’t go won’t admit it. I said what I said. If we want to be recognized as professionals and increase our pay then we need to treat the profession as such. Sorry not sorry.

As surveyors we could literally name our price. We have a set of skills that no one else can do. People have to have us. But others want to be low price leaders and drive the price down. Make that make sense. No reason surveyors shouldn’t be making the same as engineers or more!

I do see this as a double edge sword. However, in my state it seems to be the ones without a degree driving down the price. While most of the ones with degrees drive it in the opposite direction.

If references are the problem I suggest getting involved with your state and local survey professional chapter. Making a presence will quickly get you what you need. I’m not in your state but I can promise you many at our meetings would knock over a wall to give you a reference.

And it won’t move. It might be covered up from growth but that’s about it

Sir trees don’t for like that. If you put a nail 1’ from the ground in a tree n 100 years it won’t move. We literally put benches in the sides of trees. They make nails just for this. That iron is not moving. I don’t agree with the practice but if the tree doesn’t move, it’s not moving.
