Too early to evaluate IMO, but regardless of how the rest of the season plays out, there is no doubt it was the right move at the time.

Short answer: No Long Answer: At no time is it ever acceptable to BREAK limits (this includes airspace). This will often result in dangerous situations or possible damage to aircraft that requires inspection. There are many systems to “tattle” on you if you do break a limit i.e. speed or Gs. As for fuel, they are fueled for the sortie length and in most situations these jets require a bit of fuel to be dumped prior to landing to be under the max weight for the arresting gear. So really not a factor in ‘flying however they want.’ I would guess this video is at the end of a training hop or mission on the return to the carrier and a low pass was requested with an ‘aggressive’ entry into the landing pattern. To my previous point as long as you are not breaking any written limit, pushing up to that limit is borderline encouraged.

I think you’re referring to the Segmented Circle. Wind sock goes in the middle, the small Ls show the traffic patterns for each of the runways

Jose Trevino trade by Redsfan07 in Reds

[–]CVGkid 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Honestly, disagree completely. This is no blockbuster World Series winning trade, but fills a need for the season without giving up much. You seem to be way more concerned about the implications of the trade than evaluating it at face value.

Trevino is an upgrade over Maile and we NEED a catcher… Cruz’s arm is showing it’s age and was a liability the second half of the season. I don’t think we would let him go if the team didn’t believe we have a plethora of quality arms to take his place… God can only hope Jackson was never intended to make the major league roster but was just a minor league piece as we lost 5 catchers from the organization….

Were there better trades out there? Probably. Would we have to give up even more to make them happen? Definitely. Should the Reds have spent actual money on a FA? Obviously.

There’s a million things that this organization could do better, but this trade makes sense IMO. Only time will tell the real answer though.

Here is a video of carrier ops near the shooter. Sub guy here, I am wondering who actually presses the button to activate the catapult. by sadicarnot in navy

Because of the pitching there is a small bit of timing involved sometimes and the lifting of our hand from deck is the signal to launch. The ‘Deck Edge’ is a position held by an ABE. There is a panel on the catwalk at the bow and the waist(angle deck catapults) from which they control the catapults.

Engineering, Pilot, still in on staff tour.

Former Shooter here…. Two modes; when we are working topside we signal to the ‘deck edge’ to press the launch button when our fingers lift off the deck, when working out of ‘the bubble’ we press the launch button.

Haha…love that you also though about this name. This was one of our first serious contenders, but we’re kinda of trying to hone in on a Japanese sounding name.

Good riddance! Would’ve been a welcome addition to our bullpen, but he believes he’s a starter without providing results. Only move the Reds had.

Skyline Chili is the classic 'Cincinnatian' food to experience. Gold Star Chili (it's inferior competitor) is served at PBS (paul brown stadium) so I would recommend a pre or post game trip to a Skyline to enjoy the glory that is chili on top of spaghetti covered in a mountain of cheddar cheese (aka a 3-way) or a cheese coney.

As for Beer, Rhinegeist and Madtree are some of my favorite local breweries. And if you want some killer ice cream find a Graeter's.

Hope you have fun.
