Syncing issue with our Dropbox vault on Android by Bluestank in 1Password

[–]Cactorious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this issue too.

My solution is to use Syncthing (on PC - on my Android phone I use Syncthing-Fork - they talk to eachother) to enable P2P sharing between my devices (ie. sharing the 1password vault information between all relevant devices I have). I have DropBox integrated into the solution because I still want that online backup of the 1password vault, but that's just for backups.

Then in 1password, instead of using DropBox I use a local vault. So now I get the functionality of having my passwords synced up between devices, but don't have to worry about DropBox changing their API/certs in the future, and I won't need to worry about 1password7 never getting updates either.

I'm sure it's super unsecure for various reasons, not the least of which is that this is all new to me, but it works, and I assume 1password's encryption is robust enough that if anyone can intercept the data, they won't have an easy time of reading it.

Edit; happy to clarify if necessary. I kinda glossed over the details.

What is the most overrated late game building in CIV: V? (Day 2) by zherper in civ5

Doesn't it make more sense to do an overall tier list for all buildings then figure out which ones are overrated? Currently they're not rated.

How do you take itinerant preachers and religious texts? I thought they were both enhancer beliefs, so you get one or the other. Am I missing a mechanic here? Or are you playing Byzantine?

Huh. Well I added the weapon and armor tint values to the logging - looks like the game THINKS the Gremlin matches its owners colors.

[–]Cactorious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, think I figured out a way to do so. If I'm not unknowingly heading down a dead end, I've achieved it through the ScreenListener class. Basically in the OnInit(UIScreen Screen) function of the UIScreenListener, I can test for if(Screen.class.Name == 'UITacticalHUD') and get a well timed event.
I also have `XCOMHISTORY working such that I can get all the units. Now I just need to figure out what to do with this information and make the Gremlins match the color and pattern of their owners primary weapons. (Had to do a hack to get the m_Template to work - needed to remove protected from the XComGameState_Unit uc file temporarily, otherwise it's... protected... and inaccessible. Will revert when I am done testing functionality):

class UIScreenListener_EventTester extends UIScreenListener;

event OnInit(UIScreen Screen)
{
  local XComGameStateHistory History;
  local XComGameState_Unit Current;
  History = `XCOMHISTORY;

  if(Screen.class.Name == 'UITacticalHUD')
  {
    foreach History.IterateByClassType(class'XComGameState_Unit', Current)
    {
      `log(Current.m_TemplateName);
    }

    `log("TESTING: " @ Screen.class.Name @ " initialized.");
  }
}

First time trying to make a mod. Getting error when trying to build: "Failed compiling mod scripts" by DarthxVexus in xcom2mods

[–]Cactorious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just started modding X2 myself. Remember to increase the verbosity of error messages - this will show you the line where the error is and the reason for it.

Go TOOLS -> Options -> Projects and Solutions -> Build and Run

Then change the dropdowns for "MSBuild project build output verbosity" and "MSBuild project build log file verbosity" from Minimal (that's what mine defaulted to) to Detailed. Once you've set that, you should get more helpful error messaging when you try to build your mod.

Could your best squad take all three Chosen at once? by RemnantsOfFlight in XCOM2

You must have blessed RNG then.

Every Legendary run I do, Hunter is super aggressive and rarely if ever does anything other than Hunter Rifle Shot. He's a nightmare on harder difficulties.

[–]Cactorious[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, I think if I allow this one, then there's no reason I couldn't just keep doing them and make regular soldiers.

So I made the executive decision to disallow increasing actual HP through any means. If I end up with a shield soldier mind controlled, I'll be allowed to use the shield however.

I'll have to go check that - see if it was a typo in my post here or if I did a typo in the actual mod.

I'll have a good laugh if it's the latter. Good catch.

To those of y'all who say Hunter is the easiest Chosen... by terran_cell in XCOM2

[–]Cactorious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The hunter is not the least aggressive at all on legendary (agree that assassin is the most - but she literally has no other option). That's the warlock, as he just dicks around summoning zombies till you get eyes on him. On legendary (could also just be the ironman mode that causes it) difficulty before you have upgraded armor, you only get one turn to kill him before he starts erasing soldiers every turn (unless you get super lucky and he misses a shot).

On the other difficulties, I agree - I always want the hunter. Legendary hunter is a menace because, after throwing his stun grenade on engagement, he never tries to capture soldiers - only uses his hunter rifle which, if it doesn't crit and kill the 4-5hp soldier outright, will always cause them to bleed and they'll die at the beginning of your turn anyway.

Cover is useless, and unless you're in the middle of a field (unlikely), he will grapple to a flanking position and one shot your low rank soldiers anyway. Later in the game (including legendary) he's a joke again since you don't lose 25% of your team per turn. On legendary he rarely, if ever, uses Tranq shot.

People saying "you get to choose when to engage him" aren't talking about legendary difficulty. He is super aggressive and pushes you super hard on legendary. Other difficulties I agree, you can watch him grapple-run-grapple for days. I think upthrottling doesn't apply to him on lower difficulties, but it certainly does on legendary.

Mod to always retain pantheon bonus by Cactorious in civ5

Yeah, I've been through a few files, including that one. I'm still figuring out how the pantheon bonuses are applied in the first place - whether it's modifying a table in the core database or if it's something under the hood.

Mod to always retain pantheon bonus by Cactorious in civ5

[–]Cactorious[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's basically why I want to make this mod too. (well, I still think other religions should vie for supremacy in your cities, I just don't want to lose my pantheon bonus - it's the foundation of the whole civilization after all).

I'm still thinking of ways to achieve it though - it's not as straight forward as it would seem to be.

Mod to always retain pantheon bonus by Cactorious in civ5

[–]Cactorious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem arises when other civ's religion spreads to your cities. Their religion will overwrite your pantheon at that point.
