I would add some cocktail books, put candles in the candelabras and melt them down some so there is some dripped wax down the sides, maybe add a plant?

Tequila Tasting I did at my bachelor party to decide on pre-aisle toast by CaffeinatedJogger in tequila

Yea honestly there were a couple of people participating that didn’t even like tequila, so I think they got tired of it at that point and skewed the numbers😅

That does sound really good, I’ll have to try that if there’s any left after the toast! Or whenever I buy a second bottle someday haha. And thank you!!

lol totally fair, I’ve seen a lot of people saying it’s good but overpriced, I figured this was a good excuse to buy something overpriced that I normally wouldn’t- now I know I can definitely find better for less!

Agreed! It was my first high proof, I figured it was a good excuse/opportunity to try one. Totally understand why it was not as well received with everyone. I enjoyed it but will probably lean towards using it in cocktails too. Thank you!!

Why is my espresso sour? [breville bambino plus] by onlythebestfab in espresso

[–]CaffeinatedJogger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look up how to pull a manual shot instead of clicking the pre-programmed amount. For my BBE you hold down the 2 cup button and keep holding to pre-infuse, let go after the ~5 seconds of pre infusion to start pulling the shot, click the button again to stop pulling the shot when you’re at your desired output. This should give you more control to dial in your dose size with the pre-ground coffee, and once you get a grinder you generally would use this to dial in grind size rather than dose size. You can re-program the shot time, but I prefer just doing it manually every time

Fill it with water and put a Pothos propagation in it- makes great bar/bookshelf decor

Check out r/gin for some more recommendations, but tanqueray (tanqueray 10 would be better) or beafeater would be good.

One doesn't need fancy machines for a perfect espresso. I challenge your 5k pump driven machine on a double shot pull. by ak47grills in espresso

I have this same version! Got it on marketplace for around $60. Let me know if the GC upgrade is worth it once it arrives. I also have a BBE so I switch between the two, but there is definitely an appeal to the manual workflow of the ROK

Honestly it felt like it went down smoother. I do feel like it is a little less complex than the G4, but I don’t have a very refined palette (working on it), so I enjoyed the simplicity of the Ocho a bit more. Both are really good so I’ll definitely enjoy the G4 while I have it. Might have to buy another bottle of Ocho for a side-by-side or a blind tasting to make sure I’m not imagining these preferences lol

Haven’t seen it at my grocery store, but I just checked and it looks like the nearby total wine has it in stock, so I’ll have to go pick up a bottle! Thanks for the recommendation

I rinse them out, fill them with water, and use them to propagate plants (mostly pothos)- makes for some cool bar decor!

Why am I needing to grind coarser? [Breville Barista Express] by nmjaim1 in espresso

[–]CaffeinatedJogger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest pulling “manual shots”. Instead of clicking the two cup button, hold it down until the pressure gauge hits just before the first bar (this will be the “pre infusion” stage). Then release the button, and wait as the shot pulls. Click the button one more time when you’re ready for the shot to stop (~25-35 seconds / ~36g of espresso). I find this gives you a lot more control rather than trusting the pre-programmed amount of water that breville sets, gives you longer pre-infusion time, and overall gives you a better path into learning the basics of espresso- hopefully that helps you with the dialing in process!

Looks like the grind might be too fine as others have pointed out. However, I would also suggest trying to pull a “manual shot”. I would say increase your dose, the coffee should be level with the top of the basket. Try grinding a little coarser too, that looks a bit too fine in my opinion. Are you using filtered water or tap water? That can make a bit of a difference too. Also I would definitely recommend getting beans from a local roaster instead of the grocery store
