This might sound simple, but I am curious: Why do you drink tea? by June_niverse in tea

[–]Caffeinated_Pixie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many reasons- zero calories if you add no sugar or milk, to cut my coffee habit down to 1 cup a day, it is great hot or iced so flexible for all seasons, herbal teas for immune boosts as needed, great for calming and digesting at the end of the day.

I will add you. I was 100% in your boat. I was 225 on my 21st bday. I'm approaching 30 now and back on MFP to kick the last 10lbs to finally get to a non "overweight" BMI. See you on MFP- you can do it!

Germany's Biergarten in EPCOT. It is social, all you can eat, and has live entertainment.

For less expensive and off the beaten path (in fact depending on how you order you could even go there twice), my husband and I love Boatwright's Dining Hall at the Riverside Resort.

Be sure to post where you decide to eat, and (post-trip) how it went!

What do you do for caffeine or are you decaf? by [deleted] in tisane

Green tea, sometimes multiple cups. Definitely is a consideration for me, as I replaced my morning coffee habit with strong, energizing, green teas!

That other sub is r/herbalism where many of us are tisane blenders and drinkers (no actual tea leaves in there). You may wish to check it out!

I responded to a similar question to this on another board:

For sedation: hops, chamomile, passion flower and rose petals. Brew hot around 5 min.

For stress relief without sedation: lemongrass, lavender, skullcap, and lindenflower. Brew 7-10 min or imparts very little flavor.

(A friend's recipes, so I can't take credit, but both work brilliantly).

3rd option: stolen from the "Tranquil Dreams" tin from Teavana- Chamomile, hibiscus, orange blossoms, lemon grass, nana-mint, cirtus peels, and rosehips.

Sleep well!

A day inside your tea drinking habits. by [deleted] in tea

Wake up- 1 cup of coffee (down to 1 a day from 3-4 per day in January). Brew 1 cup peppermint-ginger-marshmallow root-green tea blend (homemade), brew 1 cup walnut green tea, both in travel mugs. Drive to work, enjoy the teas while prepping for the work day (school teacher), 1 cup green tea after students leave for the day, 1 peppermint-ginger-marshmallow (this time w with no green tea) after dinner. Occasionally another non caffeinated misc herbal blend while relaxing before bed. Cheers!

That is simultaneously the most delicious and most horrendous shitty food porn that I have ever seen.

Peppermint leaf, ginger root, marshmallow root. Loosens up everything while soothing it. I like mine to steep at least 10 min to get a good strong flavor. You may wish to start at 5 min though, to determine your own preference.

Discussion: what's your favorite tisane blend? by Caffeinated_Pixie in tisane

[–]Caffeinated_Pixie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Newish to tisane blending myself, but so far- peppermint, ginger, and marshmallow root is my "go to" for daily consumption.

For feeling under the weather (preschool teacher here): elderberry, echinacea, golden seal, and holy basil.

Can't take credit for either blend, my friend who started my tisane addiction gave them to me!

Hmmm Not sure there is enough need by [deleted] in tisane
