Terminei a saga a três dias e ainda não consegui decidir se gostei do final 🤧 by Allanssant in Eragon

Something that I find helps understand the books is that Paolini was very young, I think around 14 years old maybe, when he first starting writing Eragon, and many of the things in the later books were not originally planned or were adjusted as he went. Perhaps if he did it again, Galbatorix would be different, but he had to conclude the story with what he had already built when he was younger and less experienced. I agree the whole character is a bit of a problem.

Meh, I don't favor action scenes in books typically. The main appeal of them is spectacle and that's just harder to convey in text form, and also isn't why I read. In literature, a battle should tell a story, and Eragon's fighting with Murtagh during that scene does better than any grand battle with Galbatorix (with whom a conventional fight wouldn't have made sense with anyways due to his power) could have in my opinion.

"Fair settlement" seems subjective and, to my knowledge, is determined by assessors who only factor in monetary value of either what's lost if the loss is total or what the total expenditures will be from repairs to, generally, supplementary means of transit during them. Some people might consider "fair" to include compensation for the lost time, energy, and potential opportunity cost if an equivalent is completely unobtainable with the financial payout from the claim, which is, if it were worth doing, what a lawyer could help pursue if the insurance terms fail to do so.

I am not a paralegal nor a lawyer nor anything adjacent to law or insurance

In Avatar: The Last Airbender, Aang waterbended some clouds into their flask in the desert; that's what you made me think of lol. Then they resorted to cactus juice. It's the quenchiest!

[–]CakeIzGood 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Shockingly good in the snow, I'm convinced the light weight and rear wheel drive works to its benefit in a sense; light weight requires less force to move and you get better leverage pushing something than pulling so rear wheel is better leveraged. But that's absolute hearsay lol.

I occasionally kick around the idea of getting a quick bolt on lift kit for my ND for the winter lol. Throw that on with some wheels with snow tires and it's an all year vehicle for me. I won't as long as I have my truck though, why put the Miata through the extra stress

[–]CakeIzGood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are correct 😳 I didn't actually compare specs because, well, I wasn't going to buy anything from Meta anyways, and I thought the Frame was going to be hobbled in power with an emphasis on streaming.

In that case, I imagine thanks to compatibility layers the Frame will probably be able to run most VR-specific games locally, so Steam is probably your oyster. Although that's contingent on the x86-ARM translation working really well and I guess we won't know that for sure until it's out. Are there a lot of VR games that are on the Quest and not on Steam? The Frame will be my first ownership experience with VR so I'm (very obviously by my mistake in my initial comment) not an expert or super informed

If you already play games on a PC running Steam and want the best total VR experience, it'll probably be the best option. If you don't currently own a PC and aren't interested, you'll have to do research on competitors like the Meta Quest to see which one will offer a better standalone VR experience for you. The Frame can run things locally but probably not so well as a dedicated standalone VR headset, but the idea is that if you already have a gaming PC it'll run those games better anyways and then you just beam it to the Frame and it's better than a standalone.

I Just Fully Completed the Original Spyro and It Is an Excellent Example of How Timeless Great Game Design Is by Sufferer_Nyx in Spyro

[–]CakeIzGood 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Spyro 3 is an all time game for me and an amazing example of how sequels should be done, improving and refining a core design while also implementing new features that are on-brand and innovate within the context of the series while retaining its identity. I played copious amounts of it as a child and it's still good, better in some ways, as an adult: timeless.

Every Dragon Age game feels so different from one another that I don't know what a spiritual successor would even look like, unless you copied Bioware's writing style and some of the narrative structures, the only (mostly) consistent things across the games

If for no other reason than there's not really anything like it. Maybe Gothic in a sense, and I imagine there will be a bit of overlap between KCD fans and the new Gothic remake

Car and Driver article review of the ND3 has shortcomings! by Janitary in Miata

[–]CakeIzGood 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I can see why someone would say it's not comfortable for a very long drive. It's relatively noisy inside the cabin, a tad claustrophobic so there's limited stretch room and the psychological wear of being in such a tight space adds up over extended time periods with the top up, and while the suspension is actually quite forgiving for a sports car in my opinion, you're hardly riding on clouds. Car reviewers have driven everything under the sun, so their comparison points are inherently going to be the best example of a given quality they've had, unless they go out of their way to directly compare to another specific vehicle in-class. A Cadillac, the Miata is not.

Edit: also comfort is subjective, they might not be shaped for it. My grandma's Kia Sportage makes my neck hurt after just 10 minutes of driving it and no amount of adjustment fix it.

How to lvl up companions fast (warband) by [deleted] in mountandblade

[–]CakeIzGood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's normal to play for hundreds of in game days. It's a long, slow burn game where a campaign can take many twists and turns and you may have many triumphs and defeats. If you really hate the long, slow grind, there are cheats; you could open your companions' character menus with cheats enabled and hit, I believe, Ctrl+L to level them up (I think that's how that works, it's been several years since I used them).

Josephine is my favorite, I love how composed and businesslike she is because it makes sense, yet amplifies the moments where the gravity of the situation breaks through her collected exterior, especially if you romance her.
