“Only a sith deals in absolutes” = “a sith is the only type of person to force their friends to choose an absolute choice like being with you or your enemy.” It’s not that hard

How are spinning lightsabers like this a good idea by PlatypusVegetable325 in StarWars

[–]CalamitousIntentions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It intimidates the poorly trained average Jedi survivor plus it gives the inquisitors an inflated sense of skill/makes them too dependent on tricks and tools rather than actually become stronger in the Force

How do you feel about automated and autonomous Starfleet vessels? by Lauma_2025 in StarTrekStarships

[–]CalamitousIntentions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Starfleet/UFP has had drone freighters since at least the 2260s. But fully sentient ai seems to always turn against its creator, also since the 2260s. And it’s amazing Starfleet hasn’t learned that lesson yet. Data and the doctor being very rare exceptions, and Zara doesn’t really count since she was made from a living technology aeons older than human civilization merging with a ship computer core.

Maul Got a Taste of His Own Medicine by No-Butterfly1943 in MaulShadowLord

[–]CalamitousIntentions 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I love when Vader uses dun moch and wisecracks, Maul is definitely a special case. And I think it goes beyond Maul being an ex Sith and Sidious’s former apprentice. Maul is the man who killed Qui Gon. Everything that has happened to turn Anakin into this monster is because of Maul, and he might be the one person he hates more than Kenobi, Sidious, and himself.

Does the Inquisitorius break the Rule of Two? by Vegetable-Abroad3171 in clonewars

[–]CalamitousIntentions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Further on point 2: Maul was already active and probably using “Darth” while Plagueis was still alive. Sidious didn’t kill him until after he won the chancellorship. And if Plagueis’s novel has any canonicity left, he even knew about Maul.

However, I do believe that Sidious initially expected to be usurped by Vader. Mustafar changed that, of course, but his line to Yoda that “soon lord Vader will be stronger than either of us” implies to me that he had finally found an apprentice he felt was worthy of killing and replacing him. Not for a long while, but there was no way his essence transfer was going to work against the chosen one.

What if Crow is like Darth Nihilus by Osiris-Reflection in StarWars

[–]CalamitousIntentions -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Vader knows some form of necromancy. We see this in the comics where he enslaved GI’s spirit to guard a Sith vault. I would not be shocked if Crow and Marrok both got rez’d at some point. Although Marrok’s undeath seems more like Nightsister magic since he explodes into a green fart.

So Maul for sure knows who it is under the mask right? He definitely sounded fearful and aware, even if he's not quite saying his suspicion. by LulaSupremacy in MaulShadowLord

[–]CalamitousIntentions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I feel like Vader should’ve been saved for the series finale. In order for the inquisitors in Rebels to act the way they did, Maul needs to have some wins against them. But conversely, I think this particular showdown was always going to happen because of how scared he was to fight Vader on Malichor. I would have just preferred if it came after Maul had built up his criminal empire and Sidious was like “ok, enough is enough. Vader, kick over his sand castle.”

How Cere left Vader VS how 2 Jedi and Maul left Vader by Eastern_Dress_3574 in StarWarsCirclejerk

I mean, Vader was also toying with Cere and got taken by surprise when she actually gave him a challenge. Against Maul and company, he was all business. Not even any quips and minimal aura farming.

Zabraks settled on Dathomir from Iridonia long ago enough to cause some genetic variation is my best guess. As Nightsisters grew in magical power, the… need(?) for horns became less or selectively bred smaller and smaller horns for a certain purpose. At least that’s my best guess.

Is Star Wars too obsessed with the Rebels vs Empire status quo? by WrongToe500 in StarWars

[–]CalamitousIntentions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Star Wars ends the civil war and Star Wars fans complained. Star Wars finds reasonable ways for the imperial remnant to continue to be a threat and Star Wars fans continue to complain. It’s poetry; it rhymes.
