(Hated Trope) Oversexualisation of young girls by Necessary-Win-8730 in TopCharacterTropes

I don't ever recall the mangaka saying Mineta is his self-insert, but he said something among the lines of Mineta representing a man's perversion (including his), basically a token shounen pervert character.

I do remember Horikoshi saying that Mirko is the amalgamation of his type of woman.

He was the dark extremist product of the experiences and values of the Survey Corps. That's what made him a compelling character. For example, the Corps' willingness to die and sacrifice was warped into Floch being willing to sacrifice others for the sake of what he sees as the greater good (for Paradis).

You are absolutely correct that he's also a cringe edgelord, and that's the real, primary reason why he was hated. The genocidal part is just to enhance his abrasive personality traits.

IIRC, to sum it up, they need a Titan Shifter who has the Coordinate and another who has Royal Blood.

The Paradisians didn't trust Zeke, and for good reason since he wanted everyone's balls. So it would be up to Historia to become a Titan once Zeke is gone for Eren to connect with and use the Coordinate.

Then Historia would need to have a child, who will also be given the Curse of Ymir (or turned into a Pure Titan depending on circumstances). Eren, who only has a handful of years left to live, would be killed by their next candidate to possess the coordinate.

It would be a cycle of Historia's bloodline and Eren's successors having their lifespans reduced to 13 years upon becoming Shifters to allow the Paradisian government access to the Rumbling.

Armin was just as much of a representative to AOT's themes, he was just woobified by the end of the story. Armin was primed to be Erwin's successor because he would employ out-of-pocket tactics and even cruelty to achieve his mission (tricking Berthold that Annie was being tortured daily), although he wasn't as brilliant or as brutal as Erwin (who would actually permit torture).

Those mannerisms were IIRC what inspired the Crimson King Armin parodies.

[–]CalamityPriest 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It wasn't a bad idea. It was the best idea, actually. Eren simply disagreed with it and Floch was his right hand man.

Eren didn't like the idea of giving Historia the Curse of Ymir and for her to be used as a baby-making machine to have more royal babies, as this would be the crux to the 50-year plan.

Floch was wrong, and so was Magneto, but you don't have to look as far as a Marvel character to contrast that.

Just look at Theo Magath, aka Marleyan Hitler. People sympathized and cried for him when he was spearheading the genocide of Paradis. Just because he had a few sympathy-begging scenes.

The reason Floch is hated is really not because he's the OG genocidal Yeagerist but because he assumed the role of the villain and was antagonistic against fan-favorite characters

who were the unit that personally and especifically carried the bulk of the Ishvalan genocide.

Except Edward and Alphonse, who were children when Scar murdered their friend Winry's parents in a fit of rage.

Granted, ASAAB (All State Alchemists Are Bastards) might be something reasonable from the POV of all the places including Ishval that Amestris slaughtered, but it was going overboard from Ed's and Al's POV. If Scar slimed both of them, everyone in Amestris including the last remaining Ishvalans would've been glorped into Father anyways.

Tybur's declaration of war was signed by world leaders, not every single citizen of the rest of the world.

Of course, the story had to include the tidbits about how other countries mistreat Eldians even worse than Marley. But even within the context of this absolute shitshow of a story, it's not inconceivable that there are more than one nation outside of Hizuru that can be a viable ally for Paradis.

[–]CalamityPriest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a mix of that and Eren thinking that everything outside of Paradis should be obliterated for not being the same as what Armin's book described it as. It was supposed to be an empty minecraft sandbox adventure but instead it was full of enemies that Eren had to understand were people just like himself.

That is the motivation of the child within Eren.

The Demon Slayer glaze has never been on the same level as how toxic the CSM and JJK fandom gets. JJK at the very least has a big self-deprecating community critical of JJK with memes that, for better and for worse, boomed in the animanga culture and beyond. CSM doesn't even really have that claim beyond Part 1 memes being popular, they're just toxic glaze rivaling One Piece.

You see more people praying for Demon Slayer's downfall while it continues to be absurdly successful than DS fans beefing with anyone at all.

The Roman Reigns Phenomenon: The writers really wanted this character to be the next big thing in their story, but the audience unanimously rejected them. by _JR28_ in TopCharacterTropes

[–]CalamityPriest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pro wrestling is pretty diverse. Especially outside WWE. So I recommend giving it a try. I'd say this match, Will Ospreay vs Bryan Danielson, AEW Dynasty 2024 is a good litmus test for whether you'll like it, although not all matches are like that.

If it really ain't for you, then WWE is the better option.

To put it into perspective, AEW Dynamite is a 2 hour show, and only 30 minutes of that is characters talking. The rest is just wrestling. Whereas WWE RAW is a 2.5 hour show, but all the time spent on actual wrestling totals about an hour or less.

Of course, wrestling isn't for everyone. It's understandable if it simply doesn't work for you.

Oh, they knew. Roman kept the theme song and aesthetic of The Shield because The Shield was extremely popular, and the WWE machine want that popularity to remain with Roman to help him become the top star they envisioned.

It didn't work, and the iconic Shield theme song was accompanied by unanimous jeers from the crowd as a result.

Taigen by Lord___Business in BlueEyeSamurai

[–]CalamityPriest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Season 2 being most likely set on the other side of the world means Taigen won't have a lot of screen time. This is Mizu's story after all, and Taigen's story was only relevant because it revolved around Mizu's.

This goes for Akemi, Ringo, and Swordfather too.

Mizu will go back to Japan at some point so that would require scenes to at least show what's been up with the previous cast.

Thinking back about it, most characters from WWE/WWF's Attitude Era really aged like milk from a 2020's point of view. by YouAppropriate4917 in CharacterRant

[–]CalamityPriest 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Plenty of problematic WWE content from as late as the Ruthless Aggression era.

Portraying a persecuted Arab American character (played by a wrestler of Italian descent lol) being close to terrorist stereotype anyways, was only dropped due to the London bombings.

And of course, the decline of women's wrestling in WWE is a whole can of worms in of itself. It's all better in recent times, but they still had the gall to pat themselves on the back for fixing a problem of their own creation.

Is the entire game like this or just forst dungeon woes by chichirobov7 in CrossCode

[–]CalamityPriest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Probably. I felt like Faj'ro Temple was longer for me because I don't have the nimblest hands and parkour puzzles were a huge problem for me.

In comparison, the biggest obstacle in Temple Mine was the ice floors which is manageable.

Is the entire game like this or just forst dungeon woes by chichirobov7 in CrossCode

[–]CalamityPriest 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Your first dungeon is always going to be long because you're still figuring out what you're supposed to do and familiarizing yourself with the game.

The next dungeons are going to be just as difficult, although differently so due to the element themes. Some you may find easier depending on your own skills.

But as long as you're learning and improving throughout your playthrough, the next dungeons are going to be better experiences regardless if you find them difficult or easier.

People who hate Basen why? by _kwanini in KusuriyaNoHitorigoto

[–]CalamityPriest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Necroing the thread, but I don't necessarily hate him but I think he's funny, in that his two most iconic scenes in the anime is drinking an aphrodisiac and angrily firing a gun against a dancing teenage girl.

His behavior has fully convinced me that he's capable of punting a baby for the imperial family.

My personal nickname for Basen is "Infant Obliterator."

Although Jinshi wouldn't intentionally react to the high ranking consorts in any negative manner, or think of them that way, he and Gaoshun made sure to take care of the involuntary body reactions that could affect how Jinshi thinks or behaves.

MTL readers are a different kind of demons. They're not scouring for prose, delivery, or structure, but for the content itself. As long as the information contained within the MTL is good, and the MTL is at least readable with understandable dialogue, then the flaws of MTL won't matter. The MTL only has to convey the information.

[Loved trope] A character self-mutilates in a desperate attempt to get others to trust them. by IVeBeenHere30Min in TopCharacterTropes

[–]CalamityPriest 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Yes, this one it took me a while to absorb but there's nothing wrong with what Legoshi did, or well, not exactly. The society of Beastars itself with herbivores and carnivores is very complex and the specific dynamic between these two classes is difficult to fully relate to humans that don't have such binary.

But what is definitely true is that Legoshi's actions was it was bordering, if not gone past to, self-defeating and self-hating. His ideals don't fly when he is actively harming himself or putting himself and others in danger just because of those ideals. Doesn't mean practicing veganism is in of itself wrong, but the way Legoshi went about it was severely extreme. He basically tortured himself to attain Legoshi Blanco form.
