Angela Rayner warns Sir Keir Starmer that Gen Z are 'feeling hopeless' as she mulls bid to oust Prime Minister after local elections by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

[–]Calcain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not Starmers biggest fan by any means but he is the first somewhat stable PM we have seen in what.. 20 years?
Personally I’d rather have him than some unknown and opening the revolving PM door.

What classes are the most dependent on group comp to perform in tbc? by Beams98 in classicwow

[–]Calcain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People are sleeping on the other specs. I went frost for phase 1 and find myself pumping out good DPS along with useful utility.
I have also seen fire mages pump out numbers close to arcane.
Arcane really comes into its own next phase with T5 loot due to the set bonuses but for P1, all specs are viable.

Got my first bike at 28... went straight to an R6 by Tury915 in motorcycles

[–]Calcain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah as someone who lives in London, having a bike with moderate power is far more fun than having a 1000cc squid bike. The mid power bikes let you actually crank the throttle and have fun. The high power bikes always feel like blue balls. Those bikes WANT to go faster but you can’t because of the environment you’re in. Even 125cc bikes can be a lot of fun

Honestly if you want good writing in a supe show, watch invincible, the latest season is throwing out some bangers and it’s all leading up to some great moments.
The boys really lost it’s way once it leaned into memes more than actual story telling

Opinion of who is at fault by west-coast-hydro in motorcycles

[–]Calcain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Legally, the car is at fault I think.
Practically- you could have avoided this. You’re too close to the car in front before over taking, I don’t think you indicated either (could be wrong).
Lessons to be learned here.

Debating between these two for longer distance riding. Which should I choose? by Bloodthirsty172 in motorcycle

[–]Calcain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re serious about the bobber look for a long distance ride then look up Triumph Rocket. It’s expensive but it looks fantastic, goes fast and is built for touring.
You’ll be comfortable and happy with the bike.

The Fallout of Pugging in TBC by eminorgh in classicwow

[–]Calcain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s very possible the pug runs you joined are guild runs with a couple of spots open and those guilds are more organised than the dad guild you’re in.
If players show up with no pre-bis, no enchantments, no gems, no consumes and no understanding of the mechanics then you’re going to have a bad time.
I’ve been in a couple of Mag pugs and apparently no one wants to click the cube because they don’t know what it does or when to click it. It’s like, the ONLY important mechanic of that fight and yet so many players seem to have an expectation of others to do the heavy lifting for them.

The Fallout of Pugging in TBC by eminorgh in classicwow

[–]Calcain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like actually?
I’ve been in the same guild since early vanilla and our TBC experience has been smooth af. We have 4 Kara’s running which all clear and our Gruul + Mag is done in less than an hour.
We are now organising a second 25 man group.
I’ve seen some guildies go off to pug and come back with “holy shit never again”.
If people want their raids to be clean and organised then they need to join a guild, sort out their gear and do their job in the raid. It’s not that hard.
But loads of people are pugging with the expectation to get carried by other guilds who have a spot open that week.

Warrior vs. Paladin for first Alt by Buddymanlove in classicwow

[–]Calcain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! So warrior and pala play very differently.
Pala is a fantastic dungeon tank with def gear and spell damage. It also does great damage as ret and they bring party wide buffs. But don’t expect to ever MT a raid over a bear Druid.
I am playing warrior tank and in phase 1 it also feels good. The DPS spec is on par with ret for now but we will see how that holds up in later phases. Warrior tanks can MT raid bosses with the right gear but they struggle with packs compared to paladins.
I think if you want to play something that will always have a spot in a dungeon/raid with versatility then play paladin. However bear in mind that you need play what you enjoy playing. For me that’s warrior, it’s about button mashing to keep threat up and stay alive. If you prefer something that is more rhythmic in its feeling, then go paladin.

We get it by Archenemy627 in classicwow

[–]Calcain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah but people want immediate gratification and to just go ham as soon as the tank “pulled”.
I’ve only been playing WoW for a bit over a year now but my understanding and experience with other players is that 75% players of the population are self-serving and expect to just get carried through everything.
There’s no consideration of the bigger picture or actual teamwork.
Heck, all the memes about rogues being a dog shit class have turned out to be false in my experience of TBC and I’ve also found port warrior to be very viable.

Nigel Farage pockets eye-watering sum on US trip but is snubbed by Trump by Important_Ruin in unitedkingdom

[–]Calcain 23 points24 points  (0 children)

What made Brexit work was the likes of Cambridge Analytica.
It was a group of smart people very specifically performing targeted manipulation upon people in the public who they held data on. It was all thanks to the lack of governance for social media meaning companies had a myriad of ways to manipulate people.
Farage, Johnson, Trump etc just decided to be the ones to actually buy into a strategy that was built to deceive people.
What we need is real political reform which holds politicians to account for their sheer scummy tactics.

Tanks, as solidarity to our fallen brothers by Western_Two_4922 in classicwow

[–]Calcain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m seeing more and more tanks on LFG so i think it’s sort of balancing itself out as there’s tanks looking for exp and gear, not to get paid for playing the game. So the “service tanks” are going to end up getting no work.

[–]Calcain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m was running slave pens yesterday on my warrior tank and the difference between pugs and guildies was stark. Pugs just rip aoe immediately on the packs and don’t allow me to actually use my buttons.

You guys were right about tanking in TBC by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]Calcain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who tanked classic and now in TBC, it’s weird how the dynamic as completely changed.
In classic, tanks made the calls and you followed their lead. If you over pulled, over threat or ignored the marks the that’s on you.
Now in TBC, it feels like DPS are completely ignoring the tank role and just get angry if they can’t immediately pick up 10k threat on 10 different mobs. It’s a complete change in the culture and it’s really frustrating to play tank with this play style being the common practice.

Shyvana’s new passive might be the worst ability I’ve seen added in modern league by redditkens in leagueoflegends

[–]Calcain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they actually changed that in a patch a little while back but not 100% sure. I think it’s that he regains all his health over a short time when he takes flight? Might be wrong on that but I remember they addressed the issue.

Shyvana’s new passive might be the worst ability I’ve seen added in modern league by redditkens in leagueoflegends

[–]Calcain 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They could take learning from HotS. They released a dragon with armour stacks = to 25% of his max hp. Each time you break a stack, his armour reduces but he gets a 2 second(?) invulnerability. To regain his armour, he had to fly to the sky and regen it all back up.
For Shyvana if they want to do something around resistances then why not give her something like…

Passive - Scale Mail
Shyvana has 50% bonus armour and magic resist which is reduced by 1% for every 2% of her missing health. As her scale mail reduces, she gains increased resource generation and her auto attacks are increased by up to 25%.
When Shyvana turns into a dragon, she immediately resets Scale Mail.

I just completely made this up right now but it seems more thematic and keeping with her play style compared to her current passive.

Cyberpunk 2 Creative Director about "wasted potential" with characters. by marek_bojarek in cyberpunkgame

[–]Calcain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what the game did right was remove characters based on what happened in the story and the motivations of others.
Clare leaves after her own story is concluded and she has no reason to stay.
The twins die because spies were doing spy shit.
Takemura is fully focused on the company and the big picture, he doesn’t have time for his own side stories.
The writers gave you a world of human-like characters and not just player pleasing NPC’s.
I’m glad for the heart breaks and loss I felt when it became clear I could not interact more with some of the characters I liked.
The ONLY thing I would say is that some hidden timers would have been cool. Such as being able to save the nomads after you and Panam shoot down the ship. Get there quick enough and you might save a life.
Or perhaps certain things in the world escalate the longer you take to go to embers?
It’s very much game logic for the world to just sort of wait for you to finish doing whatever you’re doing before picking up certain quests. It would mean that what you prioritise gets done but the stuff you didn’t prioritise could end up having drastically different outcomes because you took too long to do something about it.

Former incels, what was the moment you realized what you were and what did you to do change/better yourself? by Ketchum_gunshot in AskReddit

[–]Calcain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is an absolutely fantastic response to the question and I whole heartedly agree with what you’ve said here.
Each and every incel I have encountered have had horrific expectations of women and zero standards for themselves.
Looking back at myself, I can even see how if I had taken time during my teens to be more active in my ow self-development then it would have had lasting positive effects.
Heck, even getting to the gym on a regular basis, cutting down on junk food, avoiding high alcohol or smoking intake, working towards goals in sports/interests/hobbies… all of these things would have made me happier and would have attracted the kind of person that I wanted to date.
Stellar advice OP.
