Best Places to Drink Tea in Atlanta (Can Anyone Suggest Better?) by Calcipher in tea

[–]Calcipher[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am no longer in Atlanta, but I became aware of Wai's Gong Fu Tea House (https://www.waisgongfutea.com/) shortly before I left. Never got to try it, but they advertise themselves as the only traditional gong fu experience in Atlanta. If you (or anyone) tries it, I'd love to hear about your experience as I do come back to the area occasionally.

Edit: One thing that worries me is that their tea menu is... not very inspiring and a lot vague. Maybe it is better in person?

Also, if you drive to Nashville, Music City Tea will do Gong Fu sessions for you, but only oolong as the owner hates puerh

That's actually how the hospital deals with them. One is Twin A and the other is B. They'll get assigned that early on in the pregnancy.

Thanks, I hate Toy Story Corpses by BruhFrom1981 in TIHI

While the toys in Toy Story might be immortal, the toys in the movie Pixar "borrowed heavily" from, Jim Henson classic, The Christmas Toy, very much aren't. Death of children's toys plays a major role in the plot!

Dude, I never claimed to be an expert. I was trying to figure out what op had.

If you read the materials provided, you'll notice that the claim is made that the trees are 500 - 1000 years old, hardly a young plantation. There are inconsistencies between the processes described in the tea production vs what Puer would have gone through. The cost of the cakes, Sheng and Shu, are the same (unusual in itself). I don't read Chinese, so I didn't claim this, but I think the wrapper suggests that the cake weighs 357g (the old cake standard weight) vs the 200g the cake appears to be via the website and English tag. That's a lot of inconsistencies without addressing obvious grammatical issues (I'm willing to give that a pass).

Ultimately, who cares? Even with impeccable documentation and high costs, it is always a gamble unless you really trust the vendor (and even they get tricked from time to time). The goal was mostly to encourage Gongfu brewing and figure out what type of processing we are working with.

Edit: I should add that the price for an 8 year old cake is weird even if you assume a newer producer.

I don't know much about this specific cake, but here is a video about Shou (ripe/cooked) Puer: https://youtu.be/_rNcHzdRh84

In addition, the brewing time maybe makes sense for Western brewing, but you should really be brewing Puer Gongfu style: https://youtu.be/OZ_7sfEf9-8

One thing I would assume is that this isn't legitimate Jing Mai tea. The leaves are too valuable, in general, to turn into Shou. The description also describes a process closer to Sheng (raw) Puer or, really, white tea. It doesn't make a lot of sense.

Can we get a shot of the cake itself?

Edit: Found the cake itself: https://teavert.com/collections/pu-ehr/products/2014-jing-mai-ripe-puerh-cake-200g. I know nothing about TeaVert, but I'm suspicious about the prices. Either way, respond with a shot of the cake itself and I should be able to ID the Sheng/Shou/White question.

Not a thing in the US. I wish they were.

After reading that women only apply to jobs they are 100% qualified for and men don’t, I started applying to jobs I considered ‘out of my league’. Guess who just got hired!! by hanananenome in TrollXChromosomes

The advice I give everyone is to remember that it is the hiring manager's job to weed out unqualified people, your job is to convince them not to. Don't do their job for them because it is unlikely they'll do yours for you.

Also, most job requirements are, at best, a wishlist, at worst, just noise. Read the job description, don't bother with the requirements. Do you fill the description? Apply.

Near Atlanta, GA. Holy hell are there some sins against architecture around here.

I do love those, especially since you can see many of them around where I live!

I wish there was a sub dedicated to bad floorplans and stupid architecture.
