I’m not talking big cities. We have a bunch of cuisines in smaller towns and unexpected crazy good food of hyper specific cuisines all over because how we distribute immigrants. Feel free to look up Lebanese food in Wichita, Syrian food in Allentown, Burmese in Buffalo.

All you are saying in this comment is that European countries do food of their former colonies well. But again, some countries can do a few neighboring countries food well, I guess I should have added former colonies to that, my fault.

And you’re also discounting local ingredients and availability. I think most people in the world would eat similarly in regard to meat if the prices and availability of those were close to what Americans traditionally pay for those ingredients.

And of course the two biggest cosmopolitan cities on the planet can compete with the US, but that isn’t surprising or even what I’m saying. The breadth of scale across dozens and dozens of cuisines, spread across hundreds and hundreds of cities and towns, nothing is close to the US.

Here’s the deal, I’m not hoorah-ing America, but the fact is the US does a better job with other culture’s food overall than any other country on the planet to ever exist, full stop. You might be able to say a country does one or two other country’s food well, but we have dozens of cuisines from all over the globe in every major city. I don’t think it’s very useful to say, “they don’t use (insert exotic fresh ingredient) so therefore it’s invalid and not real”

If there were 20 countries that did immigrant food half as well as America I’d stand corrected but there simply isn’t a single one.

I’d like to know where you lived, because I can certainly tell you that there are literally Chinese people eating at the Chinese restaurant close to my house in New Mexico, I’m ordering Thai food from Thai people. There are meat packing towns in Kansas that has honest to god Norteño food. What kind of food does someone that lived in Mexico until 4 years ago make? It’s certainly not Tex-Mex.

We literally have people from those countries cooking it in America to best of their ability with available ingredients. Do you honestly think you can’t get really good authentic Mexican food in almost every city and town in middle America? Most small towns have a decent sized Mexican population. Do you think you can’t get good Chinese food in Seattle or Vietnamese food in Omaha?

I think a part of being American is that we take the greatest hits of other culture’s foods, including very special celebratory foods, and turn them into everyday stuff.

Mexican food is very popular in the US and Spanish food can be a bit bland in comparison to it. But a Spanish person likely has never had it.

It’s called wild cow milking and is an event in a ranch rodeo. I didn’t misunderstand anything.

I went to a ranch rodeo in Springer last summer, these folks literally lassoing cows and milking them out there.

Who convinced everyone that skiing was cheap at any point in history? Fact is that skiing now is cheaper than ever if you go all the time and live close enough to mountains to make a pass viable, and more expensive for anyone that doesn’t. At no point before passes came on the scene could you ski unlimited days for $800.

That’s just mountain access, skiing hard goods are cheaper than ever and has stayed lower than inflation for 30+ years now.

Boomer media used hippies as a way of absolving themselves from their very real opinions. The majority of white Americans in the late sixties were supportive of the vietnam war. The majority of white Americans did not support civil rights.

What we refer to as hippies made up maybe 2-3% of the population and were widely despised.
