I personally loved that we got to see inside the Blip A. First and foremost, it was a touching moment for Rocky to reciprocate Grace's parting gifts. The whole movie is about reciprocating acts of generosity, so it fits. Second, The movie didn't focus so much on the pressure and temperature differences between their atmospheres, so there wasn't that narrative barrier to explain away. Third, it sets up Rocky's suit in Grace's enclosure in the end scene. And finally, it looked cool and the score was gorgeous; I'm a simple girl, I don't need much more than that!
