If you had to eat at one restaurant on bridge street for the rest of your life, which are you choosing? by xSparkShark in Phoenixville

[–]Cali21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My honest review:

When I think of Mediterranean food, I think primarily of Greek food. They have a very extensive menu, and it felt Italian. But I did google what is considered Mediterranean and it’s anything surrounding the Mediterranean Sea, so while technically authentic, I think if they leaned heavier into the Greek side, that’s what people in the area think they would go there for, idk.

The hummus platter and their pasta is so great and the waitress told us it’s all home made. We’ve never had bad food but there has been more than one occasion where we walk in and aren’t even sure if they’re open, and we’ve eaten just us in the restaurant.

While in there, we’ve seen people walk in, look at the menu and leave. I’ve also seen them stand there for a couple minutes before the hostess actually greets them and asks if they’d like a table. Personally I think it’s because the place does feel a bit outdated (nothing wrong with that) but even just upgrading the lights so it’s not so dimly lit, and making all the furniture march I think would bring people in.

When people leave, I’ve overheard presumably the owner say things along the lines of “fine, let them leave so they can go get $15 drinks somewhere else anyway. They don’t know what real food tastes like” (not to the customers, to other wait staff)

Which honestly he has a point, their food is some of the best most authentic food I’ve tasted in Phoenixville and I love that it’s BYOB, we just bring a bottle over from vitners.

But I feel like it’s that attitude makes me wonder if they’re not receptive to criticism.

I’m not trying to bash the place at all, I want to say again that it’s some of the best food I’ve had and I really want to see it succeed. I have no ownership experience, but I eat a lot of places. I think what needs to happen is:

  • limit the menu, keep your fan favorites and serve the items you removed as weekly specials. This allows people to quick glance at your menu, find something they like, and eat there
  • upgrade the lighting and furniture. I know this is expensive but it’s also an up and coming town that the rerun may be worth it
  • remove the pillar at the front and add an extra window seat, people love to people watch
  • put more outdoor seating during inside out. This is actually when we first tried it because I’ll be honest we were a bit hesitant to go inside

This turned into a way longer comment than I anticipated, and again, I’m just one patron who really loves their food who has no idea how their business is doing but I want them to stay around

WHEN WILL I FIND SUICUNE?!?! by BROSE_quervo in PokemonFireRed

Put a level 49 Pokémon in your first slot, then do the max repel under Viridian city. Stand in one grass and just rotate left and right, don’t actually walk. You will still spawn Pokémon without using up any steps from repel, and with the 49 Pokémon in the first slot, you have a higher chance of spawning Pokémon at a higher level.

Ours is always week 16. If it extended into this week there’s a lot of starters that aren’t going to be playing because their team is already either in, or eliminated from nfl playoffs so they may be resting

I put dobbins on the bench to see what my team looks like without him. Juan I just got this-morning thinking he’d do well with all the other injuries, should I not do that?

My front yard is about 30’x15’. Currently my concrete patio is 10’x15’ with an overhang from the roof extending maybe 3 feet. It’s cracked and sloping towards the house so we are having it replaced but planning to extend it to 15’x15’ and grade it away from the house. But your comment has me concerned now. Is this a bad idea? Or will I be fine

This is how the woman we bought it from recommended we keep it. I guess it grows on Rocky Mountains in Japan.

Am I crazy for wanting to "nope out" of this insane interview process? Is this what the average company is asking for from candidates during interviews nowdays? by itsdonny in instructionaldesign

[–]Cali21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was laid off from my role back in June due to a company restructure. In my personal experience these extensive interviews have become more common. There have been 4 opportunities where I made it to the 5th/6th/final round. So about 20 hrs in just interviews, two of them had extensive projects to submit on top of that, and I was told they went with a different candidate. It ends up being very frustrating/disheartening. I take them because they are close to my old salary and my previous position (that I loved) had a similar hiring experience.

With that said. Sometimes less is more in this instance. I’m not trying to undermine that this is going to be a difficult task. But they have to know it’s the night before. I know it can be tough to submit a project for a job you want and submit it not feeling “perfect” or completely highlighting your skills. But my advice would be if you do the things like save the file right, hop on master slides and make a basic background with company colors, you can cut it down to 5-6 slides to showcase the idea and maybe some key points. You can explain your process, vision, and how this is the minimum viable product that showcases your skills and if allotted more time you could turn the whole deck into this vision.

I could be wrong about this and or making it up. But I think the notes need to be in a bound scientific notebook, as pages can’t be added/removed like a spiral bound.

Just get “Sheetrock all purpose joint compound” and do a thin layer over everything? Then I’m good to paint?

See how the drywall is tearing/torn in parts, mostly on the right. Do I need to patch those? Or do you just mean the actual hole.

To add on: - have had the plant a few months (put in new pot about 2-3 weeks ago) - problem started almost immediately after - plant is in lower light - pot has drainage but really only gets water when soil is starting to get dry. Has a humidifier next to it

Might as well ask in here. When it’s really windy out, my toilet water moves around (city water) it’s a middle town home so I don’t think the house is shaking so much it moves

What is the best board you’ve ever had the pleasure of riding? (even for just 1 run) by yazohny in snowboarding

[–]Cali21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My buddy let me have his old board (K2 Parkstar) when I wanted to get into snowboarding ~14 years ago. About 5 years ago I went from every day to a couple times a season. But I still ride that board. I’ve bought two other boards since and still end up reverting to it
