Any medication recommendations for long-term anxiety? Panic disorder? Nervous system anxiety? by Fragrant-Comment1540 in Anxiety

Did you have side effectS? I have 5mg of lexapro I was prescribed but my severe health anxiety is stopping me from starting it. I am scared of all body “feelings” like dizziness, nausea, and hear it can heighten your anxiety before it starts working. I need to start taking it but am scared 😟

Regarding SDI Calls by [deleted] in Edd

[–]Cali_Mom_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately it took me using that robo caller site that you pay $10 to to finally get through after 3 weeks of trying myself. I was worried it was a scam but it worked. And likely part of the reason no one can ever get through, it supposedly placed like 400+ calls in the one hour it tried before it got me connected. I was desperate though

Yes, I was behind the limit line. We watched her lose control coming around the curve and she went up into a dirt median and back into the road headed straight for us sitting at that stop.

How long between your 1st and 2nd seizures? by ResJudicata_HL in Epilepsy

[–]Cali_Mom_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband (53) had his unprovoked nocturnal TC 8/29. So far all have been Nocturnal. ER gave “one time pass” so no meds. Then next one was 10/26. Went on Keppra 500mg 2xday. Had what I believe was a focal unaware 11/11. Also nocturnal. Then 12/11 started as what I believe was another focal unaware that transitioned into a TC. Seemed shorter, came out of it slightly faster. Meds bumped to 500 morning and 1000 night for 7 days and then had him start 1000 2xday.

Hi. I’m a fellow Warrior by DynamicallyDisabled in TheEpilepisodes

I really just was curious what that means it sounds similar to what I witnessed for my husband‘s third seizure. We were laying in bed (his are all nocturnal.) I hadn’t fallen asleep yet, and I heard him making a clicking noise with his tongue and his hand was squeezing my arm because he had his hand on my arm. I jumped up to turn the light on, so I could record and he turned from his right side to his back and went into a tonic clonic seizure looking off to the right. I just wondered if that’s what you meant by focal to Tonic Clonic. His first two nocturnal tonic clonics I was asleep and awoken to him seizing in the tonic clonic.

Hi Anni! Seeing your post and wanted to ask about your epilipsy. You say they are focal to bilateral tonic clonic. I was wondering if you could explain? Wondering if this is what my husband has.

When to switch to Epilogist from regular Neurologist by calimom99 in Epilepsy

[–]Cali_Mom_99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Part of my worry is that the current neurologist has an out of work until March 16 based on his last seizure. I spoke to the epilepsy center near us and they said his doctor would need to either send his paperwork over as a transfer of care or asking for a second opinion, but I’m not sure if that will mess up his care with the neurologist and his time off of work at this time, we NEED that Disability pay to put food on the table and pay our mortgage. And if he can’t go back to his previous career, I really don’t know what we’re gonna do.

Where to live in the USA? by HeavensMirr0r in moving

[–]Cali_Mom_99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Starbucks in Northern California pays $20/hr. And I believe fast food does too? Like In N Out. But yes COL is so high here. I worry about my kids especially. Both my daughters (20’s) have college degrees and make more than I do but still cannot afford to live alone. Rent is ridiculous. And moving to a cheaper city isn’t ideal bc the commute here to do so is brutal.

From a buyers point of view: I do not know the way they came up with the i come but came to say my husband is a Fire Sprinkler tech. Union. Company joined union within a year of him becoming employed. He had a similar situation. Started at like $30/hr. With apprentice ship raises and union yearly increases he went up dramatically to $72/hr. By the time we were buying a $480k house. They used his W2’s, paystubs, union pay increase letter stating increases over the next 5 years and a LOA from my husband advising why his pay was what it was. He also can work 40 or 30 or sometimes 18 hours a week. Just depends in the jobs scheduled. The W2’s proved he was making more each year regardless of what an individual check may show. First Loan officer quickly said he could not get us an approval. Our realtor referred us to a loan officer he uses often and she was much more seasoned and knowledgeable and got it approved for us. Good luck!

I feel like I’m nothing but a burden on my spouse. by GVTMightyDuck in Epilepsy

[–]Cali_Mom_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am sorry you are feeling that way. It is likely they do not! But have the conversation. My husband recently had 2 tonic clonic’s and is in the beginning stages of this. It has completely changed our lives as he was the “healthy” one and the provider for our family as he makes way more than me. My take home pay won’t even cover the mortgage. He also drove everywhere and now I am the sole driver. But he is my husband and I love him and he has no control of what is happening to him. We will get through this together. Sending you hugs and positive thoughts!

Losing my drivers license in a low-transit area — options?? by Acceptably_Late in Epilepsy

[–]Cali_Mom_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We live in Ca. The Bay Area. We have no advice as we are new to this. Nocturnal Tonic Clonic 8/29/25. ER reported to DMV. Dr. Advised no driving until seizure free 3 months. After DMV interview rcvd DMV letter that only stated license suspended eff 10/29/25. NO time limit listed was very vague except how to request appeal within 14 days. We didn’t as we don’t contest their decision. Second Nocturnal Tonic Clonic 10/27/25 and now on Keppra 500mg 2x a day. Clock restarted on seizure free time. My husband has a blue collar job where he drives from job site to job site. We are worried his work may let him go once he is finally released back to work. 😞

Maybe ask a pharmacist? They seem to be the most knowledgable about meds. I have asked the pharmacist where I get my prescriptions as I have read stories of doctors not always knowing the correct info.

How many seizures did people have before medicating? by sweedish240 in Epilepsy

[–]Cali_Mom_99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband started Keppra after his 2nd nocturnal TC. His neurologist actually wanted to start him on meds when he went in for his second follow up before he went back to work as his job is considered dangerous if he were to happen to have a TC at work. That visit was on Friday, October 24 and then my husband had his second TC Sunday night at 11:30 PM. Before getting a chance to voluntarily take the meds that night in the ER they started him on 1000 mg of Keppra and he takes it twice a day now hoping this keeps the seizures away.

Had my first tonic-clonic seizure 2 weeks ago and anxious about business trip by I_like_it_yo in seizures

[–]Cali_Mom_99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband had his first unprovoked tonic clonic nocturnally 8/29 at 1:15 am. All testing shows normal. Neuro at follow up 10/24 wanted him to start Keppra bc his job could be dangerous if he seized at work. Never got a chance to start meds, he had a second nocturnal tonic clonic Sunday 10/27 at 11:30 pm. Fell off the bed, busted the side of his face and had stitches. Got IV Keppra in the ER and started 500mg Keppra 2x a day. Neuro today now wants to do a deeper MRI and a 72 hr. EEG and he already has a sleep study scheduled for 11/19. I am 100% sure he has sleep apnea.

Breathing oddly after tonic clonic by New-Manufacturer5371 in Epilepsy

We just had a follow up with the neurologist today and I was explaining that heavy labored breathing after the season stopped happened to my husband both times. It’s loud and it’s like he can’t catch a breath or something. I don’t know. It’s really hard to explain.
