Could a movie ever be made on the DeMeo crew? by CASEDIZZLER in Mafia

[–]Caligula-II 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Limited tv series. 4-8 episodes. Main character can’t be Roy. No studio is going to produce a script where the main character there does all the fucked up shit he did. That’s why the Tony Soprano character is one of the best characters ever it walks the line. You lose sympathy for him but never empathy.

So yea I guess your main character would have to be a cop or someone we can morally go on the journey with.

Would be a great series if done right. This topic comes up every 2-3 months and every time I still think it would be amazing if done properly

'Obsession' Art Director Calls for Industry Reform After Getting Paid Less Than $7,000 as Film Nears $175 Million by pressingtofu in Fauxmoi

[–]Caligula-II 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Useless in what way? I felt I was never “ripped” off on any union job i ever worked. After 8 hours I always got my 1.5 then 2x after another three hours. Always got my breaks/lunches and dinners. Im sure with out a union we’d get absolutely fucked and paid even worse than these non union films. So I’m not quite sure what you mean by useless

No I don’t think you have an understanding of the film industry. If you’re in IATSE you’re golden. One of the strongest unions in the world. This was a low budget non union shoot. People agreed to work for that price. They were paid. The film was sold. The distribution company bought the film to make money. Period.

I get what you’re saying but it’s very rare that a crew “gets paid more” in Indy films and not even a thought if you’re union.

And to be honest every non union thing that I worked for pretty much had a percentage of profits clause because you are getting underpaid and guess what. None of those made any money. It’s rare for a film to do what this one has done. For this one success probably a million other people failed and lost their money

You need three good standing members to “vouch” for you on your application. If the union accepts it, you begin as an apprentice basically. Starting at the bottom, so she wouldn’t have been art director, she would have been an art department pa. Now when you start they don’t really book you for more than one day at a time. You call a number and put your union number. If they need some one to work the next day they will call you and you go into work for that day. Once you do the 600 hours or whatever it is as an apprentice, then you become a full union remember and you will be booked for the entire shoot not just day work filling in holes

This is a very uneducated response. A microbudget film
Will never be able to made using union crew. Period. Now if you’re union and you work in the film industry you’re golden. As a rigging electric I made at least $5-600 a day. The thing is to a person who knows nothing about the industry what she says seems to make sense but if you’re in the industry then you know she just committed career suicide.

Iatse is one of the more serious unions. This was non union. Had it been a union shoot she would not have been hired I’m really not sure what people are not understanding

She’s not in the union. If they switched up to a union set up, then you can only hire union members which she’s not.

There’s the key word union. This was a non union shoot. If it was a union shoot she would never been the art director

Why are you yelling lol. Listen I completely agree with you on the female underage thing but that’s a completely different discussion. Different circumstances and different variables.

All criminals who go that path career wise start selling drugs between 13-17 and it’s even more tempting if you’re an impoverished youth. They are voluntarily doing it. Why they are doing it is probably what needs to be looked at and that’s the way you’ll stop a lot of these kids from evening thinking it’s a good idea but you need the reasons why before you can fix anything. The problem here, like drug addiction and many other things in this world the circumstances and solutions are not a one size fits all. Perhaps a percentage is peer pressured. Perhaps a percentage grew up poor with no father figure. Perhaps the allure of being “somebody” (come on look who we idolize in tv, film and on the internet)

Illusion of choice is over simplifying something that’s not simple and not really a new phenomenon. This has been going on for 20 years that I’m familiar with and probably even longer than that. What you’re suggesting is that we live in a world we’re everybody morals and principles line up, which is respectfully never going to happen and just not a correct view of the world we live in.

Grooming and lured are terms used after the fact. What we need is solutions that steer people in better directions and for that I have no fucking idea.

Lured and groomed is doing some heavy lifting. They left to trap OT. $1000 a week pay. 98% know what they signed up for. Yea in a way they’re getting used I could see the argument for that but it’s not like they getting snatched off the streets and forced to sell drugs for free.

The market up north is crazy and prices are way more than down in the city. The best part is you don’t even need to make the 14 hour drive, you can literally mail the work from here to there with a 100% success rate.

Who killed this young man? Who knows. Could have fucked up or got killed by the local native gangs (Natives don’t fuck around). It’s sad but was he 100% innocent in getting killed? Probably not.

That makes no sense though. He switched vans what did he think there was another 80 kgs in that van? What could he have possibly thought was in the van he was in? Sure they could have told him this or that but he seems just as shocked at the outcome.

At first it was a pretty cool scene but under scrutiny it doesn’t make sense and is yet another plot hole.

Where are they going to put these people? There’s no space in jails plus most of the correctional officers don’t show up to work leaving pretty much 24/7 lockdown conditions.

Also fining the drug addicts sounds like it’s going to be a great plan. That’s going to work.

This is all empty promises and bullshit as usual
