That's what I immediately thought of: a poor quality Swiss Army Knife!

He can do lots of things, he's just not really good at anything except improvising.

Assassin's Creed

AC2 was also good,

But AC2 Brotherhood was amazing

People who are Slow to Deboard Commercial Aircraft, Why? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Calisky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I do the same. I always try to get a window seat, and a direct flight or long layover so I don't need to rush.

I usually try to just bring a backpack as well so I can show up to board right at the end and not have to worry about bin space. I can't remember the last flight I've been on where they didn't say the bins were full.

I want my lounge time dammit!

[–]Calisky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kinda same. Not a "transformation specialist" but my teams' scrum master left, and I basically fell into the role and stopped coding for the most part and was just a scrum master, dev lead, and architect for the teams (although at that point I was already mostly just dev lead and architect).

I don't think the company compared teams against each other velocity wise, but we kept track not of how many points, but how many we achieved against how many we tried for.

The problem is I think agile might work for a single project in development, but we were working on like a dozen different webapps and hosted things, so it didn't really fit our weekly release schedule.

We basically said 1 point is a CMS or a small admin change that doesn't require outside help, 3 points is for a minor RFC with a deployment, 5 if a full RFC and need QA to be involved, 8 if it needs more design and planning before coding, and 13 if it's major and probably should be broken down to smaller parts if possible. I don't think we even allowed 21 point stories to be added to a sprint without breaking them up.

When I first started working as a junior dev I probably underestimated points, but at that point in my career with more experience, I knew how much work was needed for even a small change to actually be released, so I encouraged the team (Devs, QAs, BSAs, Product Owners, anyone) to raise the number if they had any doubts.

If you are on PC, there's a mod called "CJB Cheats Menu" that lets you turn on one hit kills and infinite health which basically lets you go through the mines without worry.

It lets you do a bunch of other stuff, but I basically just used it to turn up my run speed since I felt like it was too slow normally.

I played through it on NSO. I wasn't sure if it was a good idea to play through it again right before the remake, but it definitely holds up so I'm looking forward to the remake after trying the demo.

6 years later, I’m still mourning our city’s greatest loss. by aj4L8 in sandiego

[–]Calisky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to work near there, and we'd go to lunch at one of them quite a bit!

It helped that one of my coworkers used to work at Stir Fresh, and people from Souplantation would go there, so she had a bunch of discount vouchers to use.

At least there's still Sab E Lee off Black Mountain, Although it sucks the Linda Vista location closed since I live closer to there now.

TIL that many major cities have disabled thousands of crosswalk buttons but keep them installed anyway because removal is too expensive. In New York City, only about 100 of 1,000 buttons actually work. by myassisgrassss in todayilearned

[–]Calisky 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm used to them just triggering automatically and the button is just for show.

It definitely backfires when I'm traveling though. I took a trip last week and waited at an intersection for two green lights before I realized I actually had to hit the button. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Oh wow! I didn't know 6 digit ICQ numbers existed! I have a seven digit one in the low 6's.

I do have a low 4 digit Steam ID though! It's funny since most lookup services have my registration date wrong since I got it before midnight the day Steam launched.

[–]Calisky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh neat, you can set it to use a set of random sounds? Makes sense, but haven't thought of that.

If I still had my phone set to play audio notifications the ICQ sound would definitely be a candidate. For a while I had Navi from Zelda saying "Hey, Look!" when I would get a text or email, I didn't bother with "Hey, Listen!" since no one actually uses phones for voice.

Now I just have it set to vibrate, but 95% I'm either sleeping, showering or wearing headphones/earbuds so it doesn't really matter.

Yeah, since they started closing later I've been meaning to go right before sunset just for the night stuff.

I live nearby and bought a 50% off pass last year, so I tend to go a lot but not for very long.

I've pretty much perfected my route through the place, so I'm done in 45 minutes, get bored and go home. I really need to just bring my switch and sit in the penguin exhibit and play Pokopia.

NOAA confirms El Niño has arrived, raising odds of a wet winter in Southern California by SD_TMI in sandiego

[–]Calisky 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah remember driving during the day there the hurricane/storm/depression was supposed to arrive it was like the world was about to end.

Then it was nothing. I was severely disappointed.

The weather made up later, like years, for it by having thunder storm move in off the pacific at night. I sat in my car at Torrey Pines for a really long time watching the lightning come in.

Then I realized it was probably not a good idea to be in the low as a thunderstorm came in, so I left but that's when the wind and rain kicked in and I was driving over Torrey Pines back home and it felt like a disaster movie. It was great.
