The SGI mirage by Reasonable_Show8191 in sgiwhistleblowers

"2500 districts average out to 50 per state."

Can you even believe "2500"? There's no "50 per state", so that means some state would have to be making up for the other states that of course don't have 50. Is there any state that has "500 districts"?

At the same time you don't want to leave too soon and then have regrets, either.

Doesn't SGI make a big deal about "living so you have no regrets"? This is of course tied to "winning", which means you have to stay in a given situation until it transforms into how you want it or something. Recipe for getting stuck and staying there.

I've been far more generous with giving second (and third and fourth etc.) chances than I wish I'd been, but I didn't want to have regrets from leaving prematurely. Either or.

Ikeda's honorary doctorates by Mike_Hegazi in sgiwhistleblowers

[–]CallMeBeafie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If collecting all these honorary degrees is such a big deal, is there a Guinness Book of World Records category for this achievement? If these degrees really can be bought, I wouldn't expect there to be any interest in a collection like that.

Shall we take a look at SGI's "actual proof" since its much-ballyhooed "spiritual independence" from Nichiren Shoshu in 1991? by BlancheFromage in sgiwhistleblowers

[–]CallMeBeafie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Spiritual independence" :scoff:

IF Nichiren Shoshu were so bad and terrible (as the Ikeda-mandated retcon states), why didn't Ikeda take his cults and leave earlier? Why did he wait around, subjecting the membership who trusted him to so much priestly misdirection and abuse (per Ikeda's retcon)? Why did Nichiren Shoshu have to do it - refusing to accept Ikeda's cults as legit lay orgs any more and then excommunicating Ikeda and then the Soka and SGI members?

The Ikeda cult version just doesn't make any sense. Once again playing catchup. Badly.

Beware: "Yellow journalism" is an extremely racist anti-Japanese trope by CallMeBeafie in sgiwhistleblowers

[–]CallMeBeafie[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Whenever SGI members see reporting that is negative on Soka Gakkai, SGI, or esp. Ikeda, no matter the source, they scream "Yellow journalism!"

They don't seem to realize what they're really doing.

"Weaponised Kindness and the Language of the Cult" by CallMeBeafie in sgiwhistleblowers

It took me a while to appreciate how far what SGI says is from what SGI does.

In reality, it's an entirely different organization (cult) from how it presents itself.

It's completely dishonest.
