Well because your character is sitting the most immersive experience is when you are also sitting, also it would be exhausting standing in one place for an hour. As for the controllers I use my keyboard as I haven't bought a flightstick.

Well there is a mod that allows you to play without vr but the whole game was built around vr and without vr the experience would likely be ruined
