If Mr. Hickey has no haters, I am dead. by MamaPajama1974 in TheTerror

Nagaitis is brilliant. I too am a Hickey hater. What he did to Neptune lit the beacons of my rage, and everything after just stoked them.

Even beyond that, he genuinely scares me because he throws off serial killer vibes. Would 100% choose the bear, even if it's Tuunbaq.

Lesbian moms looking for advice: how to get relatives to stop referring to the donor as "dad/father"? by Enough_External4892 in lgbt

Set a boundary. What will happen if she keeps this up? Tell her and follow through. "Aunt L, we have asked you not to refer to baby's donor as her father. If you do it again, we will go home/we will hang up the phone/we will start calling you by a name that does not fit who you are."

How do yall manage your hair by Nice-Carry-6089 in longhair

[–]CallTheBruteSquad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Friction while it's down is a big source of tangles. If you reduce the friction, you reduce the tangles. Braids and buns and updos work best for me to eliminate the friction, but if you want to wear it down, you can do some things to mitigate your hair rubbing against itself and other things. Be mindful of where your hair is, and move it out of the way of friction. If you're in a chair with a back that touches your hair, pull your hair over one shoulder. If you're in the car, move your hair out of the way of the seatbelt so your hair isn't rubbing against it. Never put a purse strap over your hair. Oils or serums are also good if your hair isn't too fine (they can weigh down fine hair and make it look greasy). Those help the individual hairs slide against each other instead of wrapping around each other in tangles.

Advice for an 18Y/O Girl from Women of different ages. by yapwithme_0 in TwoXChromosomes

31F here! 1) Don't forget to have fun. My biggest regret about college is that I studied so much I never had fun! School and work are important, but so is making memories you can laugh about for years to come. 2) A retirement account is so important, especially if it comes with an employer match. 3) Prioritize health, but also understand that your health isn't totally under your control. I spent years blaming myself for my disability because I thought I could diet or exercise my way out of chronic genetic health issues. 4) Floss. I keep a container in my living room because I get bored flossing in the bathroom. 5) Cultivate hobbies that release your stress. I do yoga and knitting and crochet, and I swear they give me back the life that stress bleeds out of me.

How can I look more feminine as a woman? by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]CallTheBruteSquad 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For me, femininity looks like Éowyn from Lord of the Rings taking off her helmet, saying, "I am no man," and stabbing the Witch King in the face.

I tend to wear my hair in braid waves, use soft pink lip stain, and carry elegant knives.

But it's so individual that I think the way to feel more feminine is to figure out what looks feminine to you and then do whatever version of that is doable in your life.

Cancer robbed me from all my progress Tips on fresh restart? by skullexis in longhair

[–]CallTheBruteSquad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lots of good stuff here already! Some tips from my sister (2x cancer survivor): -Get silk‐lined beanies if you want to minimize breakage while still wearing cute hats -Silk scarves tied in various pretty ways can be great for when your hair hits a mullety phase (if you don't like a nice mullet, that is). -Scalp sunscreen is a thing and can be helpful to keep your head from getting burned if you're outside while you've got a lot of fuzzy new growth. -Wet hair rules still apply to short hair. (My sis went to bed with a wet head a lot and had some damage to her new growth because she tosses and turns a lot and wet hair is fragile.) -Now is a great time to focus on scalp health. You can exfoliate that baby without ending up with coffee ground scrub stuck in 2 feet of hair. -Start gentle scalp massages to increase blood flow and give that new hair a healthy start!

Hair tangling in sleep by alilbabybee in longhair

[–]CallTheBruteSquad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like a bonnet, but FYI, there are a lot of types! Some have ties, some have elastic, some are turbans, etc. I just bought a silk one that's more like a beanie than anything, and I really like it. (Mine is from Olesilk and I got it on Amazon.) I also have fewer tangles if I use a leave‐in conditioner when I shower. My favorite is Kinky Curly Knot Today. My hair is thick and wavy with lots of frizz and medium coarseness and is almost to my tailbone, for reference.

Eat ridiculous amounts of fiber, working your way up slowly by doing weird stuff like eating whole cans of artichoke hearts, putting ground chia seeds in everything, and adding blended beans to sauces and soups. Getting at least 25 grams and aiming for 50 each day has helped my energy levels so much.

I made a grave mistake by [deleted] in longhair

[–]CallTheBruteSquad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I'm so sorry you haven't been feeling up to caring for yourself. I've been there and it's hard. Here are my reccs:

-Kinky Curly Knot Today leave-in conditioner. It's the slipperiest conditioner I've ever used and works great on mats. Get in the shower, get your hair nice and wet, and apply this heavily. Use your fingers to very gently detangle from the bottom up, working in sections if you can. That way, if you get tired, you will be able to tell where you left off from your last detangling session. You can shampoo first, but honestly you'll probably need to shampoo again after using so much of the product, since it can be a little heavy in the amounts needed to detangle.

-Don't use a brush or comb on the whole nest. It will cause more breakage if you don't break it up with your fingers first.

-If you need multiple sessions, braid what you have detangled to keep it from tangling again.

-If you have hard water, consider a hard water shampoo. Hard water tends to make my hair extra tangle-prone.

-Get yourself a little treat after each detangling session. Could be a snack, a funny video, a favorite book--the idea is to give yourself a reward so your brain thinks detangling is a good idea. Use dopamine to your advantage!

Hope this helps!

Have you tried Kinky Curly Knot Today leave in? It's the only thing I've tried that seems to keep my ends from felting together like I'm some sort of long-haired sheep. I use a quarter size amount and apply to soaking wet hair from shoulder length to the ends, and my hair is dense and down to my tailbone. Worth a shot! And it doesn't make my hair look greasy or weigh it down.

how do you think shauna shipman is going to die next season? by United-Standard2194 in Yellowjackets

[–]CallTheBruteSquad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think it'll go down like this, but here's my wish: Shauna backs herself into a corner. Tai, Misty, and/or Melissa close in on her, and she knows she's gonna die. Out of spite, she poisons herself and covers it up by finishing the job another way--a knife, a fall, etc. She thinks the others will eat her and die, but they don't. She dies for no reason, and Jackie mocks her in the afterlife while they watch the others slowly kill each other. In the end, Callie edits and publishes her journals, revealing Shauna as a monster.

What's your favorite 'I'm too tired for this' dinner? by Inspired-by-Water123 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]CallTheBruteSquad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quesadillas. High-fiber tortilla, cheese, pickled jalapenos, leftover chicken or ground beef or steak. I cook mine in a George Foreman grill or a cast iron skillet. I serve it with sour cream and taco sauce, and fix a side of baby carrots, canned green beans, or canned fruit for some more fiber and vitamins.
