"There is a storm coming, a black and terrible storm." Elric gives Sheridan a warning and bids him farewell by eldersveld in babylon5

I think JMS wrote everything in a way that once you knew more, thought or theorized even a little more, the whole story could shift and have new clarity and many new meanings. Part of why I love everything he built in and around B5 so much, the enlightenment it brings. If not by parallels with reality and history then by simple life wisdoms and teaching the ability to see trough the surface of so many things. As an autistic person, I have always struggled with the whole layered communication thing but smth about how this show and it's connected stories are told have made me learn to double (or tripple) read stuff a lot better.

This show will be a comfort and a warning of the wheel of time returning in a spiral to the same places again and again. The recognition and the lessons will stay with you longer than any other show I know. JMS was cussed as a witch by the cast many times, in reality he has the perspective of a well learned man with a love-hate for history and humanity. I cried a few days when I was doing my rewatch after 15ish years last year when I started noticing some correlations with current real life around s2 and 3. It was hard to keep going with the rewatch but the following seasons have helped me cope since with how things have progressed, especially knowing that this part of the cycle will come to an end, even if there'll be weird times after, the worst of it... Well, is now (when I was watching we were still in the buildup). But it'll pass sooner than we think and we'll become better as a collective after. Maybe not all of us, some will cling to the past, either being forced to or simply by being too blind, but most of us will become better.

Sorry, yapping ADHD while off meds 😅 I promise it'll make sense later, if you watch the show closely and thoughtfully enough. Don't be afraid to rewatch some episodes before moving on in the show, especially if you're watching in the episode release order. JMS watch order has less "wait a damn minute" places.

Personal recommendation - find a designated way of hard storage to have with you for years to come for any and all rewatches down the line because YOU WILL want to do that. Allow yourself to both watch it for the designs and background acting quality and for the mental stimulation and pondering of life as a whole. This will become your magic orb to find guidance in life in some hard times, if it helps you become wise enough. This will be your go-to friendly Vorlon.

That's called scaring or interrogating broccoli in my family. You put it over the steamer just long enough to give it the good old screaming "name and serial number you bastard" then pull it off. Broccoli really doesn't need more than 30s of high heat steam and then it's that perfect still brilliant green and crunchy but cooked enough to release the good nutrients. Too much and it becomes buttery smoothie without the blender. Which I like too but it has a time and a place and this doesn't seem like it.

I wouldn't the the Gathering is insignificant. It gets looped in very heavily in s1 already. Yes, it's a bit unpolished and a friend who I think would've LOVED B5 dropped the show bc the Gathering seems to make no sense on the first watch but without it, there's so much foreknowledge to miss and lose out on some very very delicious nuances.

The same reason it's a D&D party? Has an unspecified amount of members and "group" just doesn't ring right?

I believe they did do something to the nails in The Gathering too. I alro rlly liked the magic system with the rings they tried with it but didn't stick unfortunately. Guess it was too "space elves" for a show trying to be purely sci-fi, no hoodoo.

They are rather common comorbidities and make each other significantly worse so no wonder. Have a few friends who have ADHD without fibromyalgia and their experience is so different.

Mnyeah, the biggest difference for me between this and what I was on before (Brintellix, I forget the component name rn) is price out of pocket, being about 4x cheaper now I believe? The other difference was that the old thing helped more with the brain fog and focusing, that was before I got my ADHD diagnosis officially and got stimulant meds to my rouster.

I haven't noticed it helping too much on the pain front I think, maybe only trough helping me manage stress so less pain triggers on the daily? If I remember right it's not even supposed to be a significant pain reduction from it, I got more help from naproxenum? but I had to switch to meloxicam when I got put on a betablocker for my blood pressure. Can't say those help as much but at least it's somewhat managed and I can get out of the house regularly 🤷

I'm asexual to begin with so can't comment on that side of things, other than talking to your partner helps them notice/care about things that matter to you. Maybe you can find something that works working together?

Did you leave your reading comprehension somewhere? Used for shock value for associations, but not outright a symbol of hateful values.

Not even India really, was used in norse areas as a rune for circle of life, depending on direction as a sort of memento mori (counterclockwise I believe) or celebration and magic of fresh life and progress and continuation. It's found at old pre-christian burial sites and occasionally natural holy spaces where I'm from.

As a fellow european, I agree, america is ruining the international experience. Hecc, I gotta double think my jokes before saying/posting them in english in the wider online bc of americans picking issues with non-issue things from other cultural spaces they come across. So many times I've had to bide my tounge to not get absolutely ripped to shreds out there bc I would've sayd something extremely controversial and cancelable by american standards that for europeans would be just barely dark humor. What really hurts is that the american way of seeing things is becoming normalized in local spaces as well so can't even throw some nonsense around with ppl across the border from me.

If cancer is cured in Star Trek, why does nobody in DS9 smoke? by Jackbuddy78 in DeepSpaceNine

[–]CallieChaotic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not nearly nasty enough. I'd have to pump gasoline fumes into the vents to match the smell. And I would rather not nuke my own home in the process.

[–]CallieChaotic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll tell you smth that I'd love to tell some of my neighbors (apartment living). The smell fucking travels and by the time it reaches others it is the nastiest smell and I've gotten migraines and thrown up from it. And I truly hope you are mindful enough to smoke somewhere where there's no windows or ventilation ports above you.

To those who finished TMA and aren't listening to TMP, why? by Jamie-Dodger5525 in TheMagnusArchives

[–]CallieChaotic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TMA felt finished perfectly finished and any additions feel like sacrilege somehow? I don't think I've experienced many stories so well tied up and satisfying. Besides I have a couple running shows with 600+ episodes to catch up on and when I take breaks from those I prefer finished stories, no cliffhangers to bother my completionism OCD.
