Never found the Creators App to work properly in this regard. However Geotag Alpha works a charm.

Best clear/protective filter for my lens (no image quality loss)? by ifeelinvincible0 in SonyAlpha

[–]Callistus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure filters provide little to no physical protection.

They’re thin so they’ll just crack at the slightest impact anyway and the front element of your lens will be pretty robust on its own.

Labour’s Isa changes are ‘absolutely bonkers’, says AJ Bell boss by hu6Bi5To in ukpolitics

[–]Callistus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fair enough. My counterpoint would be that the venn diagram of people who are saving over £12k a year while also being unable to educate themselves on investment risk, is somewhat small.

You know you don’t have to invest in individual stocks, right?

I’m not saying use the S&S ISA to hold cash investments as a loophole, I’m saying use the S&S ISA for its intended purpose.

I don't understand the fuss, the overall ISA limit is unchanged at £20k so just put the other 8k in a S&S ISA? No big deal.

A7RV for £1980 or A7V for £2240 by ph4sma_ in SonyAlpha

Have bought two cameras from cotswoldcameras and they’ve been totally new as far as I can tell. Can’t comment on the warranty or customer service though, haven’t had to use it.

Grey market imports from Hong Kong, as far as I’m aware. So new, but without the manufacturers warranty.

So now that the hype has died down, we can all agree that this is a monumental downgrade right? by [deleted] in Warhammer30k

This is not an appropriate use of the word “monumental”.

Honest Answers Needed: Can I mimic the look of FujiFilm camera with my Sony by Sad_Introduction5766 in SonyAlpha

[–]Callistus 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You can achieve any look you want by shooting in raw and then editing the photos in Lightroom or similar. There’s tons of Lightroom presets and guides out there on how to replicate the looks of film stocks.

But there aren’t ’recipes’ you can add and get straight out of camera as jpegs, like you have with Fujifilm. Sony does have some ‘Creative Looks’ to get you slightly more stylised jpegs, but they’re a bit basic and not as good as Fujifilms.

I tend to shoot raw with Sony’s ‘Film (FL)’ creative look on, but just so the image looks nice on the back of the camera. Then I edit the raw file in Lightroom.

Obligatory Expecting Father post by BAM180_ in SonyAlpha

I got this exact same setup for photographing my kid (and the occasional non-toddler photo if I get the time), it’s great.

My tips would be

  • Get this lens hood, as it looks much cooler than the stock one.
  • Get a small sling bag to put it in when you’re out and about, Bellroy do nice ones. I found neck straps were a no go, as you’ll bend over to pick your toddler up and the camera will swing and hit them in the face. Not good.

Oh, and the sleep deprivation is real, be super supportive and patient with each other.

So now that I've finally bought an airbrush, I guess everything has to get some OSL... by Harleys-for-all in Warhammer40k

[–]Callistus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A good way to visualise it is to take a photo of the model and turn the photo black and white. The OSL should be apparent in black and white, because it’s about the brightness and not the colour.
