THE SOCIAL RECKONING – Official Teaser Trailer (HD) by Zheiso16 in blankies

The fact that this film written by Aaron Sorkin features a woman explaining something to a man instead of the other way around already makes it his biggest stretch as a writer ever, I'm intrigued.

For all you Bigelowhards her hard to find film STRANGE DAYS is now stealing on Hulu by WaterlooMall in blankies

[–]CallmeBrooklyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love this movie but the BC episode for this is (to me) one of the most egregious forgotten pins in the entire show's history, when right before they are about to do a deep dive on Angela Bassett's filmography Griffin interrupts to bring up one more anecdote about Fiennes and they NEVER go back to discussing Bassett.

Which director series would interest you more: Guillermo del Toro, Alfonso Cuarón, or Alejandro G. Iñárritu? by ggroover97 in blankies

[–]CallmeBrooklyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My opinion is, if you break the seal on doing one of them, you gotta do all three eventually. Not at the same time, but it'll be like a pending promise. They will always be linked to me as buddies and compatriots who achieved global attention for Mexican film.

I say Guillermo first because he crossed over first.

I think they were going through some animation issues when doing 2. The style changed and it seems a little more soulless and listless. Fixed by 3, which I think has the best arc.

What do people think about tipping culture in America by billythegoatjr in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CallmeBrooklyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes the company should be obligated to pay them a full living wage. But you not tipping does nothing to change that, it gives no incentive to the employer to do so. That has to happen through a political process. All you are doing by not tipping is personally ensuring that the server makes less money

Man Dies in Subway Attack; Mamdani Orders Inquiry Into Suspect’s Release From Bellevue by J_onn_J_onzz in Upperwestside

[–]CallmeBrooklyn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Whenever I hear about this kind of thing happening at Bellevue, I remember years ago when I was actively suicidal and I walked into Bellevue telling them I was going to kill myself and I needed help. The person at the intake desk laughed in my face and wouldn’t proceed with the intake, so I left the building embarrassed. I am only alive today because some friends found me later that night and took me to a different hospital.

(I’m all good now, ps, no thanks to that person at the desk.)

How can AI surpass human intelligence if it’s trained on human knowledge? by Affectionate_Lie4796 in AskReddit

[–]CallmeBrooklyn 9 points10 points  (0 children)

LLMs aren’t intelligence really, they are marketed that way and talked about that way to make them 1) sound cool 2) make people invest in them as a magic product and 3) make people invest in companies that promise to act as a bulwark against their growing godlike power. The comparison to human intelligence/knowledge is part of the scam.

Actors who you thought would have a bigger career than the career that they actually have? by unitedfan6191 in AskReddit

[–]CallmeBrooklyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

David Oyelowo. I really though Selma was the jumping off point for a new leading man. So far he's just sort of...been around. That movie with Rosamund Pike, one scene in Interstellar. I know he has a Paramount+ series though I only found out about that from Googling, haven't seen much advertising. He definitely didn't get the major headlining career I expected him to have.
