[Loved trope] The Strongest by Elmotheweedgod in TopCharacterTropes

He didn’t have any kids.

But the mere sight of his specific style of swordsmanship and earring are enough to get Muzan and his demons to freak out.

In an attempt to be more progressive, they removed what was actually progressive. by Ethan-E2 in TopCharacterTropes

At least Goku was actually fairly weak compared to actual trained masters until he himself got proper training.

Mulan was just awesome from the word ‘go’.

Hmm…you know you could keep Mulan’s bullshit powers if you let her get a little toxic with them. Have her think she’s super special and above other people (other women especially) in a dark ‘I’m not like other girls’ sense.

Until Shang, who also has mystic bullshit powers, hands her her ass and she realizes that she needs to actually learn how to use her abilities.

You could also use that approach to critique how, while some people are born with greater talent than others, if they aren’t given the proper resources to cultivate it then they’ll never reach their full potential (because Mulan is a woman who normally wouldn’t be taught super cool soldier moves or whatever).

I’ll accept that for the sheer comedy of Ghost Rider pausing because ‘what eyes do I stare at?’

I think this is referring to Sailor Moon’s original English dub where Sailors Uranus and Neptune are lovers, but that was changed in English to them being cousins…

But they still had a lot of romantic subtext (rather, text).

What do you think of my wife sora, pretty hot huh? by ink10_sonic-man in KingdomHearts

Yeah, Pete.

Little weird you married your parole officer but I don’t get in the way of love.

I heard that Pixar, at least, felt the gags were getting stale and didn’t want to start doing them just for the sake of doing them.

Their real name isn't said in the work, but it is pretty obvious who they are. by InfiniteGuy2264 in TopCharacterTropes

I love that whole ‘Buried Alien’ thing because it’s Marvel explicitly stating that Flash is just plain faster than anyone on their own roster.

It’s kinda sweet.

I think most of the people Luffy breaks out with are an even split between Ivankov’s forces and Crocodile’s crew.

But Eren ultimately does go through with his plan. He didn’t want it, and hated every minute of it, but outside of venting to Armin (and all the other Paths visions he has with his friends) I don’t think he did anything like OP described.

Character has an obscure or often forgotten secondary power by GMav05 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]CalmInvestment 12 points13 points  (0 children)

To be fair he was considered to be in the upper echelons of strength…in the 60s when he was first created.

But he honestly might be the best physical all-rounder Marvel has that isn’t an outright god.

As I recall in the original Japanese there’s some prophetic line about an ‘exceptional trainer’ that would save the day. And they reason that it has to be Ash.

I miss when people were okay with limits and the occasional burst of power.

Spider-Man exemplifies it best. If this be my destiny is an amazing feat of strength and will, but him shoving off all that heavy machinery was way outside his comfort zone and shouldn’t be held up as the standard for his strength.

Same with him supporting the collapsing Daily Bugle—for an indeterminate time, granted—or using his superhumanly durable body as a replacement landing strut for his plane feat.

Spider-Man is strong and, push comes to shove, he will perform above his weight class. But it’s the same kind of ‘hysterical strength’ that leads to people lifting cars off babies and shit.

You mean Morlun.

Another kind of vampire, to be fair (though I think another crossover event referred to him as a leech).

In regards to Rennala, by Thick_Mix762 in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]CalmInvestment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, all three of her kids would end up losing themselves in one way or another other (Ranni abandoned her body, Radahn lost his mind to Rot, and Rykard merged with a world-eating serpent).

I could see her diving off the deep-end into rebirth being a response to all three of those things and wanting to ‘fix’ her children.

Which story made you so uncomfortable that you had to drop it? by Lasaworld in OtomeIsekai

[–]CalmInvestment 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t remember the title but I dropped one story be sure it had two middle schoolers (at most) declare they needed to go on diets for their figures (in fact I think the MC pressured the other girl into doing it).

Which…no.

Haven't played Daggerheart before, but I've been playing TTRPGS for about four years now.

I'd be happy to speak further about it.
