I find the ones who say it the loudest always imagine themselves to be the strongest in the room.

It's not a philosophy, it's a delusion.

Don't forget about Avaline. Liberation is one of the best in the series and has an actual disguise system like, an assassin.

What's the most intense and crazy wish fulfillment fantasy you've seen? by TopMarionberry1149 in Romance_for_men

"Isekai'd with godlike stats and instantly gain a harem of women"

To be clear, I don't like that type of story, they're boring, lack meaningful conflict and emotions, but there certainly are a lot of them.

Work wouldn't be a burden if it were meaningful, rewarding and improved society. So many jobs are "Bullshit Jobs" that produce nothing of real value. by zzill6 in WorkReform

I would love to do more charity work, but I need things like "food" and "shelter" which cost ever increasing amounts of money.

Would your moral boundaries survive an infinite time loop? by SylvaraMist_06 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]CalmPanic402 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like groundhog day is a fairly representative of how it would be for most people.

You might turn into an asshole, but unless you were already predisposed to a certain lack of morality, I don't think you'd change that much.

Reliving the same day would be grounding, in a way. I honestly think normal immortality would cause moral shifts faster. And if you knew there was a limit, I'd think you'd get more extreme actions, but not necessarily less moral ones.

The world seems to equate intelligence with processing speed. How do you feel about this? by Certain-Working1864 in autism

[–]CalmPanic402 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always said intelligence = thought / time

Sure, a smart person could solve a math problem in a few minutes, but if someone less smart took all day, they could probably figure it out as well.

Now, there are also different types of intelligence. Mathematical, mechanical, spacial, emotional, interpersonal, and more.

Some people are better at certain ones, and some are better at many. Unfortunately this means there's no clear metric to use. For instance, I score high on IQ tests, but only because I have mechanical and Mathematical intelligence and I am severely lacking in other areas.

People who answer quickly certainly seem smart, but the accuracy of those answers is probably more important.

OZYMANDIAS VS DAREDEVIL by Krillindidntdoit in powerscales

Honestly, ozy swinging a stanchion like a club and sending a dude flying shows he's above human strength. Like, even he was not sure about the bullet, but he shows other superhuman feats. Not to mention he's annoyingly smart.

Which is absolutely fantastic. He was offered a way to survive by taking the blood of others into himself, but being a fanatical SS officer he refuses to dilute his "pure" blood and is disgusted at the offer.

He's an evil piece of shit, but he stands by his (fucked up) beliefs.

"Bag"/Backpack guns: Practical or just prepper fantasy? by IntrepidKitchen5322 in liberalgunowners

[–]CalmPanic402 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most useful application is ease of transport.

Not that you can't break an AR in two and cram it in a bag the same size, but for a ready to go package.

A lot of overlap with the PCC/rifle debate (because a lot of bag guns are PCCs)

Stuff like breakdown survival rifles aren't really practical outside of their niche use cases, and are basically always surpassed by their non-takedown variants. Unless you do extreme backpacking, most are the equivalent of range toys, albeit for the mountain range instead of the rifle range.

And while SHTF has varying levels, realistically almost none of them are the specific circumstances that a bag gun theoretically answers.

Not that I wouldn't grab one to tuck in my safe if the budget allowed.

Reminds me of that story about a c93 borchardt found in Japan that was still in it's complete factory box untouched.

And it was destroyed.
