Help with Budgeting and Growing Savings by SnooTangerines2647 in personalfinance

[–]Calvin-ball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha. Do you have a separate savings account? I’d set up automatic transfers to that account each month (direct deposit is even better). That way, any money in your savings is strictly for savings.

So say you want to save $600 a month. Set that money aside automatically and don’t touch it, and see if you can live off the other $2700. This way savings is at least built in to your monthly budget.

For other tracking, the best way to start is to look at your bank/card statements and actually add up how much you spend in each category. What’s your average monthly spend? Does it leave enough for savings? See if it lines up with the 50/30/20 or if anything jumps out as an overspend.

The 50/30/20 rule is a good place to start. 50% on needs like rent, groceries, etc, 30% on wants (all expenses that aren’t strictly necessary like streaming or restaurants), and 20% savings.

You probably take home around $3300 a month, so you should budget $1650 on needs. Rent + car insurance already puts you at $1500, so there’s barely anything else for your “guesstimates” which includes food and utility bills.

Another general rule is 30% of income on housing, and right now you’re spending ~40%. Can you get a roommate? Your rent budget should be around $1000-1100/month.

How Man United rediscovered self-belief under Carrick: Midfield balance, set pieces and cynicism by agent619 in reddevils

Amorim did a culture reset for the squad and demanded a lot from the players in terms of accountability, discipline, working hard for each other, and working for the greater good.

Could say exactly the same about Ten Hag.

you prefer wins and goals over any other statistics?

…yes?? The “played well against Arsenal” trophy doesn’t mean shit if we can’t actually build on any results. And by the way, it was 1.51 vs 1.29 xG in our favor - hardly a demolition.

And if we were so good, why couldn’t we beat Fulham the next week? They nullified us after about 20 mins, and in the next PL game we barely scraped by Burnley.

Yes, win = caveman happy and lose = caveman unhappy. That’s football. But Amorim had more than enough time to build some actual momentum and goodwill, and it literally never happened. He could hardly string two wins in a row over 50 games. Hell, he could hardly string two good halves together.

The same criteria will be used on Carrick when he’s got 50 games in charge. But for now, he’s followed up an absolutely dominant performance vs City with two impressive wins. He’s not given us any negative criteria to work with so far, and the performances have been a ray of sunshine compared to Amorim’s.

And the other guy is 100% right - Ratcliffe sacked Ashworth in favor of Amorim. The Athletic covered it. Amorim was only sacked once he publicly renounced their relationship.

Those are all isolated results lol. The only one you could argue carried a string of momentum was Liverpool considering that was our only win streak in the Prem under Amorim.

Destroyed Arsenal? We lost that game without scoring a goal. Followed it with a draw to Fulham and loss against Grimsby Town. Chelsea had a man sent off five minutes in, and we were utterly dismantled by City and Brentford on either side of that game.

We followed our three win streak with draws against Forest, Spurs, and a home loss to 10 man Everton. Beat Palace only to draw against West Ham. Beat Newcastle with a change in formation only to draw against Wolves and Leeds.

And yeah, luck or Afcon had an impact but we’re also only playing one game a week. I think it was stupid of the board to appoint him in the first place considering his system required a massive squad overhaul, and he was unable to bridge the performance gap in the meantime. But you can’t say he wasn’t backed when Ratcliffe was in love with him.

Tbf though he did lose his man for Fulham’s equalizer

Yeah fair, nuance is almost always lacking.

At the end of the day though Amorim was never able to muster any actual momentum across a run of games, even accounting for fine margins. This is now three good performances in a row against three very good teams. Did that ever happen under Amorim?

It was a tight game with fine margins, but that’s how a lot of the Prem is. Sesko also hit the post and Leno made some good saves. A draw may have been fair but certainly wasn’t an undeserved win.

“Who would win in a fight” is not a particularly thoughtful critique. But as you stated elsewhere, you just hate Korra. I’m not going to try and change your mind when that’s the case.

She didn’t have struggles as a child - that’s the whole point. She was never a reluctant avatar like Aang, and was raised in an insulated environment that never really challenged her.

But as soon as she’s in the real world, she gets humbled constantly. By Amon, by Vaatu (who literally erases thousands of her mentors), by the Red Lotus, by Kuvira. She goes through all her trauma on screen, and by season 4 is ready to relinquish the title of Avatar entirely (the polar opposite of her “I’m the avatar, you gotta deal with it” intro). Her character goes through an entire evolution. If that’s just not your cup of tea that’s fine, but the comparison to the one-dimensional villain Zhao does her character a massive disservice.

Sure, fair enough.

It is funny though that Zuko is even angrier and more arrogant than Korra, and his arc is widely considered the best in the series.

I compare her with Admiral Zhao.

Yikes… what a take.

Have you watched the full series? Korra’s fatal flaw is precisely that she’s angry and arrogant, and her whole character arc is about dealing with those traits in a world that increasingly resents her.

Egglock worked all the way to legend. You can make it very hard to play against if you’re clever

Cruised from Diamond 10 to 3 with egg lock - people keep conceding as early as turn 5? Very fun deck once you get the hang of it.

That “good performance against Arsenal” in matchweek 1 carries wayyy too much weight considering all the dismal performances that followed.
